Andy from TDC Entertainment was a doll to work with. We hired him to provide the entertainment for our cocktail hour and reception. He was very professional and always quick to answer any, and all, of the questions we had. Having DJ'd for years, he was very knowledgeable about music and extremely helpful throughout the planning process in that regard. He was also very flexible. On the day of the wedding our schedule changed quite a bit but he handled everything perfectly. I couldn't be happier with him and the company he works for. More...

All my interactions with everyone at TDC was great. Andy was the DJ for our wedding and he was great! Interactive, flexible, knowledgeable, and always had a speedy response to my random questions and requests. He helped us with some personal touches. The ceremony and reception went so smoothly. He really knows how to get a feel for the energy in the room and keep up with it to make the event keep going strong. He had set up uplighting in our reception area and chose the color perfectly. I didn't need to change a thing! More...

We hired Kyle at TDC Entertainment to be the DJ and MC at our daughter's wedding reception. Kyle took our daughter's dreams for her reception and ran full speed to create the perfect experience for her and all of our guests. Kyle delivered a flawless, super fun evening, reading the bride and the crowd perfectly. Thanks for being excellent at what you do and for going above and beyond every step of the way. We used Kyle Wilson at TDC entertainment for our wedding DJ. From our first meeting with him he was really easy to work with and open to our ideas about reception music. We worked with him to come up with a songlist that represented our personalities and helped create the atmosphere that we wanted our reception to have. During the reception he kept the party going and engaged the guests to keep them on the dance floor. Our only complaint is that it all went by so fast. He was announcing the last dance before we knew it. We would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a local DJ in Gainesville. More...

My husband and I hired TDC Entertainment to DJ our wedding in November and we loved it. Kyle was the perfect MC. I was always able to get in contact with both Tom and Kyle. They were both fantastic. Kyle completely worked around our schedules and met with us in the evenings. He helped us pick out songs and even introduced us to one of our new favorite artists. He has access to every song you could imagine and knows more than enough to be able to suggest songs based on your taste. Kyle was basically our impromptu wedding planner. No joke. We spend two hours in his office on a weeknight and we put together the entire timeline of our wedding. From start to finish with the music that went with each part of the event. My husband and I had no idea what we were doing and Kyle does. A few things got switched up last minute during the reception and Kyle just rolled with the punches. It was seamless. Tom is great and Kyle knows his stuff. We endorse them completely. More...

It was last minute that I had to scramble to find another DJ for my wedding--the week before my other DJ had to quit due to family emergency but connected me with Kyle Wilson! Kyle with TDC was fantastic! He took all of our suggestions to heart and even made some suggestions for songs that we didn't think of (but ultimately needed to round out the mix of music! ). He knew how to "read" the crowd and either speed up or slow down the music; his professionalism and awesome personality really showed through on our wedding day! He brought our whole event together and made the whole process very easy! Any changes or adjustments I needed to make were done quickly and easily. I highly recommend TDC, and I definitely recommend that you ask for Kyle! More...

We used TDC entertainment for our wedding and it went wonderfully. Andy met with us beforehand and really matched up who we are with what he could provide. It was seamless and perfect. They provided music for the ceremony out in a field and wireless speakers for the guests to enjoy on the veranda during the reception. The price was very reasonable. Consider using this great company for your wedding. More...

I used TDC for our wedding at the Thomas Center, and I can tell you that Tom from TDC was a great DJ. He did a great job doing the event, and even helped out our hapless caterer who was incapable of doing their job. Our wedding would not have gone smoothly without Tom's effort. Thanks Tom! More...

Everyone commented that this was the best DJ they had ever seen. He was very professional and talk about flexible--we asked him at the last moment to extend his time by 1/2 hour. He was super. Never intrusive as some DJ can be. He followed the plans for our music. Arrived early and helped set up for my grandpa who played his accordian for the wedding march. I would highly recommend this company. More...

