I rented out the Catahoula's cafe & courtyard for my surprise engagement party. The venue was beautiful with enough space in the cafe alone to fit my 50 guests, and they allowed me to have my dog there, which was very important to me and my (now) fiancee. The event coordinator was quick to respond to any questions and requests that I had, and the bartenders did an amazing job giving our guests a comfortable, inviting experience. Definitely recommend! Stayed for 4 nights and glad we picked this place. We walked to the Superdome for a Saints game - it's a short walk yet nestled into a quieter area. The staff we chatted with were very helpful in getting us booked for tours and a cooking class! Thank you Jeremy, Nathaniel, Monika and a couple more whose names escape me.) Loved all of the experiences. The restaurant serves very tasty vegan food & the bar is well stocked and Sean makes great drinks! We stayed in the Master Bedroom and loved it's size & ambiance. Balcony above the street. At first a bit surprised there was no coffee maker in the room though really enjoyed the coffee in the lobby each morning. The double shower a plus!!! More...

First off I need this to be an honest review which is why I'm not giving it 5 stars.....the staff is great! Very pleasant, very helpful and super courteous. The problem was with the first room they gave us. It had a bad smell like a dirty mop smell, some little flies in the shower and the water leaked from the shower to the toilet room, which is separate. So we needed to put towels all over the floor. The second room was upstairs and was a great room. No flies, didnt smell bad, even though we already purchased renuzit air fresheners just in case, and was clean and didnt leak water. So even though it started bad the first 2 nights, once they had an available room, we were moved to a better room. And the stay was quite pleasant. You should understand that the rooms are small, so know what you are getting, very cozy and my wife and I loved it. We would not hesitate to stay here again. Word of advise, just pay extra and get a room upstairs and you will not be disappointed. More...

Monika , director of sales for group traveler & private parties was such an amazing person professionally and personally!! I have two businesses in New Orleans and have been there for the last 20 years so I know the city pretty well. I’m in the process of planning a birthday party for about 50 people, with mostly out of town visitors she gave the best service out of all the venues I contacted. She will put together a perfect package for your Large or small group. The hotel has a very unique vibe super cool. Great location More...

Absolutely love the rooftop bar on the Catahoula hotel. It is perfect because drinks are good, happy hours are affordable, the atmosphere allows you to feel like you’re at a rooftop but doesn’t seem as crazy as some of them, and it just feels a bit quaint / charming. After a dinner date, I brought my girlfriend (at the time) to get a drink here. It was a perfect date spot because it was intimate enough to be able to have a conversation, but you also got the energy of other people / the atmosphere.Eight months later, I decided to propose to my gf (now fiancé) here. The venue was still the best (due to all the reasons above). The staff was super cool and excited for me when I asked if I could do it there / they were so helpful / they didn’t mind that I wanted to set up flowers and rose petals. Huge shoutout to Jonathan, Sean, and the entire staff at Catahoula. More...

If you’re looking for a small scale, quiet and cozy hotel and you don’t mind going a bit basic, this is your place! If you care more about your rewards points from big chain hotels, electronic room keys and being a recluse in your hotel room, then don’t stay here. The rooms have what they need (although a towel hook by the sinks would be good), some are small and some are more spacious and all are inside a historical renovated building. No coffee maker, fridge or microwave in your room but instead a great rooftop bar on the 3rd floor as well as a bar downstairs with great cocktails and a small menu (vegan kitchen). The lobby has plenty of room for socializing with very good complimentary coffee and tea as well as a cat to love on! They partner with a parking garage but we just used ride sharing to/from the airport and walked where we needed to go. More...

The Catahoula is in an excellent location for exploring the city, and has a comfortable and friendly feel with lovely staff who are keen to help and provide advice about your visit. The bar staff too were super friendly and we enjoyed the cocktails and the rooftop bar. We also enjoyed the very comfortable bed and the lovely full length windows in the room. I was afraid that Saturday night was going to be really noisy, but actually everything quietened down around midnight which was fine. On the down side: The room wasn't the cleanest, especially the floor, there was dirty linen left in a pile on the third floor landing for about 24 hours which we asked to be cleared up (it was) together with a bag of rubbish and the shower was disappointingly feeble. Also I would really have appreciated some tea/coffee facilities in the room, but tbh not many US hotels seem to offer this. More...

