Zeffert and Gold Catering

Choosing Zeffert and Gold as our caterer was the best decision we made throughout our entire wedding planning process. The food was OUTSTANDING! Everyone kept raving about how good the dinner and apps were and many guests said that it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding!Working with Matt and Jayne was a wonderful experience. They had a quick answer for every question that we had (and they were very patient with us--we had a lot of questions!) and they helped us design the layout of the reception room and cocktail hour in the best way possible. Their level of professionalism, flexibility and kindness blew me away.Jayne was with us on the day of the wedding and she was so comforting! I didn't have a bridal party and having Jayne there really felt like I had a good friend with me right before I walked down the aisle--she even helped with unbustling and arranging my dress before I walked into the ceremony. And Laurene was a staff person who took care of my husband and I all night--she had appetizers and drinks waiting for us after the ceremony so we could have a few minutes alone to relax before the reception. And she made sure we always had a fresh drink in our hands AND she reminded us several times to make sure to sit down and eat our dinner so we'd have some energy! We really appreciated her taking care of us! Jayne, Matt, Laurene and all of the other Z&G staff with whom we worked truly made us feel so special and we greatly appreciated everything that they did for us leading up to the wedding and on the day of the wedding. Matt Gold was incredibly helpful during the planning of my daughter's wedding. He went far beyond the call of duty as a caterer and was always available to answer my questions about anything wedding-related because he is in the wedding industry and has a lot of experience. He was so helpful that I came to consider him a trusted a member of my daughter's wedding planning team!On the wedding day, the food was extraordinary! Several guests (including the photographer who attends a lot of weddings) said it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding! Zeffert and Gold was one of the best choices my wife and I made when we chose our vendors for our wedding. We worked primarily with Matt, and he was exceptionally accommodating and helpful throughout the entire planning process. When I requested a specific beer two days before the wedding date, knowing that such a last minute request might not be able to be fulfilled, Matt stepped up and ensured that we had the beer in hand on my wedding day and that a special stock was kept aside for my wife and I.In regards to service on our wedding day, Zeffert and Gold's team led by Jess was beyond exceptional. Jess constantly checked in with my wife and I to make sure we had food to eat and a drink in hand so we could spend more time mingling with our guests. And when my wife's dress had a minor malfunction, Jess helped my wife get her dress repaired quickly so she could get back out on the dance floor. Jess and her team ensured that we had a stress free and fantastic wedding reception.As far as the food goes, you're likely going to hear from multiple people that you're not going to even remember the food you had on your wedding day, but if you go with Zeffert and Gold, I assure you that will not be the case. Between the appetizers and the main meal, my wife and I have both casually mentioned to each other since our wedding day that we'd kill to enjoy them again. For vegetarians and vegans, they offered a Vegan Crab Cake that was so good, I *almost* contemplated getting that instead of the beef tenderloin. The food was that good. Bar service was also top notch and as mentioned, they made sure to have specific beers on hand even though I made the request close to last minute.We greatly enjoyed having Zeffert and Gold cater our wedding, and I would not hesitate to recomend them. From the beginning Iris Gold made sure my wife and I were at ease and that she was going to help us have the wedding of our dreams. The ideas, help and support that zeffert and gold provided were top notch. Then the tasting... where to begin....everything was delicious and made fresh for us. It was pretty much like dinner a 5 star dinner with the best food variety you could imagine. We would have picked a bit of everything if we could, unfortunately the budget did not allow for that. Fortunately Iris was great at assisting us in choosing a good variety of dishes without forcing her opinion on us which we really appreciated! The ceremony and reception were exactly what my wife and I had wanted and Z&G played a massive part in this. The food, service, table settings and everything that Z&G did was 100%, not a beat missed. Working with Iris and staff at Zeffert and Gold was truly one of the highlights of our wedding. We wanted a very specific menu (Italian and Maryland influences) and they totally delivered, even trying new recipes for us to consider for the event. Their staff are down to earth, flexible, and very pleasant - it was a joy to work with them. And of course, the food was plentiful and delicious! My guests could not stop talking about how amazing everything tasted. Iris even came up to my parents and parents-in-law several times throughout the night to make sure everything was to their liking. Even beyond the food (which really, was superb), Iris was an amazing partner in coordinating my wedding, helping to set out the decor, giving us advice on how to design the space, going above and beyond to keep us within budget, and packing up the leftovers for us to take home. We were blown away by the quality of food and service. Our wedding would not have been as successful if we were not working with Iris. She and the rest of Zeffert and Gold are incredible. We selected Zeffert and Gold to cater our wedding, and Matt Gold was our primary point of contact during the run-up to the event. On the day of, Jess mostly took care of us. They were both extremely helpful and accomodating with requests big and small; in fact, I can't think of anything we asked them for that they didn't immediately help us out with.

