I found these law offices through yelp and I'm really glad I did. Everyone at this office is welcoming and kind and they do their best to make you feel as comfortable as possible. I can sometimes over talk but they are understanding and listen to every word you have to say while genuinely listening to you. It had been over a month since I was able to be with my dog while going through my divorce and once I hired them they were able to get me temporary custody within a week. I was so surprised but overjoyed and extremely happy with the results. I am so grateful to Nigel Burns Law Offices. Both Brandon and Nigel have helped me through such a difficult time. I have felt safe with them. If that makes sense. Throughout my child custody case my ex and his lawyer have gone to desperate and extreme measures. It has been such a tough emotional roller coaster. Brandon and Nigel are not only really knowledgeable they are superior lawyers.They supported me in every way. Brandon does such great job of explaining what was going on every step of the way. He breaks it down so I can understand, most of the legal terminology is over my head. He has sort of a "tuff love" way about him that I found very helpful. He is extremely thorough and talented. I've been working with Nigel and Nick for several months now so I have a really solid grasp of how they operate...TIRELESSLY. I've worked with many lawyers and many different types of lawyers over the years and the Nigel Burns Law Offices is one of the best. In fact, I really can't say enough good things about Nigel Burns and his associates. Nigel was my attorney for a wrongful death lawsuit, the case wasn't straightforward but Nigel and his associate Brandon wrote a very compelling mediation brief — one that I thought captured the very essence of the case. Because of this we settled for more than I ever thought we would. I found Nigel to be professional and caring. Brandon was exactly what I needed during this phase of my life. My wife was leaving me and being very obstinate in our mediation negotiations. She was making emotional decisions that had no legal basis. Brandon helped me know what I was entitled to by law so that I didn't give too much ground, while at the same time understanding that going to court was worst case scenario. Even though I was extremely satisfied with the results of my custody and support case (Brandon luckily referred to as a "one shot in a million"), I found it hard to write my review after the hearing was over (even after, I am came out with the best results one can have in my instance). This was an extremely emotional and terrifying experience, but through the grace of God and luck, I was directed to Nigel's page after being called in for an emergency custody hearing by my ex. Nigel called me back right away and told me my options and the cost. He was willing to work with my budget and miraculously see me the same day (the hearing only gave me 24 hour notice). He situated me with Brandon Wyman and they got to work preparing my case, emotionally supporting me as well as throwing in some tough love to get my head wrapped around what will be a nightmare of an experience in the upcoming months. My ex was extremely vindictive and spent much time and money trying to pull me into court, knowing full well, funds were limited. But Nigel and Brandon were not in it for the money. They worked with my budget and cases (yes, that's right...there was 3 total in the span of a month) not detrimental for their attendance; they assisted me in representing myself. Brandon WAS there, however for my support, custody (and the most difficult cases to win-I've been hearing), a MOVE AWAY order so I could be closer to family and my support net. He guided me through the process, gave me tough love and counseled me for the upcoming battle. He was extremely honest about what he thought the results would be at the end. There was no sugar coating what the possible outcomes would be. Needless to say, both of us were extremely surprised to have my move away order granted as well as be given primary custody. I couldn't have done it without Brandon nor Nigel's help. I apologize deeply that it's taken me this long to write but after a traumatic episode, I needed some time to deal. My children and I are very happy with our new start and life up in the Bay area. All I can say is be prepared for your case, help your attorney any way possible, listen to his advice and be aware of cost analysis vs. court cost. Brandon was super knowledgable and knew his stuff. One extremely handy tip: Their offices are across the street from LA courthouse in DTLA. It was super convenient to be allowed to park in their office, and walk with my attorney to the courthouse before our hearing. I wasn't worried about making it on time or in a traumatic case like mine, feel alone during my court hearing. Also, when we needed last minute documents or copying, Brandon was able to get his assistant to run over to him while we waited our turn.Did they cost an arm and a leg? Of course, because they are the best and they are attorneys. But it was worth it for peace of mind for that missing arm and leg. Which I have up here. I have to immediately qualify those five stars by noting I am not Mr. Burns' client. I was at a crossroads in my case with another attorney - at such a crucial juncture, I felt compelled to consult other attorneys to make sure we were on the right track. Nigel was kind enough to speak with me at length, and he clarified a few points that made me much more comfortable with where my representation was taking the case. If you're looking at Yelp reviews of Law Offices near You, It's probably because you're facing a crisis of legal consequence and need a lawyer. In December 2015 a legal action against my husband and our s-corp threatened the future of the business  we built together - the center of our lives. However corny this sounds, the truth is that Nigel restored the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel when he accepted our case. I'll expand on why I agree with Yelper Mark N. who said is best when he wrote... " There is no need to shop around..." Nigel is accessible - He returned my initial phone call within 20 minutes...on Saturday afternoon of a 3 day weekend. After agreeing to help, he immediately sent necessary documents to my inbox. By Sunday morning he officially represented our corporation in a (totally bogus) lawsuit.  Each subsequent communication was equally efficient.Nigel is Attentive -  Nigel understood the suit which named my husband and our business after our initial 15 minute phone call. The lawyer who was initially advising my husband took 5 precious days to read the summons and advise that although we did have a defense we would need another attorney to represent the business as an s-corp and it would take 3 days for him to refer us. Basically, those 5 days cost the allowable response time we had to present the facts of our defense.  Nigel is Respectful - Who knew "respectful " and "lawyer" could be used symbiotically in the same sentence?  Since I'm livin' fast & loud in California, Nigel Burns Law Office isn't the first  attorney I've hired. I fully expected that he would speak to me with an air of annoyance which intends to convey that not only is my attorney the smartest guy in the room but I'm the dumbest gal in the room - wouldn't that make anyone a little bit nervous? I prepared for an inferiority complex to add to my fear and uncertainty; instead, Nigel's friendly, easy demeanor had a disarming and calming effect. He asked me several times before hanging up if I had any questions for him. Very Impressed.Nigel is honest - Of course the retainer fee and associated court costs were discussed during our initial phone consult. Again I was surprised that instead of deferring to an assistant or secretary to talk money, Mr. Burns outright explained his retainer fee and how his fee might compare in the industry.
