Came here based on Yelp reviews (of course). I was really wanting to eat hawaiian food and wanted to try somewhere I've never been. I live close to Helena's but the parking....well, what parking? Haha. You walk in and it looks like a cafeteria. The counter straight ahead is to pick up phone orders and you walk to your left to place orders to eat in or take out. As expected, hawaiian food is pricey. This place is the same price wise as all other hawaiian food restaurants I believe. They have everything you could want in a hawaiian plate. We opted for the combo plate which included lau lau, kalua pig, pipikaula and lomi salmon.  I also added a side of squid luau.  Everything was good but none of what I got really amazed me. I'm willing to go back to try other menu items though.  The roast pork sitting on the deli counter was calling my name along with the kulolo. Yum! Parking was good. Customer service was just ok but they were really busy so that's to be expected I suppose. I don't believe there is a bathroom but I didn't really check. More...

I had the pork lau lau plate $14.75, kinda steep.  Pretty good, but I don't see much difference between other lau laus I've eaten.

I had a kalua pork lunch plate. I was afraid that it was going to be salty. But it wasn't. It was delicious.  I loved the fresh poi with lomi lomi mixed in it. The portion was good for lunch.

Been coming to Young's Fishmarket for years now! I am always happy to spend money here because the food is really good with pretty fast service but the seating is minimal. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because the poke is always hit and miss and since it's so expensive I would hope it would be more consistent on flavor. The Kulolo is amazing!!! I will always come here for really ono Hawaiian food! More...

This was definitely one of the better spots for poke. Too bad we came on a weekday, seems like the selection was kind of scarce. That didn't disappoint from the taste though. Just wish we came with more of an appetite to take down more of the menu. It was located in a strip mall with a bunch of other great eats so, bring your stretchy pants. More...

When I in the mood for grind the Hawaiian kind food, I make sure that I get plenty of cabbage to buy plenty of lau lau, poi and the turkey tails, patele, and the haupia by the tray. The haupia just broke da mouth and cannot stop eating that buggah. I getting hungry just dreaming about dis stuff. More...

"Home of the WOW Laulau" - Young's Fish MarketWhenever we are near to or go into Young's Fish Market, I replay in my mind a local late 70's-early 80's comedy jingle about a fictious foot-long laulau which goes like this:    "Come we go to Wendell's  For one hell of a kaukau  It's a foot long laulau  Better than poi, better than pig  Wendell's Laulau's frickin' big"                  -Rap ReiplingerOops, did I just date myself with this jingle?  Aw, but, many locals fondly remember local comedian Rap Reiplinger and can still quote many of his comedic lines or skits.  Eh, if you can remember Rap's Wendell's laulau, you surely remember Fate Yanagi.        Now, I'm not saying that Young's WOW Laulau is huge like Wendell's foot-long wonder but it is as massive, if not larger, as Hilos Kūhiō Grille's One-Pound laulau. We came in today to redeem a BOGO coupon for pork laulau which we planned to have for dinner since we already picked up our poi and poke from another nearby shop.  The pork laulau (including the BOGO) only cost us $6.50 + tax = $6.81.  Traditional Hawaiian laulau is usually a piece of pork and fish wrapped in taro leaves then placed in an underground oven (imu) to cook.  In modern times, laulau taro leaves can be filled with chicken, pork, fish (usually salted butterfish), beef or sweet potato and cooked over stovetop.  Young's Fish Market makes and serves laulaus with these modern fillings.    We've been frequenting this low-key counter service restaurant for years (since the 60's)!  With my family, I have childhood to adult memories of stopping into their original shop on Liliha Street, then following them to Kapālama Shopping Center and dining at this City Square location for poi, poke and laulau.  Young's Fish Market is one of our Hawaiian food restaurants that we frequent for their easy and low-key counter service, the workers are friendly even though they are often bombarded with lines of customers, the food is generously portioned and filling and there's free parking in City Square. I ordered ala carte Kalua pig and kulolo by the lb., a pork laulau, some poi, lomi lomi salmon, pastele, sweet potato and hauula. It's a little bit pricey but I wasn't disappointed! Everything was soooooo good! I'll definitely go back again. I live in town, gonna try the Kalihi one next. More...

I was visiting and needed to take back some goodies to the mainland. Young's has everything I needed: laulau, poi, and opihi. First the laulau. It came 2 or 3 per bag and I needed 8, so I asked for four 2 baggers. Their laulaus are nicely made with enough pork fat to keep the meat nice and moist. How do I know that?  I had them for dinner the previous night and it was ono. The opihis were frozen and I picked up a half pound at $30.  Poi was the Taro brand and can't go wrong. I had everything frozen overnight and packed it all up for my trip back home. Well it's going to be Hawaiian food on Saturday night for sure. I had Young's for lunch on a previous trip and can't say anything bad on the food. You gotta try it. Service was a 10!On to my next review. More...

I like Young's a lot.  This review is for their tripe stew and turkey tail. I think their tripe stew is one of the best on the island.  When you add their chili pepper water, the flavor just is elevated to another level.  The turkey tail is quite tasty and tender.  I really like it a lot.  I especially like that they cut it into bit sized pieces. The meat is a little smokey and sweet.Overall, these two dishes are really great.  I like it was more than the Hawaiian food they serve here. More...

While the parking lot can be NUTS (shares space with the DMV and a few other businesses), this place is a must. While several legit Hawaiian food spots has closed in the past, this place is still a staple on my list of to-go eateries when I come home. Casual and a little hole in the wall, the food quality and flavor are top notch. I love coming the days they have butterfish laulau (my fave) and always get poi, squid luau, lomi salmon, and chicken long rice for sure. Side of haupia sometimes too. And a package of peanuts to take home for my dad! Their poke is also some serious business too along with some other favorite Hawaii eats. If you're lucky, you can find a table or you can take out. They also have cups for water as well.Come early to find good parking, especially before the lunch rush! More...
