Wood Stack Pizza + Restaurant

I was fortunate enough to attend a birthday party here after waiting forever to try this place out. The restaurant itself is gorgeous with a beautiful open concept. Very clean and welcoming. Everyone from the host to parking attendants were friendly. The food is fantastic, warm fresh delicious bread upon arrival (I tried the olives....I would have taken out the orange zest) and our appetizers of burrata (amazing) and rice balls were phenomenal. The pizza is light ad crisp. We had the eggplant pie with vodka sauce, plain cheese and the pruscutto (I didn't try this one, but beautifully presented). I can't wait to go back here. My family had dinner here last week and we all thought it was fantastic. My pizza had sausage, jalapenos, and onion marmalade, and boy oh boy was it good. I've been to Wood Stack twice now and actually ordered the same thing because it was so good the first time (also I love gnocchi)! I'm surprised the ratings are so low though. It's a great atmosphere and decor, bar on the left, dining on the right. I got the Crispy Brussel Sprouts and Fall Gnocchi (potato & ricotta dumplings, wild mushrooms, sherry cream sauce, parmiggiano reggiano). A half was the perfect size for myself. This place is quickly becoming one of our favorite places.  The food is excellent as is the service. Their Gnocchi is amazing with mushrooms and a sherry cream sauce. Their pizza's are very good. Honestly, I am super confused why Wood Stack only has 3.5 stars. I went a few months back with myself and 6 family members after wedding dress shopping and Wood Stack truly topped off the day. My family is pretty picky and they loved the place. This goes to show you really can't rely on reviews when making decisions. The food was outstanding and their Brussels sprouts were so good that you didn't even realize you were eating Brussels sprouts. It is such a good option for people who are GF. It was the BEST GF pizza I have ever had and let me tell you, I have had many GF pizzas in my lifetime. Do yourself a favor and try this place out. Don't listen to the negative nellys on here. P.S. Sat and ate at the bar on a quiet Saturday afternoon with my sister. When you arrive they have complimentary option valet parking which we took advantage of. We share a delicious brussels sprouts app and also shared the Mushroom Truffle Pizza and Bolganese Pasta Dish. They provide you with a couple of slices of bread and butter but apparently if you want more they will charge for it. The food overall had great flavor as did the sangria. My only complaint is that the food came out lukewarm, as it must have been sitting for a while. If the food wasn't great, I would have complained but decided not to make a big deal about it. We've been wanting to try this place. We like thin crust pizza a lot. There's a place by the shore that does it better. It was a little chewy here, but still better than we can find in North Jersey. Busier than most places. Mandatory complimentary valet parking when we arrived. Had to sit at bar. No one really assigned to watch over us. Asked 3 times for bread and it didn't come out until after the meal came. The bread was good but  crust was like a rock, not even chewable. I had the Nina pizza, wife had margherita. Taste was good, a little skimpy on eggplant on Nina. Would we come again? Maybe, but not making a special trip. We found it a bit expensive for 10 in pies. More...

This is a pretty nice place to visit if you're in a mood to enjoy a cold drink and pizza amongst friends. The food is exceptional and staff is very friendly. This place is one of the nicest pizza restaurants in town and the place is always clean and owner is very respectful and attentive to the guest. This visit has been a long time coming and overall I was very impressed with the ambience and the food. The olives and bread were terrific. Then we had the Diavlo pizza which was terrific although we didn't have any soppressata on it the pizza was cooked well and perfectly spicy. We both had hangar steaks, one as an entree and the other as an add on to the broccoli salad. Both were served in the same manner; the entree had the steak as the star of the plate as did the salad. The drinks were also terrific. We ordered the spicy red sangria and the bourbon blackberry special drink... was awesome (asked for it to be made less sweet). Service was a little lackluster. Had to ask for a drink refill and upon asking for a water refill it never came. Fresh food, excellent decor and space for events! Gluten and Vegetarian indicated items on menu - only issue was that some items had cross contamination so wish there was more focus on gluten free (example: separate fryer for Brussels sprouts of a tray for pizzas). Went on a Tuesday night. Party of four.  I was surprised how hopping the place is for a Tues. The two for Tues seems like a great deal, but my crew wanted to explore the other pizzas and enjoy sangria. We ordered the $25 HH pitcher of white sangria. No fruit which was disappointing. (Dried fruit in the glass which "looked" cool). Tried Tartufo, grandmas and burrata. While the burrata looks neat, once you spread the cheese around, it's a blob of cheese on your pizza. Located in a convenient spot on route 46 near a lot of corporate buildings. If I worked nearby this would be a go to spot for lunch. Obviously 46 is loaded with places to eat but I personally feel like Wood Stack stands out as one of the best in the area.Visited on a Saturday evening, had made a reservation for 7PM. I would definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time because it does seem like it gets very busy here despite the place being fairly large. The parking lot is a bit tight, but they offer free valet as an option. Ambiance inside is nice, not too dressy and not too causal. Kind of cozy despite being large and open. There's a fireplace and bench seating. Bar area in the middle, and if you choose to sit in this area you have a view of the kitchen and pizza oven. Each meal comes with complimentary bread which is always a plus! (every italian/pizza place should give complimentary bread!!) Wood stack's bread was damn good too, I could have gone for some more if itMenu is a good size - not too large not too small. Plenty of drink options as well if that's your thing. We opted to try two of the pizzas, but easily could have tried a lot of other things on the menu as well. Both the Burrata & Bader Sting pies that we tried were cooked to perfection. This is probably my favorite Italian tapas in the entire NJ. I have been to Italy several times and this is the only place I know where the food tastes like you are in in Italy, especially the pizzas because their ovens are imported from Italy. I recommend the tartufo pizza with mushrooms and truffle oil with a glass of wine and also the burrata salad for starters with a nice pasta at the end. The service is impeccable and the place is spotless. Their pasta selections are amazing and the past is made fresh everyday. The good news? This place is affordable. If you like modern or traditional Italian food this is your place and the pizzas are to die for. The managers are very good in satisfying all accommodations and they waste not time when called. SO we came here a long time ago (when they first opened) and I wasn't all that impressed. That being said we came back and WOW is this place good. We went to Wood Stack Pizza on Father's Day. Even though the place was crowded, we really got personalized attention from the wait staff and manager. We had some small children with us and they were very accommodating to them. The food was absolutely delicious. The pizza has that unique flavor from the woodfired Oven. They serve the meatballs in a bed of polenta which was absolutely delicious. The rice balls with yummy meat and cheese laced with rice, Was sensational.
