I think I found my sushi place for now on. I drove by this place and googled it and saw it had good reviews, so I gave it a try. It's a very small restaurant so I wouldn't recommend going on a weekend without a reservation. They have fried chicken, sushi, actual entrees and even soup. Their menu is extensive, which is great. I tried the fried chicken and it was like a tempura chicken, but it was phenomenal. Highly recommended. My fiancée had the soup and she loved it. We even joked that when she's sick I'll have to go there and get it for her. The sushi is high quality and super fresh. We then split fried ice cream. It was basically tempura ice cream. This place was really nice, they had a good selection of veggie sushi. The edamame was really well cooked and topped with sea salt. They also have bubble tea, with option for jelly instead of tapioca bubbles. The food was excellent! I ordered a sushi platter and their spicy ramen bowl. The 4/5 heat on the ramen bowl was spicy enough to get me sweating a little, and did not drown out the rest of the flavors. We love love love this spot. It's small but the food is delicious and the service is always wonderful. We eat here at least twice a month. Their raw fish is ALWAYS fresh and sizable! After we discovered this spot, we only eat sushi and sashimi from here. Recently we ordered pickup and was accidentally over charged. The person rang up the wrong slip. My bf picked it up and he wasn't even aware. I received a call from the owner? and he apologized and refunded the amount and charged us properly. If they didn't call, we would've never known! I say all that to say this is an honest business and this alone speaks volumes on the kind of people running this place. I have never had a subpar experience here. So my son likes a shrimp tempura roll made at a place near us so much that  he keeps the menu description so he can give it to any sushi chef to replicate.  So the owner/sushi chef looks at the description and says he can make anything but says the role description contradicts flavors.  He explained why and it floored me that he understood his craft so well.  He then made his version of the roll which was awesome. I almost cried tears of joy in this restaurant. I've lived in New Jersey for 3 years and the thing I missed the most was my favorite sushi spot in South Florida. I've tried ALL of the places in SJ and Philly (the ones with awards and write-ups in the papers) and had come to the conclusion that the standards for freshness and actually good sushi in this area are ... low. Not at Zushi Dozo. The fish was SO fresh and the rolls were delicious and creative. I can't wait to come back here and now South Jersey feels even more like home! Met my niece, her husband and their daughter for dinner. My husband and I love sushi but we had never eaten at this restaurant. What a wonderful find!! The food we all ordered was delicious! My niece and her family only eat sushi at this restaurant and we definitely will be coming back. A very unique menu with items that you're use to seeing and a lot that are created by the chef. You will not be disappointed. Plus the chef, his wife and children (this was a Sunday) were so pleasant and accommodating to all allergies or any requests we had asked to be made on things we ordered. It was my time there, the place is small, cozy & clean. The service was fast & friendly. I ordered the philly roll but they put cucumbers instead of avocado so they changed it for me & I had 2 orders. My friend enjoyed the dragon roll & fried chicken. He said it was great. this is a well rounded Sushi joint. it's very small and has the typical strip mall layout but who cares? the food is made to order so you have to wait but well worth it. almost all the workers are owners as well so they really care. you can definitely taste the quality of food and it's very obvious the chef is talented.It's good to see there are still sushi joints who believe in quality over jamming people into their seats. Great little sushi spot! We really enjoyed our dinner and will be heading back soon. My hubby really liked his salmon teriyaki as it was not salty and cooked nicely. I had the spicy ramen with grilled shrimp and I liked the natural flavored broth. I also had the stuffed bamboo roll which was awesome! One of the best sushi I've had and I've had my share of sushi. Couldn't decide where to go after my doctors visit.  I've wanted to get Korean but came here instead.  The server didn't seem all too excited but then it was empty at 4:30 3/20/19 and not forthcoming when I asked what'd she'd recommend but she did say the ramen was good lol.  I missed the lunch special by 90 and I think maybe the girls shift was over since I saw her when she dropped off the menu, took the order dropped off food and then never saw her again to even check up on me lol. After I was basically done the chef came over to fill my water and give me the check.I started with the shrimp shumai dumplings which I for some reason thought would be fried but it wasn't. Small bites. The miso soup was good but it's been awhile.  I went with the Shrimp tempura roll, the crunchy tuna sandwich and the lobster roll  all of which came to around $43.72.  The tuna sandwich roll was the least fave of the 3 but I did like the lobster roll or maybe it was the shrimp tempura.  Since I'm not out this way often I don't know when I'll be back but would maybe come to try the ramen and some of the other sushi rolls More...

