I am a production manager and have used Vucacious Catering twice now as our food stylist for a couple commercials. The team at Vucacious is extremely helpful and communicative. Since this was not your typical catering order, we were required to have several pre production calls and examples of their work. Anytime I emailed the team or picked up the phone - I was always taken care of immediately and there were no surprises. On the day of both of the shoots, our stylist came on time with more than enough setting's and food. They stayed on set with us all day to help re-set the food and keep it looking nice. DELICIOUS & HEALTHY FOOD, PLUS AN ATTENTIVE WAIT STAFF & HELPFUL PLANNERSI have catered three parties in the last two years with Vucacious.  The first was a 100+ guest luncheon for my mother's life celebration. The staging was tricky because there was a memorial service later followed by a buffet luncheon. The second was a double baby shower for two of my nieces, three generations on the patio. The third was an open-house reception for family and friends. During each of these, special attention was paid not just to yummy food, but food that was appropriate for the guests and time of the event. Each was beautifully executed. She served the following:March Premium Asian Market SaladKim Chi Fried Basmati RiceAsian Fusion Soba NoodlesAsian Spice Rubbed Chicken BreastVietnamese Caramelized "Shaking Beef" TenderloinFarmers Market Tofu Stir FryThe flavors and textures of Kim's foodstuffs are unsurpassed. She is a food whisperer - that is to say, a remarkably talented chef. Her Asian Spice Rubbed Chicken Breast may be the best chicken dish that I have ever eaten. The intensity of the flavor is wonderfully moreish and a decided culinary triumph. Her Caramelized Beef was another great success and it was eaten up...it simply disappeared. Now that is a successful dish! Her Kim Chi Fried Rice is an excellent example of that dish...exemplary and so very fine. Ditto the Farmer's Market Tofu that featured a terrific combination of tiny new potatoes, cauliflower and chickpeas alongside the perfectly wrought (and full-flavoured) tofu. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I hired them for my traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony that included a lunch. The service was EXTRAORDINARY. Kim was highly detailed oriented, energetic, professional, accommodating, and responsive. Her assistant/planner Brittney was equally nice and excellent. They provided the whole service from the equipment rental to setting up to decoration to food to serving to cleaning and even packed up the left over for you. I had an incredible experience with Kim and her Vucacious from start to finish with our office holiday party. I had put out the call for several other vendors, who came back with 2-3 appetizers and a dessert tray for my budget. Kim gave me a huge spread, full service staff, rentals, all for the price that the other caterers gave me a really sad menu.Kim was also a master improviser. We had scheduled an outdoor event during the week of the LA-Bel Air fires. *She* called *me* to see if I wanted to reschedule the event. I feel like most people would be less-than-generous with an act of god like this, but Kim was great, and we rescheduled for a couple weeks after. Little did we know just how freezing and windy the outdoor space would be on that date--but Kim showed her professionalism again and we revamped and brought the party inside. This doesn't even get to the food, which Kim prepares very well in a spot without cooking apparatuses. The food was flavorful, the desserts were insane (I had several for breakfast the next day) and everyone else felt strongly about the food too!I would highly recommend Kim and her team for your event. I called Vucacious and got to talk with Kim herself. She was so easy to communicate with, responsive and helped solved my whole weekend getaway food dilemma on very short notice. Plus it was the busiest time of year and she still fit me in (without making me feel like a burden). I wanted a special dinner for me and two best friends and she was able to put together a menu that catered to one friend who is vegetarian and gluten-free while still offering my meat-eating friend and me delicious options. Our getaway was not close to a grocery so she suggested (in addition to our private dinner) some pre-made dishes/meals, which kept well and we ate like queens the rest of the weekend.Chef Kyle came to prepare and serve the dinner for three on location. He also brought the aforementioned food we planned to live off of while we holed up! It was all fresh, delicious and kept well. I found Vucacious Catering on yelp and now return to yelp to encourage others to engage their services. Canapes for 20 were ample and delicious, beautifully conceived and presented based on the particulars of our situation. The food was delicious - including two different plates of fish, fig chutney with endive, bruschetta with a rich tomato topping, and grilled vegetables. Kim helped me stay within my budget. Kim Vu made our holiday party a complete success.  