What makes a great website?
A great website should be light and fast loading with a flexible theme for all size screens to give a mobile friendly experience. Most searches today are done on mobile...and many business sites are still not showing up optimally on mobile. The issue of having an older site with flash (which does not load on mobile) is also another problem for today's mobile world. And today's websites need SSL certification or they will find themselves being penalized by Google---or even worse--- scaring away potential customers with the "unsecure warnings" that will pop up on their sites.
Video should also be featured prominently on today's websites to give an outstanding user experience. Video makes the site more engaging and attractive and also makes it more "sticky." (People will stay on it longer). Video also communicates a message significantly better than static content with significantly more information able to be distributed and understood. It is a critical piece in today's marketing arsenal...which is why we are specialists in video marketing!
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I like clients to provide a budget range so I can guide them to solutions that will be effective for them but still fit their financial budget. For instance, most clients are unaware of the time investment in creating some types of video presentations...for instance a classic cartoon video with frame by frame animation. Yet they may still request it. even though that degree of precision (and cost) may be unnecessary. A whiteboard animation might be able to communicate the message as effectively and less expensively.
I also like to know the purpose of the project and the needs of the business so to give the client as many informed choices as possible.
Describe your creative process.
I gather as much information as possible about the needs of the business. If the project is video, I would discuss the script with the client and assist them in the writing of the script if necessary. A storyboard is next developed which the client approves. (An animated storyboard may also be developed to help the client visualize the direction of the project). Characters are also developed, created and approved before any animation takes place. Voiceover work will also be completed by a professional voice artist -- I give the client several voice artists to choose from. We continue to work on the production through all the rendering and reviews by the client until the video is perfect!
A not so dissimilar process takes place with the creation of an app, website, or even a series of illustrations or logos. The client receives milestone files to review at every step of the way. We work until our clients are 100% satisfied--that is our guarantee!
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
Any website with their information is helpful. Also it is helpful if they send examples of what they are visualizing for their own project..be it a video style, a website theme, or an application that they like,
What do you love most about your job?
I love working with clients and I very much enjoy marketing and the creative process all rolled into one! This is fun!!
