We hired Tim for our wedding in June. His photos were wonderful, natural and just what we were looking for. Tim has a fantastic eye! From the moment we met him he made us feel completely at ease and relaxed. Neither of is particularly comfortable in front of the camera but Tim's professional yet approachable manner made it easy. We are so happy we had Tim as our photographer for our wedding day and engagement shoot. Tim is incredibly flexible and worked with us to find the package that fit our wants and budget. Also, he was patient with our engagement session where he gave recommendations on locationsand shots.

We jumped on a few calls with Tim to make sure we're on the same page, and he was quick with replying to our questions via email/call. Tim also arrived early for our wedding day to avoid traffic, and he was generous enough to start early on our wedding day. This made the pre-ceremony sessions smooth and stress free.

We have large families who do not speak English, but Tim gave quick and effective instructions that made the family portraits quick (and relatively painless). We have a lot of family and friends who were in the way with their camera phones, but Tim was professional in side-stepping or having them move to make sure he could capture the shot. It was such a seamless and easy day for both of us. Our guests have commented that Tim never stopped moving! He was always working to get the best angle for our shots.

Tim is not only a talented photographer, but easy-to-work with and such an awesome guy ! For the sake of getting to the point, you should choose to work with Tim for 3 reasons: his photography, his professional presence, and the fact he is just an awesome guy. When I was searching for photographers, Tim came highly recommended and I loved his work. I was looking for his documentary-style of photography, which I feel really captures the essence of your special day (although we certainly got the required staged family and wedding party photos in there, without them at all being cheesy or forced). Additionally, I was thrilled to learn Tim is very low maintenance when it comes to equipment; meaning he's not going to roll in with tons of lights or tripods that I often feel ruin the ambiance of a wedding. He has such an amazing eye and will guide you where, when, and how to take the best pictures. (The night of, he and our wedding coordinator even made the executive decision to move up the cake cutting because of the incredible sunset! ) Given I am extra Type-A and thorough though, I wanted to explore my options. I reached out to him and a few others via email, and spoke to them on the phone. Right away, I loved his demeanor and personality. He was calm (but not dull), confident (but not at all obnoxious), and clearly loves what he does. It's important to remember you will be spending pretty much your entire wedding day with your photographer(s), so clicking personality-wise was super important to me. Tim is honestly the best photographer you'll ever find. He is incredibly talented, and has a knack for capturing the "real" vs staged moments. After working in the wedding industry, and helping to plan my sister's wedding and then planning my own wedding, it is beyond clear that Tim is the best in the business. Tim is easy to work with, thoughtful, easygoing, and is such a pro at what he does. He makes your day completely seamless and stress free, and never gets "in the way" like a lot of wedding photographers and videographers do. tim was an absolute pleasure to work with. He arrived early to our hotel on the day of our wedding to scope out places to take pictures and to also go over our desired photos to make sure we got everything we wanted. He kept us on time throughout the day, and even learned all of our parents and siblings names!He was unobtrusive during the ceremony, which i found to be very impressive seeing as it was a bit of tight quarters. During the reception he made sure to gather the groups we wanted to take pictures with and then grabbed my husband and I last. We picked Tim for our wedding because of the quality of the images in his portfolio. We wanted photographs that we felt wouldn't look dated in a few years. Tim's work is crisp, clean, thoughtfully composed. If "well mannered" could be used to describe his photography, that's what we might say. We stalked him pretty hard before deciding he was the guy, so we knew what we were getting in terms of his work. What we didn't expect is how much he added to the day itself. This guy is a soothing calm in the eye of the wedding day storm. High needs family members, fructose fueled children, insecure camera hating bride... Tim is unflusterable and makes balancing all the moving parts look like a ballet. He has an excellent sense of humor and is a damn good photographer. Tim Ryan Smith was such a great photographer to work with.My fiance and I are living and getting married in the Southern California area but are originally from NY. We had already taken engagement photos and have a wedding photographer, however, toyed with the idea of having some NY engagement shots while