First, our server Lou-ann was wonderful. Sweet, professional, a delight. Second, the food was wonderful. The fresh bread is so good that most of our party bought loaves of bread to take home. A+

Fresh food, excellent decor and space for events! Gluten and Vegetarian indicated items on menu - only issue was that some items had cross contamination so wish there was more focus on gluten free (example: separate fryer for Brussels sprouts of a tray for pizzas). If you don't have an allergy there's no excuse not to come here- plus it's reasonably priced! Went on a Tuesday night. Party of four.  I was surprised how hopping the place is for a Tues. The two for Tues seems like a great deal, but my crew wanted to explore the other pizzas and enjoy sangria. We ordered the $25 HH pitcher of white sangria. No fruit which was disappointing. (Dried fruit in the glass which "looked" cool). Tried Tartufo, grandmas and burrata. While the burrata looks neat, once you spread the cheese around, it's a blob of cheese on your pizza. Yes, the bread is charred. That's the joy. The appetizer bread is good. It desperately needs to be served with EEVO. (Not just butter). More...

Located in a convenient spot on route 46 near a lot of corporate buildings. If I worked nearby this would be a go to spot for lunch. Obviously 46 is loaded with places to eat but I personally feel like Wood Stack stands out as one of the best in the area.Visited on a Saturday evening, had made a reservation for 7PM. I would definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time because it does seem like it gets very busy here despite the place being fairly large. The parking lot is a bit tight, but they offer free valet as an option. Ambiance inside is nice, not too dressy and not too causal. Kind of cozy despite being large and open. There's a fireplace and bench seating. Bar area in the middle, and if you choose to sit in this area you have a view of the kitchen and pizza oven. Each meal comes with complimentary bread which is always a plus! (every italian/pizza place should give complimentary bread!!) Wood stack's bread was damn good too, I could have gone for some more if itMenu is a good size - not too large not too small. Plenty of drink options as well if that's your thing. We opted to try two of the pizzas, but easily could have tried a lot of other things on the menu as well. Both the Burrata & Bader Sting pies that we tried were cooked to perfection. Nice crisp thin crust and seasoned well. The burrata on top was excellent, very fresh and creamy. They also had a menu of specials which had some interesting options on it. More...

This is probably my favorite Italian tapas in the entire NJ. I have been to Italy several times and this is the only place I know where the food tastes like you are in in Italy, especially the pizzas because their ovens are imported from Italy. I recommend the tartufo pizza with mushrooms and truffle oil with a glass of wine and also the burrata salad for starters with a nice pasta at the end. The service is impeccable and the place is spotless. Their pasta selections are amazing and the past is made fresh everyday. The good news? This place is affordable. If you like modern or traditional Italian food this is your place and the pizzas are to die for. The managers are very good in satisfying all accommodations and they waste not time when called. I would brake the food, service, and the cleanliness of this place all 5 stars! More...

SO we came here a long time ago (when they first opened) and I wasn't all that impressed. That being said we came back and WOW is this place good. The TARTUFO pizza is my favorite - but the CRISPY BRUSSELS SPROUTS, AVOCADO TOAST, LEMON RICOTTA PANCAKES, and SMOKED SALMON TOTS hit the spot! Oh and there is complimentary valet!.. We went to Wood Stack Pizza on Father's Day. Even though the place was crowded, we really got personalized attention from the wait staff and manager. We had some small children with us and they were very accommodating to them. The food was absolutely delicious. The pizza has that unique flavor from the woodfired Oven. They serve the meatballs in a bed of polenta which was absolutely delicious. The rice balls with yummy meat and cheese laced with rice, Was sensational. Each of the three salads we had was delicious -- we tried the kale, and the beet and one more that I don't remember but they were all yummy. Highly recommend. More...

This place is a really great spot.  It's right on route 46, near a lot of corporate buildings and offices. So it's always packed at lunchtime with business people. The menu is pretty extensive, it's not typical bar food. It's definitely on the fancier italian side.  I've heard the pizza is amazing, although I have never tried it.  The whole inside decor is really nice, really sticking to the rustic and woodsy theme.  My only complaint is that I feel like the portions can be small for what you are paying..it is rather pricey.  One plus is that you get bread with your meal no matter if it's lunch or dinner and that bread is amazing.I usually come just for lunch and get the Buttery Bib salad and it's always so good. I definitely recommend.  Can't wait to come back for lunch next time! More...

We've been wanting to try this place for quite a while. I'm sorry we waited so long.
It was raining hard on the night we went and the valet parking was surprising and welcome!
The interior is cozy and inviting. Our hostess sat us right away and our waiter greeted us immediately. They have a full bar which is nice.
We started with the meatballs served on top of polenta. Five nice size meat balls that were really delicious. I split them with my wife and daughter. We agreed that for one person, that and a salad would be a great meal.
For my main I ordered the fusseli squid ink pasta served with calamari, shrimp, and a lobster broth. It was really delicious! My wife got the pizza. Nice size with a thin, crispy crust. She only had a few slices and brought the rest home. My daughter had the mustard crusted salmon and it was also delicious.
We'll definitely be back!

