What makes a great website?
EXPERIENCE - PERIOD
Everyone that uses the site needs to have a great experience with it. Let's take these one at a time. Elements of experience include
- Usability - Can everyone from visitors to the people maintaining the site not only easily access the site but use it easily.
- Message - assuming usability is in place the site design must accentuate and enhance the brand and effectively communicate a compelling message.
- Convert - If usability and message are in place then the visitor will be having a great experience....the site must then earn its keep and deliver results. A "conversion" can be anything from having visitors join your cause, contact you or click to purchase. A site that doesn't complete the experience by making this conversion an obvious and easy step has failed.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
We are very careful to understand you and your companies DNA - Our clients come to us from very different places and our questions and time together look very different depending on your situation. Some typical examples are:
1) Clients that are amazing at what they do and are quick to admit that they are not web experts. They want to take their passion, vision and brand and put it into a website.
2) Clients that have a dialed in vision of what they want and, having researched what it will take, recognize that they need an expert who can make their dream a reality and do it right.
3) Clients who have an idea of where they want but aren't sure about what is possible in a website or if their ideas will translate into a "good" website.
4) Innovators with a new product and/or Idea who are looking for guidance and partnership to help them convey the idea well and "get it out there" on a large scale.
5) Clients who have been frustrated by "free", DIY or friend and family built websites.
What do you love most about your job?
DIVERSITY
Diversity of experience and the diverse people and companies that we are involved with. The most satisfying thing for us is when we see someones eyes light up or hear the excitement in their voice when we "get it right". There is a very special feeling deep down that resonates when you see something that is exactly what you know it needs to be. WE LOVE THAT FEELING and strive for it in every project we take on.
What inspired you to start your own business?
We became extremely frustrated at not having the tools to make the websites we wanted so we developed the tools and spent years perfecting our craft. Today we have the pleasure of taking all that hard work and using it to help other people grow their businesses.
