Q&As

As the Owner and Director of VTA, I created these programs with a unique perspective for kids, where they take complete ownership of our productions. I started out in Dance as a child and trained with the Royal Academy in England. I went on to enjoy a 16 year professional performance career in Broadway shows, and enjoyed travelling and living in different countries. I absolutely love bringing out each child's individual talents and personality while building their self esteem and confidence in getting up in front of an audience. My passion for theater, matches my passion for children's arts education. There is nothing better than starting with a toddler who loves music and movement and watching them grow in their love of the arts and taking to the stage as a lead in our play after several years of taking our classes. Our summer camps are rewarding as I see children take to new challenges and step out of their comfort zones.

After a lifetime in the Theater industry, I started a family of my own. When looking for dance classes for my child, I tried three different studios. They were all teaching the same way for every child, with large class sizes and no endorsement of each child's creative process. My child was lost in a sea of discipline and conformity and lost interest, and requested to quit. So I started my own classes and kept the class sizes smaller, created my own unique and engaging curriculum and vowed to embrace every child who came in the door. I expanded on the different programs offered and added summer camps and performance opportunities. Years later, my daughter is now attending a top university and was accepted into their conservatory, majoring in Theater acting and minoring in music vocal performance as a Musical Theater student.

AT VTA, we offer a broader education and understanding of the complete process of creating and producing a musical theater production. We do not have kids performing shows that were written for adults, we do not believe in mimicking or copying material that was set on Broadway professionals. We actually teach the foundations of Acting, Dancing and Singing and also invite students who are more interested in the creating and production of a show, an all inclusive experience of what it takes to write a story, adapt it to a musical, how to write lyrics to a song, how to create a character, how to direct, stage manage and produce a show. We believe in inspiring the future creators of theater. Our kids leave our programs, knowing exactly what it takes and what to expect in further arts education as well as assessing what they want to work on and how to achieve their goals.