Thank you woodstack pizza kitchen for helping hold a birthday party at your venue. My guests, like myself, loved the rustic yet modern decor and the way it feels cozy yet open with plenty of space for our young ones to roam (and their strollers). Thank you to Charlie for helping me plan the event through our email conversations and Giuseppe for a great job as head waiter; I know it wasn't easy with so many children running arund, and very specific requests that can come from parents dining with children. Although I didn't get to sit for long to enjoy the food on the day of the event, everyone was pleased not just with the food, but the drinks also. I whole heartedly recommend Wood Stack for your next event! Their brunch a la carte menu for group dining is excellent! More...

More of an upscale kind of Italian Pizza Kitchen with innovative dishes. (If you are looking for the regular ol’ Italian dishes, Wood Stack may not be for you.) Our group had the Pan Roasted Faroe Island Salmon, Crispy Brussel Sprouts, Nina Pizza, Tuscan Kale Salad and a kids pizza. The pizza was tasty but not all heavy tasting. The crispy brussel sprouts and the Tuscan Kale were spot on! Everything was quite delicious.
There is even Valet parking. Be prepared to wait though, if you don’t have reservations. And judging by the crowds, others must also think it’s a great place to eat.

It was my first visit. Nice decor with a touch of classic nostalgia from early American design. Menu was original and food was delicious. Do yourself a favor and eat here! I actually had the best meal of my life here with no exaggeration. Here are some stars from the menu you have to get:- Wood Fired Mixed Olives: who knew olives could have such flavor depth - Crispy Brussels Sprouts: however you're used to brussels sprouts tasting, good or bad, throw that idea out the window and be wowed by these- Winter Gnocchi: Best gnocchi I've ever had and I've had gnocchi in Italy. I pray these never go out of season. The gnocchi were like heavenly clouds, incredible. Honorable mention for the house made bread that was delicious and fluffy. Please go here. I have been twice to this place and found it amazing both the times. Their pizzas are thin crust (just the way I like), made from fresh ingredients. They have the brick oven from Italy (heard from a friend) that gives the taste to the pizza. I have also tried their Brussels sprouts, which I thought are a little over sweet. Their crostini is delicious. They serve warm home made bread and butter at the beginning. Oh not to forget their cocktails are great, so far the best. Most places the cocktails have too much sugar syrup. Their Moscow mule is the best I have had. Just wish they had desserts that are eggless. Oops, sorry for writing the review in the reverse order! Wow! Wow! Wow!! A group of us came to the Wood Stack for dinner Saturday and it was amazing! My friend Mike has been telling me how great this Resturant is and he was right!! The minute we walked into the door we entered into a bustling restaurant full of old pictures of loggers and trees cut and stacked! There is a very nice bar and what was really cool is the open kitchen right in the middle where you can see the chefs and staff hustling to make the food and get it to the hungry masses! They even have loaves of bread for sale! So we sat and started with a loaf of that wonderful bread! Crunchy on the outside and soft inside with a portion of spiced olives. My buddy did all the ordering since he had been there many times. For starters we got meatballs on top of polenta with tomato sauce and bit of pesto on top. These were as close to being as good as my mother in laws I have ever had at a restaurant and that says a lot! We had a type of Thai spiced Brussel spouts that has the right balance of sweet with a little kick, rice balls that were the perfect size so the outside is crispy and the center is not mushy and there was a hint of some meat inside that I couldn't make out.  I really could have ate 10!!  Lastly, was the mozzarella Strataccella which is made a bit stringy with toasted bread. Next we had their Mushroom gnocchi which was fantastic! They weren't belly sinkers like other paces make and the sauce was not too heavy and seasoned perfectly!  Next was the papardelli pasta with bologese sauce that was silky and delicious! For the stars of the show we had 3 pizzas. 1) Shaved Brussel spouts & cheese which was good, 2) Spicy sopradada which as even better and 3) the Marmalatta with bacon Marmalade, mozz, toasted tomatoes and arugula and that was OUTSTANDING, and definitely my favorite!  The crust was not too thick and cooked perfectly! For desert we had the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies w/milk and I had a custard with butterscotch and fresh cream. Some reviewers have complained the pizza is a bit expensive, well these aren't bar pies!! Eating at the Wood Stack is an experience to be savored  and not a quick bite after the game or the bar!! Also the chef, wait staff and the rest of the crew were all VERY friendly and courteous! Will be back soon!! More...

Great dinner and brunch options. I've done both. It's pricey but the food is prepped well. I had one night where it took forever for my food or service in general, but for the most part of my experiences have been positive. Pizza is good, pastas are good and so are the drinks. Provided that one's idea of a great pizza is not "Domino's" or the local "2 large pies for $9 special" this spot serves  arguably the best pizza and drinks in the area.  Growing up in Brooklyn and trying nearly all of the best pizza spots in and around NYC over the last 35 years, I can without a doubt say that Woodstack's pizzas are definitively better than Motorino and equally as satisfying as Keste.  The breadmakers here are masters at their craft, combined with a sauce that is simple and tangy.  And this is the secret of their pies. The pies are innovative with ingredients work great together and the menu items that I have tried thus far have been solid.  I'm super glad that this place exists, while they don't have a clam pie or something similar to a "Totonnos" pie I really do enjoy the pizza here. The special drinks (last had a cucumber something... was it a Mojito?) are always delicious, portions are huge and man the peppa pig pizza... that bacon  their pasta dishes are awesome too. I opt for half size since they give way too much food. More...

