Right on Michigan Ave. Everything we did was either walking distance away or easily accessed via the cta train or bus. The hotel may be a bit outdated however the room was very spacious. Had a fridge, safe, ironing board and the tv had many premium channels like mlb network. The bed was incredibly comfortable! We were a bit concerned reading the reviews saying this hotel is haunted however we witnessed nothing of the sorts. It is an older building and some balls and rooms need minor touch ups, but that's is why the price is so reasonable. The Golden Room and the Lobby area are BEAUTIFUL and have the majesty of a small palace. Conveniently located in downtown Chicago with a restaurant inside as well as easy access to Grant/Millennium Parks and close the the elevated train. Owned by Al Capone for a few years. One thing to remember is that this is not a "modern hotel". It is a classic hotel in need of very few touch-ups in a FEW little areas in the rooms. I was there for 6 days and enjoyed all but 3 hours there. They have two restaurants there. The first 5 days one was closed but that was fine with me as I wanted to explore and eat in other places. But my last morning there they finally opened the second restaurant ( just to left after you come down in the elevators) and I tbought Id have breakfast there, mainly because there was a race happening and the street was glutted with people. So I go in, find an empty table as there was no hostess in sight, and wait for someone go seat me and offer me a beverage. I waited waited waited and waited finally when I saw a frantic young man whiz by me( it turned out he was bussing) I made eye contact and he came over. I asked if I could get three things: silverware, a cup of hot tea and a menu. He was very apologetic and was back in flash with all three. Then I had to wait another 30 minutes for my order to be taken. I could go on but needless to say NO ONE got a tip and when I checked out I complained. I would stay there again and again and again, mainly its because its like a time trip, its convenient to everything touristy and it's clean!! More...

It was pricey, but everything was super expensive. Parking was 44 dollars a night. So make sure that all that is calculated correctly. We visited in the summer and very last minute. The room was clean, but there is a smell to all the rooms and hallway. Our bellhop, one of the nicest ppl we have ever met, his name was Micheal Bell!! The reason I gave this place a 4 star is the receptionist was rude the day of arrival, I accidentally ejected my card too fast and the biggest attitude rolled out that woman. The other reason is one of the elevators has a messed up pipe, definitely needs to be fixed; my toddler was running in that elevator all excited. And the smell!! Good location. Easy to walk to Willis Tower, Grant Park, Buckingham Fountain, and the Magnificent Mile. Navy Pier is a hike but not too bad. Rooms were small, but about what I expected for an older hotel. Staff was friendly. Parking was expensive, but everything is in a big city. For the price, I’d stay here again. More...
While the rooms themselves were a little tired and some of the finishings could use repair or updates, overall there is a wonderful charm to this place. The staff were awesome, service was always great. I loved the location right on the park and the value was better than pretty much anywhere else. More...

This hotel has a long history, the rooms are okay but quite old. The staff is very friendly. The metro / train station to the airport is very close and cheapest way to get the airport, depending of the time of the day, less than 5$ compared to the taxi 100$. I can recommend this place

The room felt inviting and was clean. Well maintained for an older hotel. I love the historical aspect of the hotel.
If you want every modern convenience then this grand old lady is not for you. If you want history, comfort, friendly staff, large rooms, copper bartops, marble staircases, brass doored lifts (elevators) that only fit 4 with luggage, you are in the right place.

The four of us had decided on a two bedroom despite us all sleeping separate for the sake of our budget. However, to our surprise we actually got upgraded to a two bedroom, 3 bed room suite free of charge. Score! We didn’t spend much time in the hotel itself seeing as we were actually in Chicago for an event, though, I wouldn’t have minded spending a little more time there. The interior was gorgeous and very appealing to the eye. They offer a breakfast buffet with quite a few selections, lunch, dinner and little snacks in between. The staff was very friendly and tended to all of our needs. I think my favorite part about the hotel was it’s location. You’re close to some of the best pizza joints in Chicago, many stores and a beautiful park. This came very much in handy because they charged an arm and a leg to actually park your vehicle in their parking garage (at $44 a night and $16 anytime you wanted them to give you access to your vehicle!). Though, we did stay on a completely booked weekend so it may have been because of the event in town. My only other complaints would be that the beds are extremely firm and that the televisions were small. For those reasons, I have no choice but to give the rating of four stars instead of five. I still very much enjoyed my stay and I’d recommend it to any friend. More...
Although the hotel rooms are older, they make up for it with their terrific service. Great location for walking to Millennium Park, Museum Campus, and Soldier Field.
For an older hotel, it's very clean. Great staff, fun bar area with good food!
Beautiful hotel, espesially if you'd like to stay near Grant Park.

That said, be forewarned, this place is historic and frankly in need of some attention. I wouldn't avoid it for that reason because, of its location and historic significance, but I'm just being honest. Lots of needed repairs throughout the property, mostly lots of cosmetic things. Muy bien ubicado, un lugar perfecto en Chicago.
El edificio es algo viejo y se notan ciertos signos de dicha antiguedad, pero en general está bien.