Hip, modern, and kinda ratchet. The room I was given had light bulbs out, a clothes line that didn't extend, and a shower that didn't turn on. Not what I wanted to deal with after flying and just wanting a shower before I start my night. Seems like a pretty big oversight. The next room, like the first, has no balcony. Might not be a big deal for you, but the photos made it seem like this was something the rooms had. The rooms was clean and had a neat vibe. Room 11 was okay but if you want to open the shades, you'll have to remove them... They won't stay up on their own. Coffee is not provided in the room and is dumped at noon. Nathaniel was kind enough to brew a fresh pot for me after changing my room. Extra star for service there. Michelle on bar was similarly hospitable. At the end of the day, it's always the staff that makes or breaks a visit, and this place has that in spades. More...

This is a cute and contemporary style hotel. The look of it is very unique and I liked that. There are nearby/walkable shops and coffee places, and the area felt safe and cleaner than some other parts of the city. With the French Quarter being a 15-minute walk away, I'd say this is a nice option for someone who wants to be nearby the late -night party scene, but maybe not immersed in it.||||The hotel is also pet friendly and has a nice courtyard area and deck. There is a hotel attached to the restaurant but we did not eat there.||||PROS||-Wonderful, personable, helpful staff. Because it is a smaller boutique hotel, the experience is much more personalized. I received text message recommendations on things to do in the area and an email alert when the hotel guests needed to be notified of something impacting the city.||-Free wifi ||-Easy to find and walkable to the French Quarter (about 15-20 min walk)||-I overheard another individual discussing stowing their bags at the Catahoula even though they weren't a guest. So, I believe for a $6 per bag charge, you are able to have the hotel hold your bags (free if you've already got a reservation)||||||CONS||-I think our shower was far away from the water heater, because it took forever to get hot water. Also, the layout of our room had the shower in full view of the bed with no privacy/shower curtain. Just completely open. This was fine for us since we were a married couple traveling, but might be an issue if you're traveling with friends.||-The room itself was small. This wasn't necessarily a con, but the layout/size of the room we stayed in would probably lend itself better to a single traveler.||-The wifi, while free, was also very slow and spotty.||-We returned to our room on the second day and our ground floor window was open, which struck me as odd since we'd locked it when we arrived||-No mini fridge in room||-AC unit was difficult to work. The temperature/fan settings seemed to change on their own.||||All in all, I'd say the hotel is worth it for the price, as long as you do your research beforehand and know what to expect, as this hotel experience is different than a chain hotel More...

Curb appeal is really good. Such a cute little hotel! Lobby is decorated very well. Lower level bar is small but gorgeous. The sitting areas outside and the rooftop bar are picture worthy. Very cute! ||||My review is going to be on the flats, not a hotel room. ||||I think the flats are newer options available because my friend who I went with said they weren't an option last time she went. ||||There is a seperate entrance off the street down from the hotel that has a keypad entry. Elevator and stairs inside. We had flat C. HUGE! Master bedroom, laundry room, full bathroom, FULL kitchen (fridge, oven, microwave, sink, dishwasher, pots and pans and utensils and plates/cups. All was provided). Kitchen opens up nicely to the living room and full windows to the balcony. ||||The windows were neat because you lift them up in order to go out on balcony. Might be hard for elderly people to open them up and careful closing them because they will slide all the way down fast. Balcony is a shared balcony with the 2 flats next to you. One side was blocked with some plants and that guy actually lives there full time. He was there before Catahoula turned them into additional rooms. ||||The TV in the living room wasn't working so we didn't have TV the first night but they came and installed a RoKu stick so we were good the rest of the trip. ||||Flat has dimming lights which was nice. HUGE King sized bed. No TV in the bedroom. Maid service came everyday. ||||Location is perfect. Not right in the crazy of French Quarter but not a bad walk to the action. About 7 mins. There is a seperate bar downstairs from the balcony that can get loud but the bedroom is so far from the balcony it doesn't bother you when you're trying to sleep. ||||We wanted to stay an additional night (Sunday) because they were blocking off areas around the hotel due to the demolition of the cranes at the Hard Rock Hotel but when we called they wanted $389 so we said no. I wish we could have gotten a better deal since we already stayed 3 nights. ||||Parking is $20 a night for a secured well lit garage about one block away. ||I will definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone. The flat was the way to go! So spacious and everything you needed. ||||Oh, we had a telephone in our room on the wall but it didn't work. Tried to use it to call about the TV. More...