back in town for the week.I emailed around to several different NYC photographers, and Tim really stood out. His work speaks for itself self, but his professionalism, quick responses and understanding of the type of photos we wanted is everything you could hope for in a photographer. He was also able to accommodate our last minute request and squeeze us into his busy schedule!Upon meeting, Tim understood our vision and pulled through, capturing some pretty kick ass (not cheesy - my biggest request!) shots. Tim was beyond fantastic to work with, I feel so lucky to have found this gem of a photographer. He photographed both our engagement shots and our wedding and we were thrilled with the results on both occasions. My husband and I loved him so much that my sister ended up hiring him to photograph her wedding a month later and he did an equally if not even more fantastic job. He is both extremely organized and creative. From start to finish working with him was seamless, easy and so much fun. He's not a " typical" wedding photographer which is exactly what we were looking for. He works with you as a couple, gets to know you, puts you at ease behind the camera and takes magically candid, authentic shots. Tim was wonderful!! I can't say enough good things about our experience with Tim. I would recommend him to every couple looking for a photographer with both an amazing eye and a calming and friendly demeanor. After a long search, we met with Tim because his aesthetic and style were what we wanted - photos that were cool, interesting, fun, and captured the beauty and emotion of the day. We felt comfortable with his calm and friendly personality right away, and felt relaxed around him during every interaction we had with him. On our wedding day, I felt so happy that I went with Tim because he was open to all requests, but provided the direction our large family needed. We felt unsure about letting a stranger into our lives on such an intimate occasion. It’s funny to think about now, because after having Tim at our wedding, we can’t imagine what we would have done without him. Choosing Tim turned out to be easily one of the best decisions we made.

Tim was excellent in every single way. He incorporated everything that was asked of him, took the reins when we were lost, was engaging and charming with our guests (but still got a rowdy and large crowd to assemble for posed pics! ), and, most importantly, delivered gorgeous photos that we will treasure forever. My wife and I were married along the Hudson River in an outdoor ceremony during the early evening, with a cocktail hour indoors, and reception following in a tent outside at night. Tim wonderfully navigated these three very different locations and lighting situations expertly. Our photos are warm, intimate, candid, and beautifully composed. He has a real gift for taking pictures that put you right in the action. Plus, the final album covers all facets of the wedding – which is great because it flew by and I would not have remembered it all! We have some lovely scenery pics of the grounds, photos of the decorations and venue, elegant family portraits, goofy candids, and of course tons of brilliant photos of the two of us. My wife and I could really, truly, not have asked for anything better. Another thing that impressed me about Tim was his presence as a participant in the wedding ceremony, because he was as inconspicuous as possible. I have been at a few weddings now where the photographer has ambled down the aisle, snapped some photos, checked a watch, stood with hand on hip waiting for the next ‘segment’ to arrive. It’s those sorts of careless and conspicuous actions that can really ruin the mood, and I appreciate deeply that Tim honored our moment by blending into it. He also made a great call on our ‘first look’ photos. Though my wife and I had ourselves picked a location, one that the venue recommends, after Tim took a lap around the grounds he suggested an alternative – and he was right on the money. We are so grateful to him for really keeping our best interests in mind and working hard to make us happy.Tim was truly a joy to work with throughout the entire process. He was available in the months prior to the wedding to meet and come up with a game plan, as well as get to know us and our preferences, styles, and hopes for the wedding. From our very first conversation, Tim made us feel comfortable, excited, and genuinely cared for. He was always happy to meet or speak with us and knew how to handle everything we needed. Our first photo session together as a couple was our engagement shoot. We both felt a little awkward going into it but working with Tim had us laughing and feeling relaxed about the whole thing. He would give us direction without needing to say too much. He would let us walk and talk and he captured amazing shots of us. At our wedding, we were so excited to be working with him again and we were blown away by the photos. His ability to see a photo in different layers and texture is astounding. The weather may have been rainy, but you would have never known it by the colors he brought