I hosted a large work event at Wood Stack this week and everything was fantastic. The food, the servers, and the management went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed ourselves.  We had a few special requests and food allergies and they had no problem accommodating us.  We had a selection of pizzas, meatballs, rice balls and their amazing stracciatella cheese. The food was replenished several times and no one waited for drinks.  I've always enjoyed dinner at Wood Stack, but they exceeded all my expectations for hosting an event. You're all awesome!  Thank you!!! More...

Definitely a pleasant experience! Cute casual decor inside, and the staff was very kind, attentive, and friendly! I went on a Wednesday for lunch and they seemed to have $5 wine which I unfortunately couldn't partake in, but great deals nonetheless. I ordered the margarita pizza which was delicious in its rich basil, mozzarella taste! Only complaint was the crust a little burnt for me. I also felt the pizza was def enough to share! Def would be back. More...

Amazing atmosphere! Not too many good trendy restaurants in this area but this one is pretty good. The selections for brunch, lunch, and dinner are sure to cater to everyone's cravings. I started with a rum punch they had it was a little too weak more punch tasting than anything else I then switched to a martini which was nice made well. I had a special appetizer prosciutto and plum over arugula that was very good. Then I had the Popeye pizza it was ok nothing to write home about I liked my appetizer felt the pizza was little dry but I will be back to give the pasta a try. More...

Excellent place place despite some of these so called "reviews" which sound more like personal problems. Fantastic pizza and authentic wood fire. The only place I had pizza like was in the village over 15 years ago. The first time I ate wood fired pizza I ate 2 pies myself lol. It's unlike any other pizza you've ever had plus the quality of the food at Woodstock measures up to high end Italian restaurants. The meatball and margarita pizza unbelievable. The freshly baked bread they bring you before your meal is everything! Great value for great food plain and simple! More...

I don't understand the low ratings for this place.  It's really not that bad of a place to eat.  The place is extremely modern, large, has group capacity, a full bar, and a ton of modern pizzas with a multitude of toppings.  I've been here twice thus far and was seated almost immediately.  I've tried pizzas, apps, mix drinks and beers here and was pleasantly surprised at all the items brought out.  They even have Gluten Free pizzas on the menu for those needing it.  The only downside to this place is that the tab can get a bit pricey here.  I will certainly be back to bring more friends here though. I had a pleasant experience here. I think overall service could have been better, but location, and food was good. The place was spacious, easy to find, had free parking and took reservations. All convenient things. The exterior was average, but the interior felt warm and cozy. We were seated pretty quickly, but the service was very average to me. I liked the menu a lot, but it was confusing for me to see drinks across three menus. I ended up settling for a cocktail only to find the perfect one in the drink book later. The menu was priced well, covered all the necessities at an Italian/pizza place and had a fairly hefty drink menu. The food portions were large, and were plated in a rustic traditional style. The food tasted great. The octopus was soft and chewy. The risotto was cooked correctly, the Brussels sprouts were delightful and my drinks were not too heavy handed. The food had an interesting depth of flavor, combinations of warm and earthy notes blended with crunchier textures with more fragrant notes. Overall it was pleasant and I'd come again. More...

Came for a group event. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was tasty all around.  Really enjoyed the rice balls, meatballs, yet the undercover highlight was the crispy brussels sprouts. The decor is bright and vibrant, complete with carts of wood stacks throughout, to tie in with their brick/wood pizza ovens.I'll have to admit, the decor really confuses me, as I think it ties in more with a BBQ joint, but that's just me.The must-valet parking is a bit of a bummer, as I really despise valet outside of a high end catering hall, but they certainly were efficient.Really enjoyed the bar area, and they offer a quality selection of beer on tap.   They'll even let you try a touch before you buy.Not so sure I'm rushing back as their food style doesn't quite fit for me, but certainly and enjoyable place to attend a party. Giving them 5 stars to get their status up to where it should be.  Kind of disappointed in the Yelp community after reading some of the reviews.  When people complain about the service, I always think 'service is a two way street'.  If you are friendly with the wait staff, it is usually returned.  Newsflash: never piss off the people who are bringing you food or serving you drinks!!  Common sense....Service was friendly and professional.  The bartender (think his name was Doug) came to take our orders from behind the bar.  He suggested a few items and was spot on.  The bread they serve was delicious and memorable.  Wood grilled olives were tasty and a different take on the usual bowl of olives. The pizzas were amazing.  Yes, more than you will pay for an 'average' pizza, but the quality of the toppings definitely made it worth it!  My client and I both shared a slice of the other's and they were equally delicious.  I was impressed with the thinness of the crust, the crispiness from the oven, but yet, it had a chewiness as well.  A perfect combination of tastes and textures.  As for the staff, besides Doug (sorry if that isn't your name buddy), a passing waitress was more than happy to answer a question we had, and then a manager stopped by our table to see how everything was.  We shared our delight with the food and service and he was receptive and professional.  I even expressed my disappointment with the 3.5 star rating they had.  This place is definitely worthy of a 4+.  The decor was chic, cool, and well lite.  Would love to see how it was for a happy hour or such. Will be back when in the area!! I saw this place open when I worked in the area but never got around to eating there until today. They had a nice selection of craft beers on draft. We decided to go with the Carton BDG, great adult beverage for any meal. First of all, the bread came out of the oven fresh while we waited for our appetizer. We ordered rice balls which had a crisp, fried outer shell with short rib filling. I wouldn't suggest popping the rice ball whole into your mouth, split it in half and dribble a little of red sauce over each half, savor each bite. Our Bader Sting pizza came shortly after we finished the app, great timing. The pizza was crisp and well cooked all the way around. As we know, one bite everyone knows the rules.. no flop for a gourmet pie, not greasy at all. The balance of sweet and spicy really made the pie; sopressata and chilli flakes added a nice kick with a drizzle of badar honey... I want to go into the 8's, but I can't, it's a 7.24.. it's fair, it's accurate, quality score. More...

