Fantastic and fun place for kids and adults alike. More of a sweet shop than a traditional bakery. They do all the baking there and offer baking classes and kids parties. Cupcakes, cookies and ice cream are delicious. You can build/customize your own treat, which the kids love. Have a decent seating area to pop in. Went to our first party since my girls were diagnosed with celiac disease and the hosts were nice enough to get gluten-free cupcakes from Treat. The chocolate plain jane... were anything but plain. I've been a customer of Treat Cupcake Bar since it first opened. They've been able to accommodate all my special catering orders including my wedding! Love that Treat has plenty of flavors to choose from and can accommodate gluten-free allergies. It's so good that I can't tell the difference between gluten-free and non gluten-free. Can’t say enough good things about Treat’s gluten free/vegan cakes. We got two cakes - one in plain Jane vanilla and one in plain Jane chocolate. Both were amazingly delicious and beautiful! My 4 year old has milk and egg allergies so he had never had anything but homemade cake, and when asked what he liked best about his birthday party, he quickly answered, “the cake!!” Well worth the money! My husband and I have always been fans, but today we had our 4 and 5 year old daughters' birthday party here today. They wanted a party where they could make something, so despite living all the way in Quincy, we decided to have it here. Our friends came from Methuen, Westford, and Wakefield and it seemed a pretty good location. Once Natalie started the party, we realized we made a great choice! The kids started by decorating cupcake boxes, then they rolled and shaped fondant. After that we had some pizza, followed by frozen yogurt sundaes. Our daughters and their friends (ages 2-13) loved it! Not only was it well run, organized, and very reasonably priced, the cupcakes and frosting were fabulous! Even the adults loved it. We found out about some fun classes they offer and hope to return for them soon. Our kids haven't stopped talking about it. We only wish we took a few business cards to share with our friends! This is a lovely place, bit pricy, but that is to be expected with the designer cupcake trend.
What I liked best is that they have dairy free, gluten free, soy free, and egg free cupcakes.
I am allergic to dairy so I got the Haystack vegan, gluten free cupcake (Chocolate cake/coconut frosting/chocolate). It was fantastic, I got it to-go (it was in a laminated, cute, to-go box) and ate it when I got back. It survived the 30 minute drive unscathed and was super tasty when I got back. It was moist and chocolately and did not taste like cardboard (common with gluten free baked goods) and the icing was great. Would highly recommend for someone with food allergies who rarely has the pleasure of eating dessert out.
Note, because I know it is a concern: the df, gf, ef, sf, cupcakes are kept in a separate case from standard cupcakes. There are some that are just gluten free. There are none that are just vegan.
