I wanted to give a big thank you and a recommendation for Zhanna Baranets Kelley and her business Taxologists Inc.
Zhanna has done my taxes for years and this year my taxes were more complicated than ever because of the starting of my own business and a large severance payment from my former employer.
She was more than up for the job providing quick, thorough and affordable service. While she is not a lawyer, she was even aware of a pending Supreme Court case that might affect my tax liability. After working through all my legal deductions, my ultimate tax liability was several thousand dollars less than I initially expected. That really set my mind at ease. Thank you Zhanna. Zhanna had done my taxes for many years and I couldn't be happier! She simplified the whole process for me. Why is it so important for businesses to hire a great accountant?
A business needs to hire an accountant that is very responsive, personable and in tune with their needs in order to make sure their accountant is there when they are needed - day, night, weekends and holidays. This is the type of service we offer our clients.
What do you love most about your job?
I love helping people who are in a bind - i.e. they owe the IRS, they haven't filed for many years, they are undergoing an audit, etc. I love rescuing people from tough situation and straightening out their financial life. My motto is "taxation with no exasperation".
What inspired you to start your own business?
I believe I was a born accountant. As a child, I used to save and tabulate all my receipts, I kept impeccable records/notes and inventoried my Halloween candy - the signs were all there. After I graduated Cornell with an undergraduate degree in Industrial and Labor Relations, my first job out of college was working as a manager for Liberty Tax Services. This is when I realized that my calling was accounting and tax - so I enrolled in an MS in Accounting program at the Zicklin School of Business. Today I have an MS in Accounting, MBA in Health Care Administration and I am working on my MS in Taxation.

My clients tell me that the best thing about working with me is how personal, responsive and knowledgeable I am. I am not perfect and I don't know everything. I am not afraid to admit it when I'm wrong and I don't know - but I go out of my way to research all tax issues and give my clients the best advice.
