Describe your creative process.
I work from many draft ideas and usually present 2 or 3 directions to my clients and then collaborate with them to achieve the final result. Sometimes that starts with mood boards to get an initial idea of the clients overall esthetic.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
I like to see examples of print or web work the client likes in order to start from a place closer to their esthetic. Sometimes clients need help thinking through a project and need help gathering and organizing their content. Sometimes they have everything in hand and simply need the visual interpretation.
What do you love most about your job?
My clients and the opportunity to be of service. I love creative problem solving and the collaboration that takes place with my clients and other team members. Getting to design business identities is probably my favorite project. I think of it as putting a face to a company or organization. Always a fascinating and challenging process.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I like the independence and variety of clients I get to work with. There is always something new and interesting on the horizon. I like being in control of my own life and how I spend my time. It is challenging—no doubt about that. But I am not risk-averse and not afraid of a challenge.
