We had dinner there last Thursday. Its in a such a wonderful location....right on State Street across from the Overture Center. The atmosphere is beautiful, kind of modern decor with pictures of movie stars on the walls. The music was 1940s and 50s crooners and Big band. Wonderful! We had the Thursday night special which was Paella. It was made for 2 and came with our choice of a bottle of wine. The food was fantastic. I would have loved the Tapas but the special was perfect (I will just have to go back). Its a perfect location for those going to see a show. Thank you for such a fantastic evening! More...

I've been to Icon at least a dozen times over the last several years, and I always come back. The food is very good, as well the service is friendly. It's true, they tend to be short staffed at times, but who isn't. I would rate it 5 Stars for the food and 4 for the bar/drinks. It tends to get a little more like a bar later in the evening. I love Icon - particularly the Tuesday happy hour when a grouping of appetizers and a decent selection of drinks are offered at reduced prices. It's also a great place to have a drink before and/or after a performance at the Overture. We did recently check out their brunch, and were somewhat disappointed in the food. It was good, just not as tasty or, perhaps not prepared as well, as that which is offered on their evening menu. So my friends and I came to The Icon tonight and had a PHENOMENAL experience. Lemme tell you about it: so we didn’t know what to get and the Bartender made a Jalepeño/pineapple shot and it ROCKED MY WORLD (totally recommend). If you want wine, cocktails, and some yummy tapas, this is the place. I love small plates, because you can try lots of different things. Excellent wine selection, but the last time I went I had a cocktail and watched the world go by out the window. They have outdoor seating on the sidewalk as well, but it was far too hot when we went, and we were glad to get into the AC. Right in the heart of downtown, across from the Overture Center, and on the same block as the Orpheum, so it can get quite crowded, especially if there is a show at either theater. But on other nights it can be quiet and a great place to actually have a conversation with a friend, especially for happy hour. Even when it is crowded, it's not loud and hard to talk, a nice change from many restaurants and bars. More...