We hired TDC to be the DJ at our wedding reception because they did my best friend's wedding and did a great job. We couldn't get the exact DJ who did their wedding, but our DJ was easy to communicate with, friendly, very prompt to respond to emails, and even sent a reminder email or two to me when I got behind on sending them my wedding reception planner (that they gave me). I sent them must play and do not play lists as well as a list of the wedding parties' names and how to pronounce them (it was a pretty ethnic wedding). Now here is where I ran into a few issues that I found highly irritating. Everything up until the actual reception was great, and to be fair, the reception was great overall as well, but just a few things were pretty darn uncool.
First of all, the bridal party lined up outside the reception to be announced as we made an entrance. Our DJ came by to double check about the names, and when he got to me (the bride), I told him how to pronounce my name and he sort of blew me off saying, "yeah, yeah" like he already knew. I had been in contact with him the whole time, so I figured he did too. He pronounced everybody's names correctly when they entered the reception EXCEPT mine. Seriously? I have been the only person in contact with you for months, give you explicit written out pronunciation, and tell you minutes beforehand how to pronounce it yet again, and then you mispronounce my name when you announce me into my own reception Ridiculous. Anyway, the other things I found a little off-putting were that he didn't play all our must play songs (although he told us there was no need for us to burn CD's of them, which we offered to do), he didn't play the right song during the bouquet/garter toss and the dance we had the catchers do (even though we HAD burned him a cd with those songs and a list of which songs to play when), and he did some of those cheesy synchronized dance songs that we didn't really want played (which we thought was apparent since the macarena and the chicken dance were both on our do not play list). Whatever. Oh, and at one point he played a couple really random non-wedding-y or dance-y songs (like muse) for whatever reason - totally not the type of music we had on our must play list. So weird. But, as I said, overall the reception was great... mostly due to the times when he did play the songs on our must play list - i mean, we did choose them for a reason - and also due to our awesome friends who love to dance... it was just those small bits and pieces that bugged me. Although now the mispronounced name thing is a running joke with my husband, family, and close friends and they all occasionally pronounce it wrong for fun. It is sometimes funny and other times just reminds me about our dumb DJ. Oh well.

Q&As

There is no one answer to that question - each event, and the people attending it, is unique. However there are several things that can be done to maximize the desired outcome. One big consideration is logistical. Always (whenever possible) try to have the dance floor in the main room. When it comes to dancing, people generally don't like to be 'put on the spot' (i.e. You must dance now!). People need to be free to socialize (around a bar, for example) and then they can be coaxed onto the dance floor when they hear their favorite song(s) and see others out there having a good time. I have always found it useful to rotate among the various musical genres and to keep an eye out to see what the audience responds to. Very often, there is a 'trigger song' which will get everyone on the dance floor and, from then on, it's all about momentum!

If I were to use one word to describe 'my style', that word would be 'Eclectic'. Before I became a DJ in the 1990's, I was a fan of Classic Rock, classical music and jazz. During the years that I have been hosting event, I have become thoroughly familiar with the myriad of musical genres out there and I have come to appreciate the uniqueness that they bring to the world of music. When I'm doing an event, I am able to (almost unconsciously) mirror the general tastes of the crowd be it Country, Urban, Alternative or Latin. Of course every group attending an event have varying musical tastes and I have learned to seamlessly move among the various genres, using, what I call 'bridge songs' to provide a smooth segue between them.

While I enjoy DJing and hosting a variety of different events (Birthdays, Anniversaries, Bar & Bat Mitzvahs, Quinceaneras, etc.), my particular favorite is Weddings! I have the opportunity to meet (and get to know) a variety of different people as they begin their new lives together. I am always learning and augmenting my experience with the variety of different wedding traditions from different cultures and backgrounds. It is a particular thrill for me to help provide people with a day that they have always dreamed about, one that they will recall with fondness in the years to come!

I am not the owner of TDC Entertainment, but I have been with the owner, Tom Collett for over 20 years! Tom is the PA voice of Florida Gator Basketball, Gymnastics and the radio voice of Lady Gator Volleyball. He founded TDC Entertainment in 1986 after working for a time with ESPN in various capacities. His natural way with people and his ability to entertain at various events led, naturally, to the formation of his own company, where he has been able to utilize his natural talents. I met Tom in the early '90's at a venue where he hosted a weekly karaoke show. My love of music and people led to an association with him, and my ultimately joining his company. We're still going strong here in 2018!

There are many DJ companies out there, but I believe what sets us apart is our love of the business and our particular attention to people and details. While there are a plethora of popular songs that people expect to (and want to) hear at an event, everyone has particular and individual musical tastes. We avoid the trap (which I've seen many other DJ's fall into) of ending up doing 'Cookie-Cutter' events, playing, virtually, the same music each time. We are able to do this by getting to know the people who hire us, finding out all of their particular likes (and dislikes), and blending it into an event which will reflect their distinctiveness and individuality, while, at the same time, providing all of their guests with a fun-filled evening! It all ties in with our company motto....At TDC Entertainment - It's All About You!!
