I’ve been training at Tailored Strength for just over a year now and it’s made a huge difference in my personal well-being. All the trainers are incredibly friendly, professional, and attentive to any specific questions you may have or areas you’d like to focus on.

They offer private and semi-private small group trainings. I myself attend the semi-private trainings. Coming in as a runner with no real background in strength training I’ve been really happy/surprised with the results I’ve been able to to see within a year. The focus on functional mobility has also been a huge plus in overcoming some problems I hadn’t noticed developing from working a desk job since getting out of college.

I've been training with Connor for 6 months.  He is great--encouraging, knowledgable, funny.  I always look forward to my sessions (even at 6am).  The gym is a great facility.  It's never crowded.  And everyone is friendly and welcoming.  I get a great workout every time and plan to keep coming back. Awesome personal training from Ryan! He spent the time to ask me some relevant fitness and health questions, and tailored an interesting and challenging workout for me. Ryan is the absolute best! My friends and I recently had a small group class with him and he did an amazing job working with a diverse group who had varying levels of strength training experience. Ryan is super knowledgeable; he was quickly able to identify specific areas of improvement for each of us to focus on and developed a unique workout routine that challenged the entire group. I cannot say enough good things about Tailored Strength and Ryan. From the minute I walked in I felt so welcomed. What I loved the most is they really took the time to get to know me and my fitness goals to provide a personalized experience. Everything was spot on and I left there feeling stronger and more knowledgeable than ever. You can tell how passionate and dedicated Ryan is to his work and I really appreciated that. Ryan Taylor has been my trainer for a few years now, first at Xport gym, then through his own business Training By Taylor, and now at Tailored Strength.  He's a great guy who knows his stuff, makes it fun, and helps you get results. Tailored strength is it great addition to the wicker park/bucktown area. They offer both individual or group fitness sessions that are tailored to the individual's taking part in them. There are different options/packages for different price points, and it's honestly a great experience each time. These guys know what they're doing, and care about the people there assistingI definitely recommend checking them out for group sessions especially. They're easier on the wallet while still providing a substantially quality experience and building strength. More...

I have always been a "cardio guy" who has found it hard to find the motivation to get into the gym on a consistent basis. But working with Ryan has helped me find that motivation and see the results . I have been working with him for a few months now, and it has been a great experience every step of the way, and I even find myself anxious and excited to get to the gym for that next workout. Everything Ryan has done for me is specific to me, my body, and my goals. During our intro session he spent more time than anyone else has, trying to understand not only what I was looking to achieve and what challenges I have faced, but more importantly understand my body and how to get me there. The way he evaluated me and explained my weaknesses and where I can improve was eye-opening. It wasn't just about brute strength, but about balance and overall fitness. From there, I have seen nothing but improvement; My strength, balance, and overall fitness. Every day I am at the gym is something completely new, which keeps it interesting for a guy like me. And no matter what the workout is, I always leave knowing that I was challenged in new ways and it feels fantastic every time! It is very clear that he truly cares about helping me reach my goals and I cannot thank him enough for what he has already helped me accomplish (and what is yet to come!).I would recommend Tailored Strength to anyone, no matter your age, fitness level or goals. After 3+ years of saying, "I need to get in shape", and the following year always sneaking up on me, I realized I needed a major change. I've tried the gym memberships. I've tried the diets. They never became a consistent part of my life because I loathe gyms and hate depriving myself. Somewhere deep down, I knew I needed more accountability. I moved to Bucktown just under a year ago and knew finding a trainer in close proximity was key in order to stay motivated. The Google gods lead me to Ryan and Tailored Strength. It's been 2 months and I've already noticed drastic changes in my core strength, flexibility, and endurance. I know I'm not at the finish line quite yet, but I definitely owe my initial transformation to Ryan. Never in my life would I ever thought I'd look forward to 6am workout sessions!!! Just after a few weeks of training, my entire week feels off if I happen to miss a session with Ryan. He continually provides me with tips and tricks to working out on my own. He checks in on my eating habits regularly and is knowledgeable about when to make adjustments. Better yet, I get to rage out to rock music and not be subjected to Top 40 during my workouts - a MAJOR win in my book! My biggest fear about working out was the possibility of injuring myself by doing a lift wrong. My weight records have improved week over week without any serious injury thanks to Ryan's guidance. With his help, I now feel confident when navigating a gym on my own. Signing up with Tailored Strength has been the best investment. For anyone else out there constantly saying, "maybe tomorrow", don't wait any longer. Whether you're a beginner like I was or you've been training for years, Ryan is an exceptional trainer who can help you accomplish your goals. Ryan is incredibly knowledgeable and professional, with a great sense of humor that helps get you through those tough workouts. With Ryan's coaching, I've gone from not knowing what a deadlift was to deadlifting 350 lbs. in just under two years. Ryan helped me get my nutrition on track and showed me that lifting heavy weights is not just for men. It's been totally life-changing. I've trained with Connor for about six years and now work with him at Tailored Strength. I've tried CrossFit and Shred and both felt insufficiently customized and unsafe. I like Tailored Strength because I get workouts that make sense for me in a variety of different formats - both 1:1 personal training options as well as group options. Most importantly, I've gotten results. I strongly recommend Tailored strength for anyone looking for fitness results in a format that is more individualized than a class, but doesn't necessarily want to go all the way to 1 on 1 training. I've tried a ton of different gyms and fitness programs over the years in Chicago and I never found anything that worked until I met Nick. He is positive and motivating and he'll help you push yourself to the next level. I have lost weight, gotten stronger and finished workouts I could never do before.He also helped me completely restructure my diet and taught me about nutrition--which was no easy task because I'm obsessed with pizza and Doritos. Before I started with Nick I had a general health screen and some areas were flagged for concern. After I started working out with him consistently and adjusted my nutrition based off his advice, my next health screen came back with all my results in the optimal zone. Working out at Tailored Strength is an awesome experience. The gym is in a perfect location, close to the CTA and it has everything you want + some extra fun things you may not know you even wanted (like a med ball wall!) They also have a kettlebell kitchen fridge, which makes it even easier to for it be your one stop shop for fitness and nutrition.In summary: Nick is awesome, the gym is awesome and you won't regret trying it out! I’ve been lifting weights for 30 years. After so many years in the gym I started to just go through the motions. It wasn’t exciting anymore, but I needed to do it.

