A Helping Mind

I am the founder of A Helping Mind and I am also a counsellor at East Galway & Midlands Cancer Support in Ballinasloe and St Catherine’s Counselling Service in Tallaght. I have experience helping individuals who struggle with anxiety, panic attacks, depression, low self-confidence, low self-worth, stress, burnout, anger, trauma (from emotional, physical, and sexual abuse), loss and bereavement, life-changing diagnosis, carer burden, negative self-image and gender identity. I provide a non-judgemental, empathic and safe space for you to be heard, valued and supported through whatever challenges you are struggling with. From our first session, you will see that I am down to earth, honest and open. As I get to know your unique challenges, environment and experiences, I become better able to support you in three key areas: > I provide coping mechanisms and skills to help relieve the impact of immediate challenges you are facing > I help you to understand and become aware of how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours develop > I help you to develop lasting positive change as you realise your full potential. I incorporate a person-centred, holistic and pluralistic counselling and psychotherapeutic approach, integrating a number of therapeutic theories and interventions to best suit your needs. While my preference is to see clients face to face, I do offer counselling services both online and over the phone. You are welcome to book a free consultation, to ensure that I am the right therapist for you. Each counselling session thereafter is €60. Each couples counselling session thereafter is €80.

What do you love most about your job?

It is so rewarding watching each individual overcome their challenges and obstacles

What inspired you to start your own business?

Having suffered from depression in the past, I found out first-hand how debilitating it can be. My road to recovery led me to study the mind and achieve a BA in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am now putting what I have learned and experienced to good use by supporting others who are struggling with their mental health.

Why should our clients choose you?

You will soon see that I am down to earth and easygoing. Within the non-judgemental, empathetic, supportive and sometimes challenging environment, I provide you with short term coping mechanisms, an understanding of why you think, feel and behave the way you do, and I will help you develop long term solutions so you can face future challenges with confidence.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes, I provide counselling in person, online through Zoom, and over the phone, if you're stuck

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

In the counselling room, the chairs are over 2m apart, I disinfect the room between sessions, I ask that all clients inform me of any symptoms before appointments, and I am available online or over the phone if needs be.
