I took my young boys ages 8 and 10 yo to the Chestnut Hill location since we scrambled for their first cuts before Back to school. Will makes appointments so easy by walk in and online appointments. He is so outgoing very welcoming, and makes the environment family friendly for this hip shop. The location is perfect which is so close to the kids school!

Larry and the other female stylist (sorry I forgot her name) made the consultation so easy and always asked for my approval. They are both friendly and made my boys comfortable. You can tell they love their job!

I definitely recommend this to other moms in the NW area of you want your boys to have clean quality cuts. Great addition to Chestnut Hill! More...

So this is my third review of the Duke, and I must say I'm so glad I gave this place another chance.  Ken, the manager, personally reached out to me after my last experience, and has repeatedly demonstrated why he is a master of his craft.  He has helped me shape, trim, and grow my beard into something that really looks hot, and I've been going to him for the better part of 4 months at this point.  I cannot say enough good things about the shop, and Ken in particular.  I get so many compliments on my beard, and my husband Max thinks it looks so strong that he is going to start going to Ken for haircuts, as well.  Keep up the excellent work! I only go to the Duke when I'm in Philly. Great service, modern techniques, and a really professional staff. The price may be a bit higher than some other places in Philly but I believe with a haircut you really get what you pay for. I always recommend the Duke to my friends who live in Northern Liberties and I don't see any reason for me to try a different barber anytime soon. More...

