What a great little healthy escape at Verde Kitchen in Costa Mesa. I stopped in for a quick bite and was very impressed with the menu and relaxed atmosphere this place offered. I had the warm bacon and spinach salad which knocked my socks off because of that drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette dressing, dried cranberries and purple onions.But they offer much more on their menu than just delicious salads like wraps, sandwiches and yes, even avocado toast!! And the customer service was excellent thanks to Ari, who was serving up beer on tap and soft drinks to those of us who were driving. I'm almost nervous to leave such a glowing review... because Cafe Verde is the BEST kept secret in Costa Mesa. I work next door to the MET, and I host events as part of my job, and eat lunch here at least twice a week. As an event planning veteran, Verde is the BEST for a casual mixer/happy hour. We were able to reserve the entire patio and had delicious (and very filling) appetizers and drinks. Verde Kitchen is such a hidden gem, that I'm honestly a little sad I don't work in the building anymore! The food here offers great prizes, fresh ingredients, and a welcoming environment. They have daily specials, and nothing on the menu has ever disappointed me. The breakfast is amazing, and I especially love the farmhand bagel. You can tell that all the produce is picked with love and attention to detail. The service is also very quick, and the people there will know you by name if you go often enough (which you likely may end up doing!) They also host events like weekly trivia, and will show sports games when there's a big game playing. I think it's absolutely wonderful that they try to build a small community within the office buildings through small but meaningful efforts, like a group pool to bet on who will win, and the trivia nights are incredibly fun as well. The team that wins trivia even gets to get a free breakfast the next day. After I visited the food trucks a handful of times, I didn't even bother anymore. Ownership is passionate and it shows in their food! Staff is always super friendly and attentive. Allison is a motherfucking star! Catering is OUTSTANDING!!! I threw a 60th birthday bash last night at our community clubhouse and had Verde Kitchen cater dinner. We had about 30 people and everything from the delicious appetizers to yummy martinis to an amazing steak dinner was excellent. Karen and Jay worked within my budget and I felt I got an amazing value for the price. They are lovely to work with, extremely professional and left the clubhouse spotless. Came here to pick up lunch last week, not going to lie, it was a bit difficult to find, so make sure to follow the GPS.PARKING: Once you make it to the parking lot, you will have to grab a ticket. The first 15 minutes are free, then you are charge $1.50 per hour after. The restaurant does validation, but they only have a limited amount. They ran out by the time I came to pick up food unfortunately.RESTAURANT: Honestly a very cute little shop in the center of the plaza. The entrance is inside one of the buildings, so if you follow your GPS, it would indicate that. There's indoor seating and outdoor seating. I love both spots, there are long glass windows for you to look outdoors, and there's also a cute grass area outside for you to sit and enjoy your food as well. It's definitely very hipster.MENU: They offer lunch sandwiches, bowls, and sides. Most are $8 - $11, so fairly affordable lunch. I ended up ordering their turkey sandwich ($8), which is their most popular item on their menu. I was satisfied with it, I just wish the bread was a bit toasted, but the sandwich itself was very fresh and the turkey was really delicious.CONCLUSION: I wish I could have stayed to eat if they had validation, but I was really impressed that my food came out fast so I didn't even have to pay for parking. The grounds are beautiful! Herbs and the cutest fruit trees growing next to the seating. I had the cold brew coffee with vanilla cream & the Smoked Tuna sandwich! So yummy! My son had the BLAT and he's very particular about his bacon...he loved it! I haven't tried the food trucks yet but I love the idea of all this different food coming to the same place! I've tried their breakfast wrap with bacon, avocado, and a cilantro-avo aioli sauce that's to die for. I've also tried their "World's best club". Big claim, good sandwich. AN ABSOLUTE MUST!!! The food is delicious; fresh (grown right there!), flavorful and wide variety! This place is incredible!!! I got the Tomato Basil soup and grilled cheese sandwich soup was made from the tomatoes in the garden on the premises. The soup was hearty and had great flavor. The grilled cheese sandwich was different than most as it wasn't greasy but really flavorful. I mean how can anyone make a grilled cheese sandwich not greasy? The ambiance of this place is so welcoming and comfortable. I love the entire garden and felt relaxed and that I was eating healthy (which I was). This is a fun, energetic place to get a quick bite of high quality food. It was great tasting and filling. Highly recommend for lunch. Before I entered the restaurant the smell of a smoker hit me drawing me in like bugs bunny floating towards the sweet aroma. The restaurant had a garden in the courtyard. I could taste the freshness in the food. Cool creative use of the seating outside and three food trucks where also there. Can't wait to get back and try the rest of menu. Love love love this healthy new hipster cafe at the Met where I work. At first when I got a handout of their menu when they were opening it this summer, I wasn't that excited to try it, nothing on the menu really stood out to me to be honest. But today was my first time trying it out finally, and WOW, I was pleasantly surprised. This is healthy food but it is very fresh and FLAVORFUL food at the same time. I tried out the BLAT sandwich and a couple of the side salads and everything was delicious and filling. The prices are reasonable and worth it for something healthy and tasty. Fresh and from scratch is the way it rolls at Verde Kitchen. They even make their own salad dressing. The homemade soups are delish. The smoked chicken on the Rancho salad is my favorite which apparently the owner makes himself. Really enjoyed the outdoor feel of the cafe, a welcome relief from being couped up all day in a office. Look at my profile - I don't write a terrible number of reviews, but when a place deserves it, I can't help but heap praise. The new environment, first of all, is top notch. Bright, airy, comfortable, modern, beautiful. The food, from what I had is just delicious. I had the "World's Best Club" and a mixture of perfect bacon (I don't know why or how), a generous portion of thick sliced chicken (or turkey if you choose), and the PERFECTLY toasted bread, along with a side of the rosemary potatoes (DOOO ITTT!), left me wishing I hadn't eaten yet so I could eat it all over again.
