About

Covid-19 update: Dog training is not considered to be an essential business and the Safer at Home order by Governor Newsom does not allow in-person training. The good news is that dog training by video is safe and effective! My free 15-minute consultation can be done using video so that you can try it out!

I highly recommend Kayla for dog training. My dog Stella Artois, and I have been working with Kayla for the last several months and my friends, family, and neighbors have noticed a big improvement. Stella had a hard start in life as a breeder dog in China, and then she was dumped off at a slaughterhouse. As a result of being abused, and lacking any socialization she had some severe issues, including dog aggression and fear of people. Kayla has been great at explaining the psychology of dogs, and giving me the necessary skills and tools to train Stella. This is the greatest part about working with Kayla. She empowers the dog owner by giving us the skills needed to work with our pups. I now have a greater understanding of how to train a dog, and look forward to seeing how my rescue, Stella, continues to improve. Thank you Kayla!! More...

Kayla has helped me with a few of my dogs. One was a pound dog that had major issues. Kayla really helped me so much with managing him, and helping him overcome some fears.
Currently she has helped me so much with my Service Dog who is very opinionated and intelligent. I was having difficulty motivating him to do things he'd rather not do. Now he will go into his crate without issue and will leave my bed or car when I ask.
Kayla uses positive methods and the dogs respond well. I always contact Kayla first when I have a dog issue.

Q&As

Things I love:

- watching fearful dogs gain confidence and joy
- helping owners enjoy their dogs more by fixing behavior problems

I am a graduate of a 2-year, prestigious program called the Academy for Dog Trainers. This rigorous two year program immersed me in all the theory and practice of dog training as well as learning how to best help the human side of the leash help their dog. I also have a master’s degree in psychology with detailed knowledge of how animals learn .

Services

Fearful dogs may look scared, cowering and cringing. Or they may look aggressive because they're trying to increase distance. If your dog is afraid of strangers, children, noises, sudden movements, I can help.

When your dog guards his food, bones, or toys, effective and humane help is available. You don't need to argue with your dog, or force him.
Help is also available for location guarding and for dogs that are jealous when humans or other dogs come near "their person".

I can help your dog:
- walk on a leash without pulling
- stop jumping on people
- greet people politely
- stop fence fighting
- etc

- crate training
- house training
- go to mat
- "watch me"
- manners
- leave it
- come when called (this is a specialty! So effective and so much fun!)
