I started going to Emily Wells about 6 months ago and I couldn't be happier! I'm someone who likes to change my color quite often and not only does she accommodate but she exceeds my expectations every time. My fine hair can be a challenge but she's given me the best cut I've ever had and managed to keep it healthy and shiny. Emily Wells is truly a master of her trade! I had long hair that needed a natural highlighting, some volumed layers, but also a clean look for working in a medical office. The catch is I wanted something that would show off my natural brightened look as a healer, an illumination to my cheery personality. (Essentially I wanted ombre highlights and balayage for summer and wanted it to look like I had not gotten my hair done!). I like the beachy look but cleaned up and polished a bit, and in the past stylists have put highlights too close to my baby hairs, or too chunky or not bright enough and it has left me still in search of the person who will make my hair look the way I want it to, and not the way they want it to.Emily did highlights that were layered so beautifully that I can say its the best work I've seen and I've been getting my hair highlighted for 20 years from different stylists in san diego and hawaii. I had my hair cut and colored from her 3 months ago and my hair looks better every day. She truly listened to me and knew what would be best and confirmed which way she would take; i was part of the decision making process :) I wont be jumping around to other stylists, i have found my hair guru! She is absolutely amazing at what she does and her personality is interesting and fun to talk to! I like that she is cultured, edgy-hip, and goes beyond basic small talk. Amber did an amazing job on my hair! I had wanted a wine-like type of color for my curls and it turned out so great! I do have to admit that I had been a bit unsure of how it would end because of my curls, but Amber was very knowledgeable and even helped correct a prior hair cut that turned out to be uneven. Really cool, stylish, inviting environment + employees! As a straight dude who doesn't get fancy haircuts and can be easily intimidated by new environments, this all female group of customers/employees were extremely inviting, friendly, and genuinely understanding of my ignorance about hair/salons! I have been coming to Adrianne at The Lab for years and can't believe I'm only now writing this review! She is one of the best stylists in the city, with a keen eye (and hand) for haircutting, coloring, and (most importantly for a big-headed gal like me) for matching features, personality, and lifestyle with look. I cannot say enough about her or her team. Absolutely love this salon so cute, clean, hip, and everyone is so sweet and professional here!I went in not knowing exactly what I wanted I had heard about the Balayage technique had a coupe photos and well My stylists Amber took it from there! I love everything about the color, the cut and I also got a deep conditioning treatment that made my hair so so soft and 3 days later just as soft! They have plenty of products up front that are a must have for all you're hair care needs. This is the only salon I will go too and I drive all the way down from San Clemente just too have this amazing girl do my hair. I initially came here when Sandi did my color. She's amazing but I don't think she's doing hair here anymore. I switched over to Dre and she is a wizard when it comes to blonde and balayage. When I moved away from San Diego years ago, I actually would fly back for her to do my hair. She's that good.I'm a natural blonde but she makes my strands into magical unicorn hair. She also cuts my bangs better than anyone. If you want bangs, she's your gal.I've since moved away and it's been over a year since Dre has touched my mane. I miss her, the salon, the stylists, etc... Located in North Park, Lab A services run the gamut, from cuts for men and women, color (highlights, balayage, all-over, root touch-ups), to blow outs, and make-up application. This is a great salon full of great people! I've had Amber cut and color my hair a few times and couldn't have been happier with the results. She listens to everything you have to say then uses her expertise to execute it perfectly! Catalina is also super awesome, and does some amazing braids and hairstyles. She did both me and my husband's hair the day of our wedding and we both ended up with our hair looking exactly how we wanted it, and our fingerwaves looked fabulous ALL DAY! I also know that everyone who works here keeps up on their continuing education which is ridiculously important. A salon is only as good as the skills of its stylists, and these stylists have got the skills, and are sure to stay on top of them! The receptionist staff is also super friendly and helpful. This is a really awesome salon in North Park and Brittany did such a fabulous job on my hair. I have fine dirty blonde hair so I've been bleaching it blonde for as long as I can remember so you can trust this review 100% because I know BLONDE! From beginning to end this salons service and expertise hits a home run. I called in a week in advance to schedule an appointment for my girlfriend. They receptionist was very friendly and helped me through the process of figuring out what the heck kinda hair my girlfriend wanted. Walk up to the salon, greatly decorated and we were greeted warmly! The hair artist we booked was Yelena and I must say SHE IS FREAKING AWESOME SAUCE. She made my girlfriend look from a 100 to a 100000000 it the beautiful factor. My girlfriend was so happy for her birthday gift she can't wait to come back. The Lab A Salon does things right all the time. From the moment you walk in the doors the front staff is so friendly and greets you and offers you something to drink. I've been a loyal customer to Amber for 13 years now and her haircuts are simply the BEST!! She has extensive knowledge along with all the stylist at the salon. I've been seeing Alex for years. Her attention to detail is impeccable. Im a blonde and it's hard to find someone that knows how to lift color and keep the hairs integrity in tact and this is exactly what she specializes in. She will never let a client walk out unless she is fully satisfied with how it looks. I've come here twice and had two different stylists and was blown away by both. I'm very wary about who I let do my hair and every person working here seems to absolutely know their stuff and loves what they do. I get vivid color done and this place has more than a few ladies that know how to get the results I'm looking for. Today I had Carrine Zachary working on my hair and all I had to do was talk to her for a minute about what I was looking for and show her a picture and it came out absolutely perfect.
