Did a 3 week board and train. Our dog no longer has human or dog aggression issues, and listens on first command. We had to adjust our outlook on using shock collars but David and his team also utilize positive reinforcement, which we appreciated. It’s a form of communication we didn’t have before. It has been so amazing to see our dog learn. I’ve grown to love and appreciate our pup even more. Going out In public with him is a breeze , walks have become enjoyable, guests coming over are no longer a concern. It’s a life changer and David and his team are absolutely fantastic, even four months after our board and train. We now also have a great environment to board our dog and take to daycare! More...

Heights Canine had them for 4 weeks and it made a huge difference. My dogs have done a complete turn around. They are perfectly fine with my child and they have perfect manners now. When picking up our dogs, David worked with us and showed us how to do many things with our dogs. They are as good at home as they were at Heights Canine. This is a great place to send your dogs! We take two Dobermans to Heights Canine Columbus. Our oldest had reactivity and anxiety issues, but Tim managed to figure her out rather quickly within two private lessons. Even though lessons are over with her, if we ever encounter another problem, all I have to do is ask and any of the training staff is more than happy to help us out. We were so happy with the results that we decided to put the youngest Dobe through basic obedience with them. They are also daycare regulars. I’ve never felt that my pets are in any danger or that they’re treated inhumanely. With our female, we tried some anti-anxiety meds here and there but really, the root of her issues was simple miscommunication between owner and dog, something Tim helped us understand a lot better. I highly recommend Heights Canine. They treat you like family, and treat your dogs as their own as well! They’re professionals and worth every penny. More...

It was so bad I dreaded walks. I dreaded car rides. I absolutely dreaded vet appointments. So much so I started to get anxiety from it! David has taught not only kalvin but me as well how to handle those situations. He's shaped kalvin into an amazing dog. No more leash pulling, no more barking, no more jumping like crazy. My husband and I adopted our 3 or 4-year-old Pit-Lab mix, Rosie, five months ago. She is a goofball and well behaved in the house, but outside she would be easily distracted and excitable once a dog or a person would be approaching on walks. We went to general obedience training elsewhere, but while she would learn tricks easily and could do them perfectly at our home or somewhere familiar, we could not (even with the help of chicken right in front of her) get her attention once she had her focus somewhere else. We have had only TWO of our seven lessons, and the only regret we have is that we didn't use Heights months ago. The classes have been so life-changing as a dog owner with a generally easy and non-aggressive dog, I can't imagine what relief they probably give to owners and dogs in tougher situations. It has been fun to watch things click for her and see how easily she can pick up on skills once we had better communication. We are early enough in the process that we can still remember being hesitant about the e- and prong collars, thinking they would create a fearful or timid dog out of our sweetheart pup. Instead, she is more confident and relaxed and still a total cuddly goof. With David's help, we learned how to use them correctly and her tail starts wagging when we bring them out, knowing we are about to go out on a long walk/training session. When she moseys past a dog or deer, my husband and I look at each other in disbelief because it was only 2 weeks ago that she would have locked onto the "friend" from 30 feet away and have been trying to play...without us being able to help her chill out. I know these reviews are what prompted us to give Heights Canine a call, and hopefully, this will help encourage you to do the same! More...

We adopted a little dachshund December 2015 and after a few weeks came to find out he had a pretty tough past. We tried so so much with him over 16 months. Everything from in home training, group training and extensive vet care which included Prozac. Even after all of this and just simply giving our little guy time to adjust to our forever home his aggression and anxiety continued to worsen. No matter how gentle we were or how many rewards we tried giving him he just wouldn't trust and constantly went into fight or flight. It broke our hearts to imagine what he went through to make him that way. I am a huge animal lover and advocate. The last thing I would do is give up on him and turn him back over to the rescue letting him be someone else's problem. After lots and lots of research I decided to make the call to Heights Canine. We are so incredibly greatful for the genuine concern Jake, David and their staff showed us for our little man's future. Let me just start by saying... IT IS NOT TOO LATE. IT IS WORTH THE MONEY. YOUR DOG IS WORTH IT. We have worked with multiple trainers and never got the results we were looking for. When we started working with David my dog had severe anxiety over me and very territorial over the house / me / car... etc. Anytime we would have people over she would bark / growl to the point where I would just put her in her cage when we had people over. I hated it. A couple weeks into private lessons working one on one with David I felt like I had a brand new dog. She now no longer pulls on our walks, no longer barks excessively, she can be out when we have people over and no longer barks/growls at them, let's other people pet her. Her anxiety over me has gone down soooo much! In just 6 short weeks. I took my dog, Hank (a DDR/Czech working line GSD) to David and the good people at Heights Canine when he was 4 months old. We started with their basic obedience and within 3 months had finished it and their off leash program. We went once a week for an hour and left with homework for the following week that David held me accountable for completing before our next class. Each week I felt like I took home a completely different dog because of how vastly he improved his behavior after each hour at HC. Because of the time and work that we all put in, and because of David's incredibly high level of expertise, Hank is now a 16 month old (85 lb already), high energy dog that's easy to get a long with. Not only does HC's program help you out while you are in class, but it also gives you the confidence, basic understanding, and ability to continue to progress after you leave. Lastly, I have also taken Hank for overnight boarding at HC and I wouldn't trust anyone else to care for my dog. For a little bit extra I had David and his staff work with Hank on a few small things and they also made sure that he got plenty of exercise! I am an avid trail runner and I adopted a beautiful trail running dog partner a year ago. I was referred to Heights Canine by One of a Kind Pets after I rescued my new girl, Penny, from there. Penny is a 5 year old Australian Cattle Dog/Golden Retriever mix. She is so smart and transitioned into our family easily. She knew many commands already, however, she came to us with high, nearly unmanageable, dog reactivity issues and after a year with two other reputable trainers and no progress (in fact, I think she got worse), I decided to go to Heights Canine and enrolled Penny in a 3 week board and train. Prior to her training she lunged, barked at, and aggresively tried to get at other dogs. She pulled me over in several situations. While at Heights Canine, they worked on new obedience commands and her dog reactivity. Penny is like a new girl. She is gaining confidence every single day. We practice her obedience everyday... just in regular living and we can pass any dog with ease and confidence now. I can take Penny into any situation and have control. We pass other dogs on trails, on walks, and in public settings with no problems. It is not easy to leave your dog with a trainer for a month. I missed her so much. HOWEVER, now we have another 10+ years together with no dog aggression and a huge bank of reliable commands. The more training a dog has, the more peace comes into the relationship. I can't say enough good things about Heights Canine! Our youngest puppy son, Charlie, was having so many anxiety-related problems. This included, snapping at new people, leash reactivity and aggression, and flipping out and whining constantly! We did the 30-day board and train. While it was hard to leave him for that amount of time, the staff at Heights Canine was incredibly supportive. David, the trainer we mostly worked with, would text us updates, in addition to videos and photos added weekly to FB. Sometimes we would be really missing Charlie and I would text David at 10/11pm and he would still text us back letting us know Charlie was doing great. Even after Charlie was home, David would check in with us and answer all our questions. That truly made us feel that Charlie's rehabilitation was just as important to them as to us. That was so meaningful. The training we, as humans, have received also been great. I cried the first time I used the e-collar with Charlie. While I was so embarrassed, they normalized my fear and worked slowly with us. So appreciative of that. Regarding Charlie today, he is still his goofy and loving self, but is now a more content dog.