Met my friend here for lunch today and it was overall pretty great! I loved the decor and the fun drink selection. I had the Orange Julius and my friend had an Dublin Iced Coffee, both were good and boozy! We shared the Stracciatella Caprese to start which was creamy and perfect with the tasty grilled bread. My friend had the Spring Onion Gnocchi which she loved and I had the Squid Ink Linguini. The sauce was a tiny bit spicy for me but the shrimp and pasta were both delicious. My friend got a scoop of the Fior di Latte ice cream which had such a nice flavor, however I got a scoop of the Cannoli ice cream which sadly only tasted like vanilla with a few chocolate chips thrown in. The pizzas people ordered around us also looked incredible! Our waitress was nice but she seemed busy and forgot about us a few times lol. Overall good time and I would totally come back! More...

If you're looking for a fresh, scratch meal - this is your place. All of the breads and dough are made daily on-site. They have a nice selection of locally-brewed beers, and they use locally-sourced flour and honey (for the bader sting pie), which I think is pretty neat. Let's talk about food: I've never had a meal here that I didn't like. The stracciatella caprese (made in-house) is just SO good. The combination of cheese, olive oil & tomato soffritto on grilled bread is pure perfection. The bader sting pie is one of my favorites, as is hail to the kale. During my most recent visit I decided to try the Nina pie and I'm glad I did - the vodka sauce/breaded eggplant combo was delicious! The crust comes charred (not burnt) and the pies aren't soggy on the bottom like what I've seen at some other wood-fired pizza places that I've been to.The interior is rustic and open, with a lumberjack theme.  Stacks of wood (true to its name), wooden beams, wooden tables/benches - even the door handles are axes! Make a reservation if you can, especially on the weekends, since this place gets packed. More...

The decor inside is beautiful.  Very cool vibe and really nice attention to detail like the axe as door handles.   We ordered a few different items from the menu to try. They have so many options, not just pizza. The bread they bring out was delicious. Soft and fluffy and the butter was creamy. The Gnochhi and Papperdelle Bolognese were a hit with our table. And for the pizza, the burrata and brussels sprout stood out. The crust is thin just like I like it. The flavors were spot on! Our server was great and we got attentive service.  When one person in our group wanted to order a flight of beers, she was great at making suggestions. Cocktails and the Crispy Brussel Sprout Appetizer make Woodstack my favorite place to grab dinner for date night. BUT!!! I HATE the valet parking. Located on route 46, valet parking makes sense although I NEVER carry cash and I always forget to bring some to tip the Valet guys, so be advised. Occasionally some of the staff can be a little cold, a little "keep it moving". Regardless the staff is on point with menu knowledge. If its super busy they  can be a tad dismissive, understandable I guess. The pizza is always consistently delicious. The crust has so much flavor and is the perfect texture and the sauce is incredible as well. Being vegan I get the pizza without cheese and I really don't feel like I'm missing out. All the toppings are super fresh. Be sure to eat the bread they bring to the table, holy holy crap. Chewy and warm on the inside and perfect charred crunch on the outside.  Pair that with the wood fired olives andddd well you'll be full by the time your entree gets there but it's WORTH IT! The Olives have a little color from being wood fired and are sprinkled  with orange  zest and rosemary it's a unique twist on something simple! There are a bunch of "wood fired " pizza joints in the are and this is by far my favorite. More...

I met my husband here after we finished work & sat at the bar. The tables were mostly taken up by families and there were 2 stools left so they were rather busy. Our bar tender was calm but definitely backed up so we were often left with empty water glasses and empty drinks throughout dinner. My husband and I both ordered the beet salad and a pizza. I got the hale to the kale and he got the Jersey Garden. The food was very good, don't get me wrong. But the food is pricey so when the very salad came out with about 6 small pieces of beets on a large empty plate I thought the bar tender placed the order as a shared order and when we asked he said that is the way it's supposed to be. He said it's "negative space". Who wants "negative space" on a plate when they're hungry and being charged $11 for 1 small salad?! Not us!  The pizzas came out very late. We waited about 45 minutes between our apps & the pizza dinners. The employees were pleasant and the food was good so I did give it a 4 star rating but for 3 drinks, 2 Small salads and 2 pizzas it cost us $100 for dinner (that included the tip) and save a few bucks because you'll need to also tip your valet! Expensive experience so the service should be a little bit better #roomforimprovement More...

