Words cannot even begin to describe the talent she has! She was incredibly accommodating with us while we created our dessert list for our wedding. Every single person in attendance made a point to tell us how perfect the cake, ice cream, and cookie bombs were! I was so happy that it was equally parts gorgeous and delicious! Helen is so easy to work with and get along with. I found her using Instagram hashtags, believe it or not! I wanted to go with a small business bakery for these 2 reasons: one, you get awesome customer service. Two, you have homemade recipes, recipes that don’t get lost in translation going through multiple employees, etc. It was such a joy to work with Helen, she was really prompt with responding to emails, she hosted us for a cake tasting where me, my fiancé, and his parents got to taste 3 flavor combinations. Her frosting is delicious, the cake’s density is just right, and the ratio of icing to cake makes the whole thing perfect. We ordered a 6” and 8” tiered cake and 6 dozen cupcakes for our wedding. She helped us with flavor pairing, worked with us to create cupcake designs, and coordinated with our wedding venue to make delivery seamless. I was the winnder of The Almond cake with Raspberry filling, lemon buttercream and decorated with raspberry lychee and cherry blossom Macarons. ....WOW, the cake was amazing!!!!! I decided to go with Dunn From Scratch for my small wedding cake (20 guests) because of all the BEAUTIFUL creations I had seen online.
All the pictures I saw were so elegant and also looked like they were super delicious (especially when watching the videos!).
From figuring out what kind of cake I wanted, to the decorations on top of the cake, Helen was there with tons of support and helpful suggestions. I sent her a picture of a cake that had the look I was going for and her re-creation was even better than the original. Her take on the cake was perfect and she even offered to purchase the fresh flowers and fruits that were supposed to go on top, which was so convenient and spared me the stress of having to figure it out myself (esp since I suck at that kind of thing). I relied on her expertise and I am so glad that I did.
Helen was always so prompt, flexible, and never made me feel like I was nuisance despite the 1,207 questions I asked throughout the weeks leading up to my event. Her final product was so creative and everyone kept asking who made it because it was so good and they had never had one like it. She even provided the fresh flowers that were left over from decorating the cake WITH the vase in case we ran into any problems with wilting overnight. I wouldn't have even thought about doing that!
Needless to say, it was an absolute pleasure doing business with Dunn From Scratch and although it was a hike getting there, it was well worth every minute of the drive because I don't think I would have had as great of an experience as I did working with anyone else. Plus, my cake is ONE of a kind which is just a cherry oh top! All I can say is THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! ���
