Cheryl and Shea are absolutely amazing to work with! I lived in Austin for almost 10 years and knew that's where I wanted to get married, even after moving to the DFW area. Cheryl made planning from a distance super simple. Anyone that really knows me will say I'm a control freak, think Monica from Friends. So when I say I didn't stress on my wedding, and was actually able to enjoy every single minute of it, you KNOW that's a big deal. It wouldn't have been possible without Cheryl and Shea. Everything came together beautifully, down to the smallest of details. She was able to nail my vision, even when I wasn't able to put it into words. Our wedding was everything we dreamt it could be. From the planning to the design and execution,  Cheryl and Shea were incredible! We live in Hawaii and were planning for a wedding in Texas so we relied on them heavily. Cheryl created a design board that I contributed to and once the overall design was down, she slowly gave me options to choose from. We had multiple vendors she had to juggle since the venue was very customizable; I am very impressed it was all kept in order. On the day of the wedding, neither myself or my family or friends had anything to worry about since the team took care of it all and kept us on schedule.  And more importantly, they made sure my husband and I had plenty to eat and drink! Cheryl and Shea are amazing!! They were both such a pleasure to work with and they truly created the day of my dreams. I was the type of bride that really did not know what exactly I wanted for my wedding. I had a few specific ideas in mind but overall I did not have binders full of clip outs from years of dreaming about this day. Despite me not having a specific vision.. Cheryl and Shea worked with me to create a beautiful coastal wedding on my families private property. They did  a beautiful job and Cheryl recommended some wonderful Vendors including the flowers, DJ, cake, rental company, and lighting. They all worked together VERY well and the day ran like clockwork. In addition, Cheryl and Shea are excellent at navigating families with very eccentric personalities.. Trust me my family has their share of characters and no matter what my family tried to throw at them they handled with ease.  I was so relaxed on my wedding day and if there were any problems on the day of I had no knowledge of them. Cheryl and Shea are absolutely wonderfully amazing!!!! They are very knowledgeable of all facets of the wedding industry.  When we contracted with our daughter's and son-in-law's reception venue, the contract required that we hire a day of event coordinator and I did not understand the requirement at that time .  Then we began the search for the perfect person(s).  We found Cheryl and Shea and the first time we talked with Cheryl it was like we were old friends laughing as we talked!  They truly are wonderful in every way.  With their vast knowledge, they knew all the answers to all the questions we could ask and there were tons of questions from us.  And they are extremely supportive of your vision and everything you want to do.  I am so happy that we found Cheryl and Shea because they made our daughter's and son-in-law's day so very special.  They are extremely organized and will guide you so that every detail is taken care of.So if you are looking for an event planner, stop looking and call Cheryl and Shea because you will be so very happy that you did!Sharon McAfee, mother of the bride Lindsay McAfee Hoelscher More...

It was a pleasure working with Cheryl and her team at Yellow Umbrella Events. We were selected as the band for a large wedding at The Hyatt Lost Pines in Bastrop, and were one of many vendors on site. Cheryl did a great job juggling all the moving parts ....and believe me there were A LOT given the size of the event! The details were really cool - everything from the animal skin accents, to the outdoor tents with couches, and cookies & milk for the guests as they left. The event ran smoothly and looked great. Most importantly the bride & groom were ecstatic! We look forward to working with them again in the future. More...

I wish we would have known about Yellow Umbrella Events before my sister's wedding in June.  She hired an officiant that did not show up for the rehearsal!  We were all so stressed the day of the wedding because that officiant would not return our phone calls or emails confirming that he would actually show up for the wedding.  In a panic we started calling around looking for a replacement.  My sister's makeup artist called Shea to see if he would be able to fill in.  He was there within the hour to save the day!!!  He was super nice, professional, and did a fantastic job with no preparation.  These are the people you can count on for your wedding!!! Where do I begin with Cheryl & Shea? From day one they were so helpful.  I thought that I knew what I was doing when it came to planning our wedding, but they REALLY know what they are doing.  Not only did they know the ins & outs of every aspect of the planning, they knew who was the best (and worst!) when it came to vendors.  I couldn't imagine doing our wedding on our own or with anyone else. When our big day came last November, it was chilly and rainy. Our original plan was to get married at the gazebo in the the woods at Laguna Gloria, but a few days before our date, we decided that it would not be doable.  Cheryl worked in overdrive to make sure our rain plan would be as beautiful as the original plan.  I was super bummed at the time, but looking back, I think I was happier with the way that every thing turned out. Cheryl is also great about answering the millions of questions that come up in the middle of the night when you start to panic :) She is quick to reply ASAP and help in whatever way she can! I hired Cheryl as my full-service wedding coordinator. She was indispensable in the weeks leading up to the wedding, throughout the wedding weekend, and over the course of the year of wedding planning. She helped with vendor selection, coordinated with vendors, helped with decor choices, made small money-saving suggestions here and there, kept me on track, kept things VERY organized, and the list could go on. She truly thinks of EVERYTHING down to bringing dinner and dessert to the hotel room for a midnight dinner! Her husband, Shea, was also great. None of the boys knew how to tie bow ties, and he ensured they all looked wonderful on the day of the wedding! I think wedding coordinators are a must-have, and I am thankful for all of Cheryl's hard work throughout my wedding planning process. More...

I went to Cheryl and Shea because I was getting married my last semester of nursing school (hardest semester ever) and I knew that I needed as much help as I can with being stress-free. The only time I focused on wedding planning was during my summer break, the rest was Cheryl! She did an amazing job organizing and making sure it was within my budget. She was easy to talk to over the phone - I answered all the questions that she asked and she followed through and delivered! I did a lot of DIY for our wedding - centerpieces, invitations, save-the-dates, and bouquets! Cheryl even went out of her way to come to the hotel the afternoon before rehearsal dinner to teach us how to make our bouquets. It was fun, and I really appreciate her going above and beyond to help us out! The reason I'm taking one-star off is because I kept getting a lot of negative feedback from my dad and my in-laws. I was extremely stressed out from my family coming up to me 5 minutes BEFORE walking down the isle to nag about stuff. Not necessarily their fault! But it might have been a culturally sensitive issue. Besides that, they did an absolutely amazing job. I had about 100 guest at my wedding, and it was pretty intimate. On my wedding day, my friend came over to me and said, "You look so relaxed!" and numerous other people commented on how relaxed and happy I looked.  This was all because I handed the reins to Cheryl and Shea and left them to orchestrate my wedding. I'm a DIY kind of gal, I made my own invitations, picked out my dress, made the table runners and put together the centerpieces, but I'm terrible at organizing events.  I'm happy that I chose Yellow Umbrella Events to deal with the logistics of the day. Cheryl & Shea did a FANTASTIC job with our wedding planning.  The event was held at Laguna Gloria, in Austin, which can be a very difficult venue to plan for due to it's ever changing rules.  I never imagined how complicated planning a wedding could be until I tried doing it alone.  Once we hitched up with them, the ideas and planning began to flow and we felt a wave of relief.  Their recommendations on how to structure the day's schedule and preferred vendors were all top notch. Cheryl projected our budget and although we tried to come in a bit lower, she was ultimately right on the button with the numbers.  She also worked very well coordinating with some vendors that we chose.  The transportation of our guests was a big concern of mine but it all turned out flawless thanks to Cheryl's shuttle schedule and recommendation of a quality transportation company. As soon as the ceremony began, a band began playing next door to our venue, so Shea sprung into action, leaping over an 8ft tall fence (at the expense of his pants), and had the neighboring country club kill the music within an instant.  He literally went above and beyond to save our wedding.  You don't find that kind of dedication every day.  They were both truly a pleasure to work with.    Thank you Cheryl and Shea, now that our honeymoon and move are over with, we finally got a chance to send out a thank you note to you guys.  Keep rocking!! Cheryl & Shea Bailey of Yellow Umbrella Events SAVED our wedding.  No, really, they absolutely saved our wedding from certain disaster!  It was INCREDIBLE, and it would have been impossible without them!I hired Yellow Umbrella Events as a month-of coordinator for our 90-person, outdoor wedding because I wanted the comfort of knowing that if I had missed anything during the planning stages, they would fix it with a month to spare.  I wanted to be sure that I wouldn't have to do anything on the wedding day except enjoy it.  Little did I know how much I would need them, and how miraculously they would out-perform my expectations.  From day one, I knew that Cheryl and Shea were at the top of their game.First, they're both a joy to work with, and it's clear that they love what they do.  They're very organized, professional, responsive, and detail oriented.  They have a lot of experience, so they always remembered the small things that I forgot and were quick with a suggestion if something I had thought of was logistically impractical.  Second, they were always very quick to respond to the hundreds of questions I had, and they were very proactive in contacting and meeting with all of our vendors in order to plan the wedding day down to the minute.  The latter was especially helpful considering my wedding was technically a "destination wedding" because I live in Houston.  They also had great insight regarding which vendors to use, and because they had built good relationships with some of the best Hill Country vendors, we actually got discounted on certain rentals.  