Love this place! They use such fresh ingredients and are always coming up with different kinds of dishes... but they have the classics too. Atmosphere is awesome too with a rustic vibe. Some of my favorite dishes include the stracciatella caprese, meatballs, tagliatelle prosciutto & piselli and of course the pizza! The also have an amazing brunch. If you haven't been definitely check them out you won't be disappointed. More...

This place is awesome. My husband and I left totally stuffed, and we will be back again.  We started off with a zucchini blossom app that was a special.  It was so good. We also got an order of wings, which came out flavorful, but they were very dry.  I probably wouldn't order them again.  I also feel like a ranch dressing on the side would pair better than the blue cheese.  Next we ordered a margherita and a burrata pizza.  Our pizzas came out perfectly cooked and not overly charred.  I was skeptical about trying this place because people said the pizza came out burnt.  People there is supposed to be char on the pizza, it's wood fired!!!!!!!!! That's what makes it delicious.  Moving on...it was one of the best margherita pizzas I've ever had.  The crust had amazing flavor, and the sauce was spot on.  The burrata pizza, while delicious, is something I don't think I'd order again.  It's really hard to eat without using a knife and fork.  The burrata was just too heavy for the pizza, and once you cut into it, it made the pizza even more droopy.  I like slices you can eat with your hands.  I also wish they would serve normal soda, like Coke or Pepsi.  Overall, I can't wait to go back and try their pasta and more of their delicious pizzas. I really love this place! Although I have only tried all of the pizza and taken home some of the breads, I could only imagine that the rest of the foods they have a pretty top notch. We started with the Crispy Brussels Sprouts, which were pretty good, but I kept thinking about the pizza that we had ordered. Of course we also ordered the Charred Broccoli Salad, which was really refreshing and pretty good. It was enough for both of us to really enjoy with the Brussels and the delicious bread that we also had delivered to our table (I suggest ordering some to go, if I did not already mention that before). Finally, the pizza!!! We had three, which seemed a little overboard, but we figured we would take whatever we had left over for later. First up was a classic, The Grandma, which seemed perfectly cooked, a nice burnt crust which we loved and plenty of delicious pesto and garlic. This pizza, which came first barely stood a chance against us. Up next was the Burrata, which was loaded with more pesto, another winner...we slowed down half way through. Last but not least, the Peppa Pig. This was the real treat! A great assortment of meats and plenty of basil to boot! The prices are a little high, but I really feel like this place is a winner! Good brick oven pizza place located in Parsippany. We had the rice balls appetizer which were pretty good. Really good brick oven style pizza Italian restaurant. Went for a small work function and had a very nice decor inside that really fits the brick oven style pizza theme. They have plenty of different options besides just brick oven pizza including some fresh Italian dishes. I have to say the bread that they bring to the table was very very good and came out hot which made it that much better. For the group we decided on the sausage and pepper appetizer. The sausage was cooked perfect and very tasty. For my meal I had to try the pizza so decided on the Seppe Personal Pie which came with jalapeños Italian sausage and caramelized onions. The pizza was cooked perfect with a burnt little crisp to it. The only thing even though I love spicier the better it could have been a tad spicer. For dessert i had the Nutella ice cream which was very good. The other people I was with decided all different pies including the peppa pig and were satisfied. Other people in the group decided on the calzones which looked extremely good I would think about getting next time. Definitely worth coming back and trying again. More...

I've been here 3 times and I have been very impressed with the quality of both the food and service. I am also a gluten-free pescatarian, and the menu provides many clearly labeled options that fit within my dietary needs. The gluten-free pizza crust is very good and far from the standard cracker-like gf crust you get from average pizza delivery places. The brussel sprouts with honey are amazing and a must try. Really enjoyed this place for a group night out. We had 3 couples, split some apps & pizzas and we're all full and happy. The specialty drinks were great, I really enjoyed the spicy sangria!  We got the rice balls and grilled octopus, everyone cleaned the plates, they also bring a really delicious home made bread to the table. Our pizzas were fresh & crispy, a veggie, mushroom & burrata special were our choices. The place is spacious and our waitress was great! My only drawback was that for all the empty tables they sat us in the back where is was hot and we were next to another group, unnecessary with all the space. Also they want to close on the dot! We went yo the bar for a drink after & it was very clear they wanted us to leave. More...

Went here on the recommendation of the hotel staff only to find that I've been here several times when it was a Portuguese restaurant. Great makeover, bright lights and a refreshing interior. Solid selection of local beers as well as some nice bourbon. Started with some wings, that were better than most wing joints serve. Dined here on a Friday night.  Easily made reservations through Yelp!  We were seated right away and our server introduced herself and then let us review the menu before taking our drink and appetizer order.  I had a glass or three of the Spicy Sangria - amazing!!!  And the rest of our group enjoyed the local NJ beers on draft.  For apps, we had the meatballs and arancini, both delicious! The meatballs came on a bed of polenta - a nice surprise! Then each person in our group ordered one pizza, so we could all swap slices.  Definitely too much for four people, but we all like having leftovers in the fridge!! The prosciutto pizza and the 'Nina' were our faves.  Our waitress was attentive throughout the meal.  Nice modern ambiance....looking forward to our next visit! More...