She was a great phone communicator and her enthusiasm was evident at first contact. She visited our home to meet with us and see the venue and completely set us at ease with confidence and her amazing suggestions. Party night her amazing staff (and Kim to help set up) were on time, courteous and fun. Both the food and service is outstanding, and having worked with her and her team on a few events as a planner, I can say I am never disappointed! We had Kasey and Kim cater our Open House in our new office.  We wanted a cocktail style event with heavy appetizers and a bar, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the service we experienced!  This complimented very well with the outcome of the event. From the planning to execution, every aspect of the event was well thought out.  Our guests commented on the creative display and array of appetizers and the best part is, we didn't run out of food! We had Kim Vu cater an Italian-themed sit-down, family style dinner outside for a fund raiser for our kid's school and it was a resounding success. Kim's can-do outlook is easy to work with. She and her team are creative, forward looking and amazingly affordable. Our guests who have pretty fancy tastes, stopped many times during the night to comment on how good the mixed drinks were. They commented on the prochutto and fontina wood-fired pizzas finished with micro-greens and olive oil. They gushed over the oven-fired branzino. In the end, they left the house and outside area as clean as they found it. They BLEW AWAY the price of the other firm that I had bid the project and delivered far more.At this point, Kim has 35 5-Star votes and nothing lower. Make this no. 36 and counting. Let's do it again (and again and again) Our thanks to Vucacious Catering for making two at home events great!  My wife decided to celebrate a major milestone in her life twice in one week and with the help of Vucacious, both parties were great(a brunch and a dinner). Both the brunch and dinner were small events(no more than 13 people).  The food was wonderful and the drinks were great.  Our child(9 years old) even got to help do some of the prep and she loved being involved and watching the Chef's work in our kitchen.Our guest were impressed with the presentation and how tasty the food was.  Now we are thinking of the next event we should celebrate and have Vucacious back!From planning to set up to clean up, we can whole-heartedly say we would hire Vucacious again.  We loved the food and we also greatly appreciated the professionalism, creativity, and responsiveness. Working with Vucacious in LA was one of the best decisions we made this year.  Kim, the owner, is extremely professional, experienced, and always prepared.  She came to our event with excellent staff, delicious food, and a great attitude.  Kim worked with us prior to our event to put together not one, but two custom menus for two different asks.  Both were fantastic.  Our guests loved her staff who kept them entertained at the bar and throughout dinner.  In the event world when you have to factor in catering to the setup, who you go with can make or break the event.  In this case, Kim Vu and her Vucacious team complete MADE our event. Our company has worked with Kim and Vucacious Catering on several events we've hosted in the past. This was my first time, however, working with Kim, and I have nothing but great things to say. Kim put together a fantastic menu that perfectly fit the theme of our event. She also has a great eye for layout and flow, which served as a huge help when we walked through our venue prior to the day of our planned event (as this was my first time organizing the type of event we hosted). Even during the event itself, set up and clean up was fast and organized. Kim had a handle on everything, even coordinating with an outside staffing company, to ensure that the event was executed smoothly. Kim is everything you'd want in a caterer.  She not only helped me come up with a fabulous, healthy, delicious menu (for a small yet diverse crowd of people), she told me exactly what I needed to get for the kids.  Her chef, Oliver, worked magic.  We have a small galley kitchen, with little within easy reach because the rectangular lay out spreads everything out.  The party spanned from 3 to 10pm, which is a challenge.  Dinner service was planned for 5.  Oliver had the appetizers gorgeously presented by 5, with a continuous flow of other spectacular foods.  The pork medallions were tender, excellent quality, very well seasoned, yet low salt as requested.  Even the meat eaters loved the tofu skewers.  Chicken skewers were excellent.  Grilled veggies were incredible, as was the hummus and pineapple/mango salsa.  Oliver set up everything beautifully, had the food refreshed continuously.  