The Park Avenue Inn

The perfect inn! Beautiful, intimate, elegant and very welcoming. The inn keeper, Kate, and her assistant, Anne, told us “we want you to feel at home” and from the very start, we absolutely did! The rooms are beautifully decorated, each unique and distinct. The breakfast was a delicious meal served in the elegant dining room or the lovely dining table in the giant, warm kitchen. There are inviting porches on the front and the back of the inn. We especially enjoyed sitting and visiting and drinking coffee each morning in the rockers on the screened back porch. My daughters and I were visiting Tallahassee for a family wedding. We stayed in the May Oak Suite, which was wonderful. We hosted a luncheon that was in the style of an English Tea for the bride and her bridesmaids on Friday of our stay, which was absolutely superb. All the food was fabulous and the presentation was five stars! The next day the bride and her maids got dressed in the Sycamore Suite, a romantic setting with a beautiful private solarium that has lots of places to sit, bright, lovely sunlight and beautiful views of the large oak trees native to Tallahassee. I served the ladies a casual lunch downstairs in the dining room and they totally enjoyed themselves on the very special day! Kate and Anne were so helpful with everything. I cannot say enough about how accommodating they were! Our wedding weekend turned out perfectly in great part due to the Park Avenue Inn and Kate and Anne. The Park Avenue Inn is a perfect place to visit! The location is wonderful – a short drive to anywhere you want to go in Tallahassee. We loved our stay and will be back! More...

The Park Avenue Inn is more than a bed-and-breakfast. It is truly home away from home. Kate and Ann are warm, caring, and friendly. Breakfast is a family-style opportunity to get to know the other guests while being served a feast. Guests can use the living room, porch, screened porch, etc. so that the experience is truly welcoming.||That being said, there were a couple of surprises that, had they been disclosed up front, would not have created negative reaction.||First, a credit card is required (no big deal) with the charge posting at the time of booking (OK). But a credit card surcharge is applied (2% if I recall correctly) on the room rate plus all the state and local taxes. I get it, but it would have been better if this had not been a surprise AFTER booking. Transparency in creating expectations makes for happier guests.||Second, the web says that there is free parking. Again, partially true but not the whole truth. There are 3 curbside free spots (although there are more than 3 rooms/suites). Other parking is at parking meters that must be fed during the day. During our visit, two of the three free spots were taken by an employee and a guest of owner or innkeeper, leaving one free spot for guests. Again, the description as "free parking" is not complete or exactly correct for every guest.||The Rotunda Suite is amazing, but be aware that the shower is VERY SMALL. My spouse was unable to wash his feet because there was not room to bend down. Also, this suite does not have a true closet, but an armoire that is somewhat small and not full height for a woman's long dresses.||Would we stay there again? Over the past 6 months I have stayed at TPAI on two occasions; both for a week or more.  It is a 5 star experience and I highly recommend it. In February and August 2019 I brought a team of people from my law firm to try cases in Tallahassee.  We booked the entire Inn for a week or more.  I cannot imagine staying in a hotel and having anything close to the wonderful experience we had at TPAI.  I asked my team, clients, and expert witnesses who all stayed with us and they each described their rooms, beds, bathrooms as sublime.  The morning service (breakfast) was on time and delicious.  On some nights when we needed to stay in and work, we arranged with the staff to prepare a dinner for us for an additional charge and it was fantastic.  When I return to Tallahassee, I wont be calling a hotel, I will be calling TPAI and making a reservation.