Even though this place is located 45 minutes outside the city it's one of the few restaurants  that would survive in New York City. The Wood  Stack does a great job at delivering fresh made pasta dishes, wonderful salads and good pizza in an upbeat, fun and inviting atmosphere that is ideal for families, dates and a couple of buddies looking to grab a beer/pizza and watch a game. It's much better than average food, at a fair price and with lots of value particularly when you consider everything is made from scratch on site. After not eating lunch we went big and ordered a ton of food. In fact we ordered far more than we needed to just because we wanted to try a bunch of items. We started with the meatball appetizer and were impressed from the get-go. Even though we didn't eat the polenta base the meatballs were better than average although they weren't the best we've ever had. It could have been that we were just starving, but we devoured them and minutes. To be honest unfortunately it distracted us from eating a fresh baked bread that they brought minutes before. The complimentary bread is even better when you dip your knife into the sea salt covered butter and spread it over it.One of the biggest challenges we had was deciding which salad to order because all of them sounded wonderful. And unlike many salads you find in the area that are filled with iceberg lettuce these are are complemented by crisp, fresh greens. Buttery Bib salad is one to put on the must eat list. Our waiter told us that The Bolognese pasta with one of his favorites so we decided to order it. It was obvious that the pasta was handmade and they don't skimp you on the amount of bolognese sauce they give you. This bolognese sauce however is more of a cream-based than it is a marinara based so keep that in mind when you're ordering it. In short, it's very filling and was more than we needed after we had already had two appetizers and a pizza on the way. While this pizza doesn't compete with places like Grimaldis and Lombardi's in the city it's more than impressive for Jersey. It's your typical wood fired pizza. All of the toppings were clearly cut fresh on site and that chard bubbly crust mirrors most wood fired pizza that you get anywhere else.In short if you're not looking for a cheap place to grab a bite you'll have a warm seat waiting for you here. Keep in mind you're going to pay more then it many pizza places because everything is made from scratch and by chefs. You're going to pay more here but like anywhere in life you get what you pay for. Keep in mind there's an extensive list of wine and beer on tap for those interested and you're going to get far superior service at this place then you wouldn't many local pizza joints. More...

First thing you notice is the decor, I would say they nailed it. The lychee colada drink was delicious and strong. Pizza was delicious and really good for a thin pie, we got grandma and cant remember the other one but it had bacon and arugula. Mine was so thin the dough had a hole in it. It reminded me of middle eastern bread it was so fluffy. H Burnt flavor was a bit overpowering on some slices but otherwise the flavors were really good. Waitress was a little slow and the pizza took some time to cook. Bread for the table was warm and fluffy but crust was really hard. Weird thing was the tiny to go box for half a pizza... so we had to put the slices in a stack rather than a normal pizza box. More...

Ate here for the time today, fantastic truffle pizza and house salad, as well as the amazing flourless chocolate cake. However, the bread, served with a piece of butter sprinkled with delicious finishing sea salt, amazed me more than anything else. Michelin star restaurants do not have bread anywhere close to this one. Sure enough, they bake it in house, in the phenomenal bread oven from Italy that Joe was so gracious and hospitable in showing me. But really, everything in this place, from the sink and light bulbs in the bathroom, to the bread oven in the kitchen, to the rustic plates and flour sack towels used for napkins on the tables, has a wonderful twist to it. I've been meaning to try this place out, after driving past it for months! So my boyfriend & I finally did tonight and loved it. The outside of this place doesn't do any justice as to how great this place looks inside. It's a rustic look, they paid a lot of attention to detail. Their bread is fresh & made there daily. It was so good that I would just go back for the bread alone! And best part yet is they sell their bread. We ended up getting Margherita pizza, it was really good. Once again, I think their dough is what makes the pizza so great and its baked to perfection. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because they don't have fountain soda. It is all glass bottled. I guess to give it more of the upscale feel. I personally, love the way fountain soda tastes over how soda tastes in a bottle. Theres more carbonation and that was the only disappointing part of this experience. More...