I can't say enough about how exceptional this place is. I've never had the same barber twice, but I've been completely satisfied with each haircut I've received here. I request a fairly simple side-part haircut, but these barbers turn it into a work of art. It's gotten to the point that I look forward to getting a haircut a week in advance of my appointment. After a haircut at other places, I tend to make my own emendations to the cut (especially around my ears), but I've never had to do this with any cut from The Duke, and that includes cuts from their interns. You could pay a lot more and be less happy with a haircut at other places, but this place is solid, consistent, and relatively affordable. Duke Barber Co is amazing. If you want to get a hip haircut in a really great environment, I highly recommend it. Bridget is the barber I would go with. This place is awesome plain and simple. I was trying to get a fresh cut before July 4th weekend and like a bonehead I waited until the last minute. Even tho they were completely booked they said they could still fit me in since I had been there before which means they value loyalty. The atmosphere is fantastic from the help to the way they have decorated the shop with philly sports memorabilia to old school barber shop artifacts. They offer you a beer while your waiting too. Been coming here for a couple years now. I've had haircuts by 4 or 5 of their barbers, and they're all awesome. Always a great conversation and a consistently awesome haircut. Walked in and immediately greeted with a smile. Great atmosphere of tall, open windows providing much needed light. Nice music and charm. New barber Nick did a great job with my hair. I've always went to the Hair Cuttery for haircuts. 68% of the time I've been happy with the haircut. But I wanted to switch it up, so I can here. The atmosphere is just really awesome. I enjoyed getting here early just so I can sit back in a comfy chair and read the paper in peace. Lauren cut my hair for me. It took a good half hour for a simple haircut. I'm not complaining. My hair looked awesome. Nice fade in the back and shaped it up with a straight razor. Smmmoooottthhhhhhhh.The haircuts are a bit pricey at $33.....but you do get what you pay for. I am traveling for business and came back home to Philly to check the mail and see a few friends.  I was stressed, bent and annoyed so I thought I'd do something I always wanted to do - get an old school straight razor shave.  I made a 2PM appointment and soon as I arrived, I was greeted by a very stunning young lady who was named Ally, but I could be wrong.  She checked me in and offered me a cool water, chilled beer or a whiskey (Jameson on the counter).  Since this was my first time here I wanted to be straight to fully enjoy it.  So enough about the greeter - on to the shave!Within a few minutes, my barber greeted me and the session started.  Again I was asked if I needed a beer or a whiskey - I wish most bars were this attentive.The barber wasn't a guy - it was lady. If another shop tells you a woman can't be a barber - they arefull of it.  I honestly wish I could remember her name, but she was very very nice, friendly and had a soft yet firm hand.  After learning it was my first time she kept me informed of each step in the process and made me feel totally relaxed.  While laying back, I was able to enjoy the relaxing calm of a hot towel, warm shaving cream being applied as a total stranger took a razor to my face.  I was ok with this.   Within what felt like only a few minutes, I was done.  I felt great and wished now I grabbed the beer and shots.   I thanked her for her time and settled up with Ally.This is the ONLY downside:  If you pay with a credit card, you will get wacked with the transaction fee.  Also, they only do cash tips, which makes sense for a number of reasons.  So make sure you come with enough loot to cover your tab and your tip.  This is a guys kinda place but if you have a lady friend who is going to accompany you, they will feel welcome as well.  This is a clean, well done establishment.  Would I come back?  Most certainly.  A great shave, excellent service, adult beverages and friendly staff.Thank you to all! I've been a client of Will for a long time and it's been great seeing him progress towards reaching his goals with his beautiful shop in the Piazza. Wills talent alone as an exceptional classically trained barber would be enough to draw people to his shop.  His straight razor shaves are amazing. Close as hell and with zero irritation.His shop is clean, welcoming, and full of talent.  Treat yourself to a cut and shave and you'll leave fresh, relaxed, and looking good. While ur there, have a beer or a vitamin water, peruse his cigar selection, and even get your watch fixed from his in shop watch mechanic.  Follow closely for an upcoming expansion where The Duke will be expanding to a full one stop mens shop!Don't miss this place. I love this place.  Extremely cool, friendly people and a great atmosphere. Go in for a haircut at 10 am on a Tuesday, and you will be offered a glass of whiskey. Perfect. I'm picky about barbers. My father cut my caesars for most of my childhood, and since leaving home, for reasons of economy as much as pickiness, I've mostly done it myself. Until very recently, I had been rocking the full wooly, since being a freelance designer allows one the freedom to look downright scruffy, if they so choose. But, a new gig in the suburbs means both the cash and the cause to keep cut. I booked an appointment with Will about a week out and sat back. When my day came around, I skidded in from the suburbs with minutes to spare. True to their reputation, my coat was hung and a whiskey - Red Label, natch - was poured upon my arrival. As I stepped onto the cutting floor, however, I was told that Duke, not Will would be cutting my hair. As someone with a, shall we say, particular hair texture, I was instantly worried. Duke, though I was sure he was very talented, is white. I, and my hair, am not. I shouldn't have been worried. From the moment I sat down, I could tell Duke knew his shit. Steady hands, quick to take instruction and a keen eye for detail mark his work as easily the best haircut I've gotten in my adult life. A week later, my fade is still clean and my beard continues to look intentional, in spite of my not having put razor to neck since my cut. This place is ONE of a kind. My boyfriend is the most low maintenance type of guy, but this is 100% his guilty pleasure. I bought him a gift certificate a year ago as something cool to try out - and he's addicted. As soon as you check in, you're greeted by really nice staff and a beer or some whiskey. The waiting area is comfy with TV, magazine, coffee, water, etc -- so if you have to wait for your guy, it's never a bother.They literally spend the entire hour giving the perfect shave and haircut. Will is awesome, but every single person who has given my boyfriend a cut/shave has been professional and great. I occasionally purchase a gift card for my husband to be shaved at Duke's and most times he is happy, but there have been two occasions when the shaves were bad.  However, the people who were inept are no longer working there, so it seems that the boss runs a tight ship, which is good to know.  I also like that one of the employees there sports a mohawk.  The Duke is one of the few things I like about the Piazza.  :) More...

Exceeded expectations.  This was my first time getting a hair cut in the city after moving from NJ and it was an enjoyable all around experience.  The staff were very helpful when i called ahead and quick to help when i arrived.  My barber, Kenny, was very affable and made me feel comfortable and discussed what I was looking for before a snip was taken.  Ambiance was great including music and waiting area, and even offered coffee or libations to enhance the experience.