A few months ago, after only being able to stretch because of injuries, I decided I needed to make a change. I chose Ryan to be my trainer because of his weightlifting knowledge and passion to help people better themselves through fitness. He was able to quickly and easily identify muscle imbalances and is helping me correct them. My workouts are exciting again and I look forward to going to the gym. He’s been able to make a substantial amount of improvement in my strength and mobility in a very short time. I look forward to continued progress with Ryan and Tailored Strength.

I've gotten personal training with Ryan for around 6 months now and it was one of the best decisions I've made. I wanted a personal trainer who could create a program for me that fit my goals but also educate me so that I can replicate the same exercises on my own.

Ryan has not only met my expectations but also went above and beyond what I expected when I signed up for personal training. Not only did I get a personalized program for my goals, but Ryan acted as a physical therapist for me when it came to any limited range of motion I had or any minor injuries I had obtained outside of the gym. Along with exercise, I was also getting direction from him on how to eat healthier and general macros to hit.

Overall I'm more than happy with my results. I started out at 30% body fat and dropped down to 18% with a net 20 lbs loss. And this was in large part thanks to Ryan. He has made working out efficient, effective, and I daresay fun! If you're looking to take control of your health and fitness, I'm confident Ryan can help you. 10/10 would recommend.

Ryan, first is my family I’ll always support my brother. His knowledge an training to better himself an his current an future clients will be nonstop process for him. I haven’t been to his new facility he has invested in but it has new equipment an not only himself but other amazing trainers to help run the gym. Doesn’t matter if you’re looking to eat better an slum up, gain muscle, strength, be more healthy or just be around a fun person. Ryan wil always help anyone that wants to better themselves! Not an ordinary trainer that I’m used to coming across with a handful of different regimes he will take the time to make a plan to fit your needs not something that worked for someone else. In your first consultation, our team will use a FMS movement screening to fully assess your fitness level so that we can understand your limitations, your areas for improvement, and your needs. We’ll conduct a brief interview to understand your current habits and schedule as well as any goals you might have. Then, we’ll walk through your options for training—we offer one-on-one or small group training—and you can expect something completely unique to your goals and needs no matter your selection.

Since living in Chicago, I’ve noticed a lack of a “better together” mentality and a deficit of community in the gym. I wanted to create a place where everyone who walks through the door, no matter their experience or goals, feels welcomed and a part of the Tailored Strength family. My goal is that you get that extra motivation and support you need to take your strength and health to the next level. I plan to make a difference in this industry, and I believe it starts with creating a community of like-minded people working together to build something that is too good to stay away from.

Strength training has played a huge part in our owner’s, Ryan, life. Presenting itself as more than weight on the bar, but as confidence built over time to navigate though all that life throws our way. With Tailored Strength, the philosophy of “stronger together” rings true. We all have our “stuff”—different things we deal with everyday—but what helps us handle it all is the community we keep. Services

Personal training is one-on-one instruction that requires a deep understanding of your goals, needs, and limitations in order to make the most out of the experience. Every trainer-client relationship begins with a full intake consultation which includes an exercise screening (FMS), health history, personal goal setting, and a conversation about expectations—for both of us. We will design a tailored program for you based on this consultation, and from there, we’ll meet regularly to teach proper lifting techniques, introduce you to exercises that target your specific goals, motivate you towards your full potential, and track your progress over time.

Small Group Training is just as it sounds—personal training in small groups. Each session is capped limited to 2-6 people to assure each person gets the high quality and customized coaching they need. You can expect a team atmosphere and high energy every time. Every session is different and offers a variety of training techniques and methods. This is a cost-effective way to meet your goals and work alongside other people in the fitness journey. You’ll get all the motivation, support, and inspiration you need to achieve your goals…not to mention, a great workout.