I have been wanting to try this place since it opened. A friend and I went on Saturday, September 24th for an early dinner. The interior is really nice - very modern and eye appealing. The hostess was very friendly and engaged in conversation with us when we told her it was our first time there. Our waitress was just as nice and very friendly. My friend and I ordered the kale salad and a grandma pizza to share. The food was delicious. My one issue with the salad was we thought it was going to be one of those huge bowls that you normally are served at a restaurant but it was very tiny - Think Gordon Ramsey sized portions. The presentation was lovely though. The pizza itself did have the burnt on the crust but so what? The crust was crispy and the pizza really was very good. Everything is homemade including their bread which had a really tasty flavor.I had a glass of Pinot Noir and my friend had the Jalepeno Spicy Sangria. WAYYYYYY too spicy and not drinkable for me. I can't even understand how she finished it. My biggest accolade goes to the staff because after the grandma pie arrived at the table, we were told it had pesto on it (it was an oversight on our part because the menu did say it). I am highly allergic to nuts and with pignoli nuts being part of pesto, I was ready to order something else for myself. Numerous people from the staff went out of their way to find out information on how their pesto was made. The manager even came to our table to assure me the pesto did not have pignoli nuts and stated they keep them off to the side in the kitchen because of us that have nut allergies. I was very pleased with the way they handled the situation. They really seemed to care and be concerned. As we were leaving they were starting to valet park cars. I don't really see it as that type of place but to each its own.We didn't stay for dessert because nothing really seemed to pop out at us. A lot of their desserts are made with Nutella which I can't eat either because it's hazelnut.I would like to go back again and try another one of their dishes. Everything on the menu looks yummy. Been meaning to head over here for quite some time and I have to tell you, I'm really glad I did. Lots of coal and wood burning pizza joints have opened lately and the formula seems to be fairly consistent. Open kitchen with a plain view of their tiled or clay pizza ovens, lots of wood in a fairly rustic decor with modern industrial touches. And again, I really am quite a fan. Where Wood Stack differs is that they offer some pasta dishes that are absolutely out of this world good. Pizza is also great and very creative, although, in interest of full disclosure, some people sitting near us were less than pleased. Not sure why but if you're used to traditional gas oven pizza, this is something entirely different. Pizza comes out very well done with a woody flavor that's difficult to describe. I prefer it but again, not sure that everyone else does. They have a very large bar area stocked with lots of taps from local craft breweries. Conspicuously absent was any offering from Magnify, surprising because they're literally a 5 minute drive down Route 46. Their beer is also awesome. They also offer such classics as Moscow Mules served in traditional copper cups and a host of specialty drinks that's sure to please just about anyone. They have a selection of tables and a large communal seating area with a plank wood table and one of the coolest light fixtures I've ever seen. Love the lighting and the table, not so much the concept of sitting with strangers. All and all, an overwhelmingly positive experience here. I've read some reviews complaining about their valet service but their parking seems limited and it's a really great way not to have to sweat looking for a spot. The vehicle waiting area is also covered and staff is more than pleasant. A solid new place that I've happily added to my rotation of regular eateries. Kudos. More...

It's about time.  Something new, fresh and different for a great meal out.  The place is immaculately clean with a great industrial / old barn motif.  Food is fantastic, staff was informative and welcoming.  Agree some items over priced but mostly on point for this type of restaurant. For those who complain - go to McDonalds you cheapskates.  So my 16 yo was surprised when the pizzas came out.  We knew what to expect, as our waiter explained but my son - no clue.  After a few minutes of jarring back and forth, he finally took a bite.  Then there was no stopping him.  Left but a slice which i was able to eat.  We will be back! Only took pizza to go, was very good.  Never had that kind of crust before, very different than traditional pizza.  The only negative was the price of a personal pizza (9 inch) which was 14 dollars, a bit pricy. Inside is very trendy with a nice bar.  Plenty of tables, I will go back for dinner to try it out.  Staff was very friendly. More...

My fiancé and I had our engagement party here over the weekend and it by far exceeded  all of our expectations!! We are locals here for date night just about every weekend so having our party here was a no brainer.  The food was excellent the staff is excellent and the atmosphere is wonderful it has a rustic look and feel and the whole environment makes you feel so welcome.  We chose the family style dinner and let me say that every single person went home STUFFED!!! I have family and friends calling me still raving about the party and how excellent the food was.  Thank you Woodstack and your wonderful hardworking and accommodating  staff for making our engagement party an amazing turnout. Yes yes yes & thank you!! This is a fairly new restaurant on the outskirts of Parsippany on rt-46 and I am so glad we decided to give this restaurant a try. Wood stack is great for all types of parties and occasions, I saw a few intimate dates as well as two large parties including my own (party of 6). They were very accommodating to a gluten allergy and prepared all the dishes gluten free which is difficult when you take into consideration what pizza is made out of. Wood stack however was able to do an amazing job!! If you're going here I recommend the margarita (added pepperoni and jalepeno), TARTUFO (roasted mushrooms, fior di latte mozzarella, fontina, truffle oil, thyme), the Hawaii five-o (pineapple ham and jalepeno) or the pan roasted salmon (beets, baby arugula, whipped ricotta, horseradish) added garlic and jalepenos !! Great pizza, great music and even better service thanks so much for an amazing time we will be seeing you soon!! More...

The homemade mozzarella appetizer was amazing.  The industrialized decor is inviting, but the seating is very uncomfortable.  Due to concrete floors it was quite loud in the restaurant even though it was not full.  The staff from the valet parking, the congenial hostess, to our wonderful waitress Alexandra (who was helpful in suggesting meal choices and very attentive) makes up for the hard uncomfortable seats.  We would not hesitate to come back again. I was pretty excited when it first opened..  and have been there several times.  If I had jumped the gun and reviewed it in the beginning, I would have given a worse review.  It is a bit pricey for Pizza and the valet situation can be difficult on a busy night..  but I have tried a few different pasta dishes and the food is good, the drinks and beer selection is very good, and the service is decent. I have been here twice. All the pasta is homemade! Very good. You can definitely taste the homemade flavor. For my drink I got the spicy red sangria. It has jalapeño infused tequila, so if you like spicy this is the drink for you! As an appetizer we got the risotto balls, which were amazing. For dinner, I got the gnocchi with pesto, mushrooms & tomatoes. Very good, gnocchi is definitely homemade and melts in your mouth. My mom got the pappardelle bolognese & she liked it. I've had that here before too and it was good! Will definitely be back! More...