Everything presented and tasted freshly made until 8pm, when the main dishes were put away, packed, cleaned up and cake service started, all seamlessly. This is my first Yelp review and I just HAD to write and tell everyone how wonderful Vucacious Catering and Kim are!! I was throwing a surprise party for my boyfriend's 50th on a boat in Marina Del Rey and didn't even know where to start with finding a caterer, as I have never used one before, though I am a bit of an aspiring foodie and cooking enthusiast. I wrote to a few different caterers that I found on Yelp and Kim was the only one that was so responsive and helpful from the get go, and so pleasant to work with! I didn't even know what I could get for my budget and she guided me to a wonderful menu with an exciting variety of flavors and choices. She worked within my budget and gave me a fabulous spread of easy to eat boat food with delicious dipping sauces and just really really tasty flavor combos! She was so professional and I never worried for a second about her coming through for me. It was fabulous and stress free on a day that had a a lot riding on it for me after all the surprise planning, etc... Even the delivery caterer, Matt, was great! This yelp review is in regards to the overall proposal/booking process with Vucacious Catering. I was given Kim's contact information from my co-worker who spoke very highly of her and the catering provided. Kim definitely lived up to the expectation. When I contacted Kim, she was EXTREMELY helpful and prompt in her responses. She quickly pulled together an estimate for me and went above and beyond to provide additional information that was very helpful in better understanding the costs associated with the party. I was looking to host a dinner party to celebrate my wife's 30th birthday. While I consider myself a decent chef, I wanted to be able to enjoy the night and decided to bring in a professional.  Kim was exactly that.  From start to finish Kim was very easy to work with.  I contacted and priced a number of different private chefs and Kim was the only one who took my generic idea of what I was looking for and transformed it into an amazing 7-course Italian feast!  It was exactly what I wanted, though she had individual prices on each menu item so I could decide to swap out things for other items based on my budget.  I decided to keep it as is and everything turned out wonderfully.  We had 8 couples and every one of them were extremely impressed by the quality of food and I was very impressed by the service.  Kim and her crew also helped with table planning, setup, decorations, linen/chair rental, the whole thing.  Oh and the best part, they do all the dishes and wrap any leftovers and put them in your fridge which we enjoyed for the next week.All in all we had a wonderful event and I wholeheartedly recommend Vucacious Catering.  I will definitely be a repeat customer should I decide to host another event.  Thank you Kim! A++++Not living in Southern California, I wanted to find a caterer for our wedding who cooked with an Asian influence and finding Vucacious Catering on Yelp fit the first requirement. I also wanted a trained chef who was more than a home cook who started a side business. I wanted a caterer who had great reviews. Vucacious met my needs. Now how do I communicate with her from thousands of miles away? I was already going to trust that her food was going to taste good. Will we be able to make sure we got what we wanted and on time, without any hitches? We corresponded by phone and e-mail. The written descriptions of the proposed menu items were spot on. She made several suggestions as to a menu and was able to add specific items that I requested. She was very accessible the entire time. Kim is very friendly and helpfulKim catered our intimate wedding and did a fabulous job. Her food was delicious and tasted like it came from a highly trained chef. It was also presented in an elegant fashion. The food was plentiful; my only regret is that I was so caught up in the moment that I was not able to get seconds of certain dishes. First of all, I rarely write yelp reviews but...Kim Vu (of Vucacious Catering) is one of the most amazing people I have ever had the fortune to come across! I was planning my first big party (50+ people) at my house in Santa Monica and having never done this before (and filled with a healthy dose of anxiety), I looked online to see whether or not I can afford catering.  After calling several folks, I came across Kim who, hearing what I wanted, was kind, patient, and willing to work within my budget, while always being the eminent professional.  I can't say enough good things about her - the way she runs her business, her food, her interpersonal skills and her general easygoing and "willing to work with you" kind of nature.  She is one of these rare people who sees the bigger picture.  She is doing what she loves - making her clients wishes come true - rather than chasing short-term profit potential!
