I moved from Germantown,to enjoy closets a basement and garage! In exchange for that you have to leave all the great little places behind,,, The garden gate was a nice little surprise to fill in some of the holes! !! I can find my favorite salsa( screamin mimis) always a plus!!! The deli is great, and I can eat half my sandwich for lunch and the other for dinner!! All the fresh produce I'm used to walking a block to the store for, us now, is right around the corner! Not to mention the faces of people I worked with over 20 years ago, when I was in high school from Paul's fruit Market onTaylorsville rd! (the owner being Bobs son, having his picture shown proudly)!!! Loyalty from employees is hard to come by, for as many years as that,, so like father, like son,,, they are doing something very right! Dale chats everyone up and wears every hat from every department in that little corner market! The whole staff is always friendly, sometimes they see me many times a week! The option to call in my deli sandwich to go and pick it up on the way home from work is great,,, being right around the corner!! Highly recommend trying it out!!! More...

Everybody was very nice, friendly and patient. Today, as I went in, I could even apply that to their customers. We got some of their deli specials and ate in the middle of our shopping trip. I love the fact they try to locally source their foods and plants, supporting other local businesses, even down to doggie treats and candles. The food was great, the produce looks good and it is a comfortable enviroment. Totally going to go again. More...

This is by far the BEST grocery, deli and bakery in all of Louisville! Oh my gosh, where to start? It's like when you have a family reunion and you open up the fridge to the best homemade potato and pasta salads, sandwiches, deviled eggs, cake, cookies, you name it. I'm SO happy I found this place. It looks like only a garden center from the outside, but it is SO much more. The employees are great, the environment is airy and beautiful. It really is a shopping experience. 5 stars no question! :-) More...

As I pulled into the parking lot to meet a friend for lunch, I wondered to myself, "Am I in the right place?" It looked like a lovely small nursery, but I was here to eat and there was no clear dining area. After triple checking the sign against my GPS, I parked and headed in. I was greeted by a great little market with baked goods, fresh produce and a small deli counter at the back. The sandwich selection was really good, sides plentiful and the prices were great! You can eat right out amongst the plants if the weather is nice (probably if the weather isn't nice too, but that's on you) or inside at a small dining area with plastic chairs and overhead florescents. A club sandwich, chips, drink and a big cookie ran me less than $10 and a full belly. A win in my book. More...

Probably the best of both worlds. Best selection of Deli products, soups, meat loaf, cheeses, & Giant baked cookies. Add that to a Terrific Garden Center, with a friendly and knowledgeable owner & staff, and you've got a 1 stop shop.

I went here for the first time a month or so ago and was so glad I did. My visit was all due to PRETZEL CROISSANTS. I usually get them from the Douglas Loop Farmers Market, and sometimes at ValuMarket. They are just too good--so light, buttery, salty--yum! I didn't realized that Garden Gate makes them until I went on the hunt for them one Sunday with my family (who are equally enthusiastic about them). After a somewhat lengthy google search, we finally tracked them down to their origin, Garden Gate, and off we went.Garden Gate is a somewhat small but very well stocked store with a variety of fresh produce. I bought a basket of beautiful, mild-colored mini heirloom tomatoes that were so fresh. I don't remember the exact pricing but it wasn't bad. They have various plants and lawn ornaments out front for sale. They have a well-stocked deli with premade dips and dishes. We tried the pimento cheese and it was outstanding. We also had the Benedictine spread, which I didn't like, but then again I don't like Benedictine. It was a hit with my family though. I'd love to come back and explore more. Now, back to the pretzel croissants. They're about a little under $3, which I know is steep, but believe me it is worth it. PRO TIP: the very friendly, helpful staff person working the sample stand advised us that we could buy the croissants frozen to bake at home! We will definitely be putting in an order for the holidays. Everyone who worked there seemed very connected to the store--I wouldn't be surprised if this was a family business. There's nothing pretentious about this place. I only wish Garden Gate was closer to where I live so I could go more often! I will definitely be back soon. More...

One of Louisville's best places for fresh and gorgeous fruit and vegetables. They always have terrific produce, much of it locally-grown and all of it light years ahead of the sad, pale things you'll find at the supermarket. Peach season is a special highlight, and I sn't imagine making pie or cobbler without a trip here.In addition to produce, they also have an extensive deli with a fine menu of delicious sandwiches and sides. Afterwards you can finish your meal with delicious Amish homemade baked goods.None of this even mentions the selection of sauces, preserves, salsas and more. Again, most are local products and the quality of all I have tried have been excellent. If you're serious about food, you owe it to yourself to stop by and take a look at all these folks have to offer. I guarantee you will leave with a bag full of goodness! More...

I like this place— they have good produce & sandwiches. The pretzel bread is yummy! The reason I didn’t give full stars is because they typically don’t have dates on the baked goods & I have seen mold on some things! (I believe that is a health hazard too). Besides that it’s great. More...