out and where he took us that no one even realized was right in front of our eyes. Working with Tim was one of the best decisions we made in wedding planning. First, his photos speak for themselves; they are gorgeously composed. Overall, we look natural and happy in our portraits, as do our family and friends. In all of the photos, the images capture the feelings we had, and it's so lovely to look back on. We expected to have beautiful photos that documented the day and helped us look our best (and they do!) but we were surprised at how artistically stunning some of the photos turned out - interesting photos that do more than tell a wedding story.Second, Tim was a consummate professional, while also being authentic and chill at every stage. He was early to every meeting we had; he was responsive over email and delivered on every timeline; and all of the contracts/systems were super user-friendly. On the day of the wedding, he had us ahead of schedule, though we never felt rushed. His temperament with our family and friends was lovely. There were a lot of us, with folks sometimes wandering, taking their own photos, or directing Tim and he was calm, direct, and humorous. Everyone felt so comfortable with him (and it shows in their expressions). He took every photo we asked, without disrupting the flow of the evening. We have photos from every angle of our ceremony, including an upstairs window, and his style was so unobtrusive we didn't even notice. At the end of the night, when the venue -- and me and my husband! -- forgot about cutting the cake, Tim remembered and coordinated getting the cake, cutters, and reminding my husband to put his jacket on. We used Tim Ryan Smith for our wedding and engagement pictures this past November. We took engagement pictures with him almost a year to the day before our wedding and we are so happy we made the decision to. It is always a bit awkward taking pictures in front of someone you just met, but Tim made us so comfortable. When our wedding day finally came around, Tim was a sense of relief and calm on such a hectic day. If he wasn't our photographer you would have thought he was an old friend. I cannot say enough amazing things about Tim Ryan Smith. He was referred to us by a friend after many other friends “poo poo’d” their “super expensive and not worth it” photographers! Let me start off by saying Tim is so easy to deal with. Your photographer becomes your wedding coordinator on the big day, in a way, so you better feel comfortable with him/her. He is extremely personable and all our guests/relatives/friends enjoyed their interactions with him. He helped organize the day (not to mention he fielded tons of emails/calls from me) and took control of our “easily distracted” families and managed to squeeze in a million amazing photos in limited hours. Now on to the other important info… his pictures! They are amazing. We started off with our engagement photos and Tim was able to take what most would say is a boring background and turn it into the most incredible picture. We walked around the streets of Chelsea and Tribeca and his professional eye spotted tons of creative/unique photo ops! We loved all of them and even used one for our Save the Date. Also we just got his wedding pics…might I add only 3 weeks post the wedding. How many people can say that about their wedding photographers!?! Loved working with Tim for our wedding! He was fantastic from start to finish with a meeting weeks before the event to go over what we were thinking, what we wanted to capture, all the details to delivery of the photos. We were planning on having the wedding at the courthouse but our plans changed with about 48 hours notice and Tim was so flexible and understanding. We valued the photographer more than any other vendor and focused our resources appropriately. Tim is truly the best photographer there is. First of all, he is talented beyond belief so incredibly creative, in this case a picture is truly a thousand words because I can't give enough praise. We knew he was our guy from the reviews alone but after meeting him for less than 30 seconds it was a no brainer. He has a calm presence, patient and very adaptable/flexible, which are all qualities that are equally important in our book since he will be by your side on that very special day so we wanted someone whose company we could enjoy. Although his work is that good if that didn't apply we may have overlooked it, but he is the real deal and the whole package. In addition to his creativity what stood him apart was his willingness to listen to achieve our vision in collaboration with providing his own ideas. We were so relieved that he gave us direction especially because we don't do photo shoots every day and it can be a little nerve wrecking. The engagement shoot gave us a taste of what to expect so we were happy we had the opportunity to do that. The pics for both engagement and wedding were absolutely phenomenal. We loved working with Tim and cannot recommend him enough! We were referred to Tim from a friend of ours and, after looking at his work, we immediately knew that we wanted to work with him. Tim was everything we could have asked for ... friendly, reliable, responsive to our inquiries, flexible (we had an outdoor wedding and, because of the ominous weather forecast, I threw a curveball at him by changing the wedding date the week of and he accommodated us!), and, most importantly, so talented. I cannot say enough amazing things about Tim Ryan Smith. He was referred to us by a friend after many other friends "poo poo'd" their "super expensive and not worth it" photographers!  