My husband and I came for dinner on a Sunday night, at about 6pm. It's clearly a family operated restaurant, everyone was involved with great results, the service was on point. We ordered Shrimp Shumai, wings and the Ocean Breeze Salad. Everything was delish!!!! I didn't quite know what to expect from the salad but all the flavors worked PERFECTLY! For our entrees, my husband ordered Pork Katsu (not my thing by any means and I liked it so much I would have ordered it next time) and I got FutoMaki or the "Fat" roll and a Lava roll. Both were DIVINE! I was full about halfway through and couldn't stop eating. We both left very, very full. Where do I begin..... The staff is amazing for such an unassuming place I'm sure many people have drove by plenty of times, but that is a crime. Please stop and treat yourself. We came early on a Saturday and had the place (kinda) to ourselves.  The owner of head chef came out and gave us honest choices and amazing service. We went all out and ordered alot. Very fresh and delicious.  We were impressed with the  variety on the menu and each bite was better than the last.  We were completely full when we left and we didn't think we over ordered at all.  The spicy tuna and the yellowtail were the best.  Food took a little long to come out but it was well worth the wait.  I highly recommend trying Zushi Dozo! Road trips up and down 95 are awful because there's hardly anywhere interesting to eat. I've made it my mission to use yelp to go a little off the beaten path for somewhere other than a chain, and this sushi place hit the spot. Super fresh and delish, straightforward service, and good pop music playing to boot! I live across the river just outside Philly, but I tried Zushi Dozo after hearing about it from a golfing buddy. It's outstanding. I had the Dragon roll and the green tea ice cream. I would have had more if I hadn't already eaten at the mall a couple hours earlier. My server was also one of the chefs. Which leads me to address a complaint made my one of the recent reviewers, "Youngju K."YOUNGJU,Perhaps the reason your server wasn't overly smiley is because it's been excruciatingly hot lately. When you work in a kitchen, as I have, the problem is multiplied. Your server was likely also working in that kitchen. When it's over 90 degrees outside, it feels like it's likely over 100 when you're slaving over a grill, stove, or oven prepping various items that wind up on your plate (yes, even in a sushi joint). This place is great! Excellent service and great food. First the steam dumpling; they were one of the best steam dumpling that I had. They were soft in texture and juicy and full of flavor. Second the shrimp tempura sushi was crispy and chewy, well season. Third the Salmon Teriyaki; great amount of serving, the Salmon was perfectly cooked and the enough of teriyaki sauce! The rice and miso soup were good too, could have added some more bits of tofu to the miso soup but still good. First time trying Katsudon and it was great! Definitely would recommend this dish to anyone that wants to try a new dish. It's a bowl of rice covered with eggs simmered in soy/dashi broth and on top pork cutlet. For dessert we tried both the Mochi Ice cream and the tempura ice cream. Recommend the Mochi Ice cream if you are too full and don't want something as sweat. It is sweat and refreshing. We eat at a lot of the sushi restaurants in the area and Dozo rises above. The specialty tools were carefully hand crafted and brought out in courses. The dragon roll looks like a dragon. Amazing. The chef  was really friendly. None of this you will gather from looking from the outside in. It's a small store front in a strip mall. Don't let that fool you at all. Located in a strip mall right next to a gas station on a busy part of route 70. Why come here? You'll absolutely forget where you are from the atmosphere and most importantly, the food. The sushi was very fresh, my boyfriend had the ramen which was also very good. His had some sort of a peppery taste to it which we loved. The service was fast and informative in answering some questions we had on the variations of spice level that they have for the ramen. The ramen was actually spicier than we thought it would be at first but the waitress provided more broth to even out the spice a little more which was really awesome! They were attentive in our satisfaction with the food but they weren't overbearing. Will definitely be back. P.S. make a reservation. If I reviewed the ramen broth alone - it's easily 5 stars. Seriously some of the best noodles and broth I've ever had. I'm extremely picky with how I like the actual noodle consistency/firmness in ramen, and they nailed it 100%. My girlfriend and I had the spicy chicken ramen, and the spicy pork ramen with miso. Meat wise I'd say definitely go with pork as it complements the ramen more. The chicken was kind of like pieces of grilled chicken, which although tasty, I felt like didn't work with the ramen as much. I was hoping it would be more of a thinly sliced and roasted chicken. Honestly though, I'd be more than okay eating the spicy ramen without any meat at all based on how much I liked the flavors. Also it should be noted that the spicy ramen comes in different heat levels based on preference (i.e. 1-5). We tried the 1 and the 3 - both of which weren't too spicy. If you like a bit of an actual kick I'd say go with a 3. The spice does just enough where it doesn't take away from the flavors or make you sweat profusely..In regard to the actual restaurant itself, it's a very quaint space but I didn't mind it at all. Trifecta Rolls!!! Yes yes yes!!! Just what I exactly needed..it was fresh, and delicious! The genmaicha tea is what I've been looking for! I went in with my twins to try this place out and of course they each have their own opinions when it comes to food...one love sushi and one not so much..I love that this place have so much more selection in their menu compare to most sushi places we've been to...so the twins ended up being super happy with their meals and me as well.
