This is a locally owned bakery on the main road. They have a variety of desserts on display which include dairy-free/vegan options! Additionally they have a small menu where they serve actual food if you want to order something that isn't dessert. The guy who works here is Egyptian and is super sweet! I asked him about the dairy free options they had that day and he told me what was what. Additionally he was very personable which is always nice. I ended up getting 2 pastries, which I honestly cannot even remember the name of (they will be attached photos though) and they were dairy free! They were light and crisp but a bit too sweet for my liking (I'm a savory person so my sweet taste buds are a bit toooo sensitive sometimes). We ordered the Swedish Princess Cake and it was to die for! This was for my sisters baby shower. She had always wanted to try it after seeing it on TV when she was younger and I found this place that made her dreams come through. She had recently tried making one herself but the marzipan is hard to work with as a first time baker. This place is great! Wonderful selection of pastries. I have not tried the sandwiches or salads yet. The man who was working did not want to sell me a cannoli, because it was 2 in the afternoon, and he felt that I would be dissatisfied with the texture of the shell that late in the day. Great bakery with great staff. Woman behind counter always delivers great service and is very helpful whenever we have a special event or need to bring things for family or friends. We felt they were overly accommodating to our needs. The owner SAM IS AN AMAZING MAN AND WILL HAD DONE ANYTHING TO MAKE US HAPPY. We have bought several cakes from them and they just keep getting better every time! The type of cake is called a PRINCESS CAKE! I had my first princess cake in Northern California and fell in love with it when I move back down here to Southern California I haven't had one for 15 years we found out that there was a bakery in pow way that made these cakes I first had one from this bakery and was hooked I love them I had one for my birthday my husband surprised me and I was in tears because I was so surprised with joy I love these cakes they are very special and very dear to me whenever you have a special occasion and you want something very special these are the cakes for you I  Could recommend a better cake this cake is very light it's layered with whip cream  and a thin layer of raspberry. The only place in San Diego county that makes a truly Gluten-Free cake. I called 8 different bakeries that claim gluten-free all over their websites. When I told them the cake is for someone with Celiac they all admitted they are not truly gluten-free; they cross-contaminate. Swedish Royal Bakery takes "gluten-free" seriously. Yummy cookies and pastries. I've only been here a few times but each time I've purchased a different assortment of baked goods from the display case. I've tried the napolean, the cookies, the chocolate mousse cake/dome, and the green horn? I don't remember but they were all pretty good, except the chocolate mousse cake was ok...mediocre at best. It wasn't like a super fancy mousse pastry. Next time I go back I definitely want to try the talked about princess cake! The only downside is there's only one person working the front and and if you go near lunch time be prepared to wait. As she takes the orders and makes the food for the people dining in before taking any counter orders. More...

Great place to check out if you want lots of variety and don't want to pay a ton for it. We had an entertainment coupon so we finally tried this place for the first time and got a great deal on the box of pastries we bought. I can honestly say it's not the absolute best I've had as I have a sugar tooth and have frequented plenty of dessert shops, but it has an assortment of goodies that are typically hard to find in one place and definitely hit the spot. Of all the things we sampled, I was in love with the raspberry cookie which the man working was so kind as to get me a fresh one from the back. Excellent customer service! My husband really loved the cheesecake /chocolate cake combo. The cone thing was a little odd for me as it was just filled with cake icing, but my husband loved it. I really enjoyed the little.. [cake gems? Lol] ...I can't remember what theyre called. But I really liked the rum and mint ones and they're rich and tasty. Only thing I was not a fan of was the eclair. The filling had a slightly odd, somewhat artificial aftertaste which made it hard for me to enjoy and I'm a purist when it comes to my pastry fillings. Whhhhhha $22 for a cookie platter?!?! So cheap! We got one for my boyfriends parents for Thanksgiving and we all loved it (I tried very hard not to eat them all). The shortbread cookies are delicious and put Knott's Berry Farms vending machine cookies to shame. We had also gotten the jelly heart powdered sugar cookie and, ok... so what I LOVE about the jam is it is NOT TOO SWEET. I usually dislike jam because it is overpowering and really sugary but can I buy the jam they use please?!?! Everything pastry wise from here is so light, airy, flakey and sweetened just right. I went here because I am teaching my kids about Sweden/food/cultures etc. I decided that visiting a real Swedish bakery would be really fun, and IKEA just wasn't exactly. ..ideal. The gentleman who opened the door promptly at 10am was very polite, and patient while my kids decided which pastry to get. The pastries were great, and the coffee my husband ordered was great too. The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star was that it is not an authentic Swedish bakery. I am no expert in Swedish culture, but I learn alongside my kids with school, and I did not recognize any of the pastries we learned about. I DID notice some very non Swedish food. I asked the man if the owners were Swedish, he said that the original owners were, but went back to Sweden. I of course did not make any big deal about it, but I was a little disappointed because I wanted my kids to have some real Swedish stuff to go along with their learning unit. I called Swedish Royal Bakery from my home in New Jersey to ask Swedish Royal Bakery to deliver a special cake to my son's office in San Diego in honor of his 30th birthday. Sam is the boss and he personally handled my request and personally delivered the Princess cake covered in gorgeous Marzipan. Sam's daughter Dana followed up on every detail including substitutions I requested for the filling (strawberries instead of raspberries) and the decoration (fresh strawberries instead of roses), and all the delivery instructions. My son was thrilled. His colleagues invited him to a fake meeting and there was this gorgeous delicious cake that had been lovingly prepared and delivered by Sam & Dana. Â This is the second time I've asked Swedish Royal Bakery to deliver a birthday cake to my son's office and both times have been perfection. My son said the cake was beautiful and totally delicious. I don't usually write reviews unless i had a really terrible experience or a really pleasant experience. This experience was very pleasant, because the smoked salmon sandwich was unreal. Probably the best sandwich I have had in a really long time. Ordered a bunch of pastries for a client that I won't eat, but I'm assuming they are just as good.