Let me start off by saying Tim is so easy to deal with. Your photographer becomes your wedding coordinator on the big day, in a way, so you better feel comfortable with him/her.  He is extremely personable and all our guests/relatives/friends enjoyed their interactions with him. He helped organize the day (not to mention he fielded tons of emails/calls from me) and took control of our "easily distracted" families and managed to squeeze in a million amazing photos in limited hours. Now on to the other important info... his pictures! They are amazing.  We started off with our engagement photos and Tim was able to take what most would say is a boring background and turn it into the most incredible picture. We walked around the streets of Chelsea and Tribeca and his professional eye spotted tons of creative/unique photo ops!  We loved all of them and even used one for our Save the Date.  Also we just got his wedding pics...might I add only 3 weeks post the wedding.  How many people can say that about their wedding photographers!?! Before we chose to have Tim capture our special day we first wanted to see his work so we looked at his site and instantly saw the quality, care, and love he poured into every piece of work he completed. We scheduled a call with him and after 30 seconds on the phone we knew he was perfect. Tim was an amazing resource throughout our planning process as we were able to ask questions about venue setup, lighting options, and even flower colors to which he was happy to answer and give thoughts from his experience and act as a sounding board for ideas, it was perfect. As we got closer to our big day Tim was available and always made time to answer all of our questions about timeline and scheduling quickly and thoughtfully. When the day came he was on time (actually about an hour early) and was ready to handle all that the day threw at us. He and his partner captured our wedding through a spectacular lens and were able to bring to life our celebration through each frame. The pictures are absolutely stunning. We continue to look at them each day with smiles and tears of joy as it allows us to relive each and every moment again and again. What an amazing man. Throughout the process he was excellent, detail oriented, and best of all a genuinely great person. We are so happy we went with Tim for our wedding photography. Neither my husband nor I love taking pictures, but Tim said he would make it as natural as possible and he truly did! He took the time to get to know us and our style prior to the wedding, helped us organize what kind of shots we wanted and then day of did exactly what we spoke about. It was amazing- no one felt like they spent the entire day taking pictures- and the pictures were BEAUTIFUL and exactly the style we wanted- candid & natural looking. Working with Tim was one of the best decisions we made in wedding planning. First, his photos speak for themselves; they are gorgeously composed. Overall, we look natural and happy in our portraits, as do our family and friends. In all of the photos, the images capture the feelings we had, and it's so lovely to look back on. We expected to have beautiful photos that documented the day and helped us look our best (and they do!) but we were surprised at how artistically stunning some of the photos turned out - interesting photos that do more than tell a wedding story.

Second, Tim was a consummate professional, while also being authentic and chill at every stage. He was early to every meeting we had; he was responsive over email and delivered on every timeline; and all of the contracts/systems were super user-friendly. On the day of the wedding, he had us ahead of schedule, though we never felt rushed. His temperament with our family and friends was lovely. There were a lot of us, with folks sometimes wandering, taking their own photos, or directing Tim and he was calm, direct, and humorous. Everyone felt so comfortable with him (and it shows in their expressions). He took every photo we asked, without disrupting the flow of the evening. We have photos from every angle of our ceremony, including an upstairs window, and his style was so unobtrusive we didn't even notice. At the end of the night, when the venue -- and me and my husband! -- forgot about cutting the cake, Tim remembered and coordinated getting the cake, cutters, and reminding my husband to put his jacket on. Tim Ryan Smith was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. He is more than we could have ever hoped for or imagined in a wedding photographer. He is a true talent and is super creative.