I like this place. Good decor and very well organized. If they don't have a table they have a long bar option that you can sit at which is a good alternative to a wait. They have valet parking which can be a bit annoying but based on the parking restrictions it's probably a good idea. The food is expensive but good. Soda is boylans and 3.50 a bottle. The pasta is very good and they do give you a half size portion option however the full size is not all that large so I can't imagine the half sized as sufficient. I don't generally care for wood fire pizza as the crust is blackened so I can't speak to that. Overall it's a pleasant place to eat. Well organized and good service. More...

I came here early on a Friday night and was surprised to see complimentary valet service. But when we had finished our meal we could see how crowded the parking lot was. The parking lot looked kind of scary actually which made me relieved I didn't have to worry about getting my car out of that mess. Service from waiter and bus staff were good, both polite and attentive. We decided to go with the basics, I had a glass of wine and my boyfriend had a beer. The prices were normal. We had the margherita pizza ($12) and winter fell pizza ($16). We thought both were great! To me, pizza needs a good crust and Wood stack had that. The margherita pizza was standard with fresh basil. The winter fell had chopped brisket, cheese, no sauce, red onions and a drizzle of bbq sauce. I was only able to eat 4 slices. I could hardly ever finish a personal size pie. I'd say we will be returning in the future. More...

Reading all the negative reviews made me hesitant to try this place. My experience was a pleasant one from start to finish. Yeah it's a bummer to have your car valeted but it was not an inconvenience. The valet's were very respectful and quick. I do agree self parking would be nice but it's a lazy person's dream to have a car valeted. The place was completely redone from it's previous shell (a Spanish restaurant if I am not mistaken). They definitely added on to it (I guess that took away parking spots and hence no self parking). When you enter there is a hostess stand and a bunch of tables to the left. To the right is a wide open bar area (against the left wall) with a bunch of comfy seats and a couple of large communal tables with plenty of seating (they are non movable stools). To the right is the kitchen with an open floor plan (two big wood burning stoves) and lots of fresh baked bread....speaking of which the bread is pretty damn good. Crusty on the outside and doughy on the inside...great match with their soft butter. We sat at the bar where they gave us a nice chunk to start out. They have several beers on tap...most local. Full bar with a limited amount of wines by the glass. Our bartender was fantastic! Prompt, friendly, funny and always smiling. Their menu isn't overwhelming. Italian apps, pastas, entrees but more importantly pizza...oh the pizza. We decided to split two pies. They are personal sized and can be managed by one large individual like myself. WINTER FELL - brisket, fior di latte mozzarella, pickled red onions, bbq sauceLOLA - guanciale, leeks, farm egg, bechamel, truffle oil, pecorino romanoTheir crust is solid and airy. Not too doughy. The slices are able to manage whatever is on top of them and not fall apart. Both pies were unique and delicious. I even tried the brisket minus to the pizza to see if it was quality, and yes it was! The only gripe is their prices. The two pies are were $16 each...pricey but worth it. Beers were on the moderate side and their wines were nearly double digit per glass. It is definitely a good spot to take kids...it's not loud but since it's so big it doesn't get to be deafening. They do have HH prices and are closed Mondays. ENJOY! More...

Awesome new place on 46 in pine brook!  The outside is just gorgeous and totally made me want to check out what was inside - it was very different from the restaurant that was previously there.Once inside I loved the look and feel. The lumberjack/lumberjill theme totally hit the spot and it shone in all aspects.  It's a really large space!  I think it would be really cool to check out for happy hour or even weekends out.  I think I saw a area for private parties in the back too. As for the yummies: They make their own bread, pizza doughs, and pastas in house. [[Hubs thinks they make their own cheeses too, but I don't remember that line. ]]Food was great.  You get bread and butter!  Bread was hearty and had yummy air pockets. We ordered the meatballs, the seppe pizza, and 30 hour porcetta.  No complaints with anything.  Meatballs were really good - and was over this creamy goodness that I don't think I've ever had before.   Pizza was a good size and the fresh ingredients on top really shone through.  Porcetta - 30  hours is crazy and I'd never seen anything like that.  it was super crispy almost like it was fried.  It came with these awesome crispy fingerling potatoes too. Beers are from breweries in the area - mostly drafts from NJ which is super cool. There is a number of wines available by glass and even more available by bottle. There is also a cool cocktail list suit to fit many different tastes, including an N.Y.F.A.P (not your fathers Arnold palmer) complete with bourbon, ginger liqueur, iced tea, and charred lemon.  Cool! I hope more establishments complete with well thought out menus and cohesive themes come to this area! More...

We went to the Wood Stack for lunch this afternoon.  You're greeted by a host on the way in and shown to your table.  We sat in front of the gas fireplace which was great because it's freezing today.  Very earthy decor, done tastefully and appropriate for the theme (Wood oven pizza).  The employees were all very nice and attentive.  It was busy, there were only two unoccupied tables, but the staff managed it very well.  I never felt like I was waiting or forgotten about. We ordered the meatballs as an appetizer, the margarita pizza and the pappardelle bolognese.  It was very obviously everything is fresh and homemade, including the bread.  The pizza was perfectly cooked, light char, Napolitano stye pie.  Fresh homemade food, good management, nice people.  You can't go wrong.  We'll have to go back for dinner.  We arrived today at noon and the place quickly filled up.  When we left, people were waiting for parking spots, so get there early.