For absolutely everything from tablecloth colors to basic reassurance, Cheryl and Shea made wedding planning as painless as it could have possibly been, and they started working out the details well in advance of the month-of coordination that we had booked.After I had been planning for 18 months, with two weeks to spare, Yellow Umbrella's skills were tested to the limit.  Basically, our first venue, the Wildflower Barn in Driftwood, became impossible to deal with, and with two weeks' notice we realized we had to find a new venue!  It was very emotional and frustrating because the entire wedding had been planned around our first venue.  But within two hours, on a weekend no less, Cheryl and Shea had found TWO beautiful venues that would host us with only two weeks' notice!  Fixing our venue debacle became their priority, and they exceed our expectations by finding a gorgeous venue, Blue Rock Estate in Dripping Springs, with far more amenities than our first, as well as by smoothly transitioning all of our vendors, rentals, and the schedule to the new location.  When our wedding day finally came, everything was beautiful, and the entire day ran perfectly.  Honestly, I have no idea if there were any real problems because Cheryl and Shea kept everything running so smoothly.   All of the guests kept commenting about how wonderful and relaxed the wedding felt, and I owe that to Cheryl and Shea.  Had it not been for them, their experience, and their connections in Austin's wedding industry, our wedding day would have been incredibly stressful and heartbreaking, venue-wise.I could not have survived the last minute crisis without them, so I encourage EVERY Austin or Hill Country bride to book Yellow Umbrella Events for at least month-of coordination.  Even if nothing drastic happens during your wedding planning like it did during ours, the comfort of knowing that someone with experience will take care of everything during your wedding day is well worth the very reasonable cost.  Seriously, we never thought we would need them as much as we did, but now we're so thankful that we had the foresight to book them.  So save yourself unimaginable stress and book Yellow Umbrella to ensure that your wedding day is beautiful and, truly, the happiest day of your life! Yellow Umbrella Events is the Gold Standard of Wedding Planners. Lucky for me, they also happen to be in Austin, TX, where I work as a wedding photographer. Having worked several weddings without them (where the planner sent the couple out for the grand exit while I was still inside; it takes 3 weeks to hear back from the planner; or the planner asks me to shoot engagement/bridal pictures at high noon, which is the WORST possible time for photos), it is always SUCH A PLEASURE to know that Cheryl and Shea are the wedding planners. For me, this means it will be a smooth wedding that will run on schedule. Even if there are hiccups, Cheryl and Shea have this great way about them that will come up with 3 possible solutions and execute them BEFORE anyone ever even realizes something didn't go exactly as planned. Being a photographer, I know (sometimes more than I'd like to know) that keeping a wedding on schedule is SO essential to not only having a great event, but also for PHOTOS. Shea and Cheryl are INCREDIBLE time keepers, making sure that not only everyone is happy and not feeling rushed, but still making sure there is plenty of time in the day for you to have your photos taken including time to capture all of your beautiful details that you put so much time and thought into. Their attention to detail is outstanding. Their service is OUT of this world. They are worth every little penny of their incredibly reasonable rate. Start to finish they handled their business. If, there were any issues with ANYTHING, they took care of it. My daughter was set on planning her own wedding until just about two months before the big day. At that point she realized the enormity of the task and told me she wanted to hire a coordinator. I will admit I was skeptical. Thank goodness she insisted and that she found Cheryl and Shea of Yellow Umbrella Events. There was way more to keep track of than any working person could manage. I found myself calling and emailing them almost everyday as the wedding got closer. Cheryl met with us at the venue and went through it step by step, literally walking the event just as our guests would and then just as the wedding party would. Her attention to every detail was amazing! The day of the wedding she was there every minute dealing with the countless issues that I would never have foreseen and that would have ruined the day for my daughter if she had known about them all! Thanks to our amazing coordinators she had no idea there were any problems at all. Each event and theme is unique to the party and the party planner. After an in depth discussion with the party planner we get an overall sense of what they are trying to achieve and create a theme/style and menu based on this.