The food was excellent, which I can attest to because they were so good about making sure to serve us a portion of almost everything. The only thing I didn't get to try was the Thai curry, which my father and several vegetarian guests swear was excellent. As the event wound down, they supplied us with a huge helping of leftovers that fed us throughout the week.

The staff were all great as well, from what I could tell.

If I could think of anything negative to say I would, just to add credibility; but in spite of a torrential downpour and other hiccups, Z&G was perfect throughout. I suppose that to me, as someone who has never thrown a wedding before, they initially seemed expensive; but after comparing them to other options in the area they were actually very reasonable. So there, that's my negative: "Zeffert and Gold: more expensive than not having a wedding at all." But if you're going to have a catered wedding or other event in the Baltimore area, just call Z&G. I used Zeffert & Gold for a drop-off boxed lunch while we were touring around Baltimore. From start to finish, the experience was great: Matt (my sales contact) was very responsive and helpful as we changed our headcount a number of times. On the day of the event, we had to change our drop-off location to accommodate our schedule and Matt was quick to respond to my request. The delivery arrived early to the new location as if it were according to the original schedule. The delivery staff, Matt and Pat, were also very nice and efficient in moving the boxes into the under-bus storage. Even more, they sorted the boxes by the sandwich type and each box also come with a sticker corresponding to the sandwich type. Personally, I had a vegetarian box and it was delicious! Give them your money and don't bother consdering anyone else. Seriously, Zeffert & Gold is absolutely incredible. We worked with Matt Gold and he made our wedding absolutely perfect. His attention to detail and responsiveness to any question or concern made the whole process virtually stress-free. The food and service during the wedding was impeccable. Of all of our wedding vendors, I can say without doubt that Matt and his team at the Celebrations branch of Zeffert and Gold were the best!

Here's a list of all the amazing reasons why you should hire Zeffert and Gold for your affair:
• They know their stuff: They make sure they thoroughly know the venue, they listen to what you want and are able to make the best recommendations for room set up, food choices, scheduling, etc. We worked together as a team to figure out what made the most sense for our event. Other vendors we worked with did not have that team mentality, but Matt could not have been more knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with.
• They're super organized: We never had to worry about Matt and team having all the details straight. They had everything organized and handled everything for us. Matt even helped us line up to process out for the ceremony - again, he had everything under control. And no detail was left unturned.
• The food is delicious: You never really expect a meal cooked in bulk to be that great, but everyone RAVED about the food. The portions were large and people were so satisfied by how everything tasted - from the cocktail hour through to dinner and dessert.
• The Yihud set up was fantastic: We had requested we have a couple of the cocktail menu items in the yihud so that we could grab a quick bite alone between the ceremony and reception....we got a full spread! We had a sampling of every appetizer - enough for us both - got to try everything and were plenty full when we left the yihud room.
• The servers are awesome: Not only were the servers efficient, but they also were so nice and pleasant to work with. Everyone had a smile on their face the whole night. When myself (the bride) saw the servers at the end of the night, I was met by hugs and congratulations.

If you want a worry-free wedding/event, you should without a doubt go with Zeffert and Gold. Best decision we made! More...

If you do not choose Zeffert and Gold for your event you are making a wrong decision! From the first e-mail to Matt requesting an appointment to the time he said goodbye the night of our wedding he was with us the entire step of the way. After we met with Matt the first time we knew right away that he was the caterer for us. His food at the wedding tasted exactly like the food we tasted months before and was SO DELICIOUS! Matt and his team were so helpful the day of our wedding and made sure that everything ran as smooth as they could. Lorinda took charge of taking care of my husband and I as well as my parents to make sure we always had food to eat and a drink in our hand. We will, without a doubt, hire Zeffert and Gold again! We meet Matt from Zeffert and Gold at an open house for our venue; from the first moment we meet Matt we knew that Zeffert and Gold was going to be our catering vendor. He was very open and honest about wedding catering and he did not hesitate to give a ballpark estimate of price before we signed a contract; truly no-pressure in all respects. Zeffert and Gold was the most competitively priced caterer from our required vendor list and the food was incredible. I pulled the chef aside at the wedding and specifically told him that the food at the event tasted exactly the same way it did during the tasting at their facility.
