Stirling Guest Hotel

We were going to stay at a chain, but it was either full or they had raised prices so we found this mansion. Reminiscent of the Adams family house, but some how charming with a large room, comfy bed, lovely breakfast, and attentive hosts. Good find.

What a beautiful event space and property. The Stirling staff were extremely friendly and attentive during a recent wedding we attended. We stayed overnight onsite and loved the convenience of being close by for all of the festivities. The food was fantastic especially poached egg and guacamole at brunch and all of the fresh home made pastries. The Stirling is an absolute treasure to the Reading area and I hope the new owners receive the support of the local community for many years to come. Well done everyone! More...

We spent the weekend here for our annual murder mystery weekend. It felt like we were staying in a fairytale castle. Each room was unique and spotless and the food was delicious! Cesar was a wonderful host and welcomed us as family. He told us the history of the house, and hosted our event which was so much fun. I highly recommend staying here and cannot wait to come back! We had a large family reunion to celebrate the life of our beloved Grammy and we were fortunate to spend three wonderful nights at the Stirling House. From the moment of our late arrival to our sad morning goodbye, Cesar, John, Linda and the rest of their amazing staff made us feel welcome and at home. They really outdid themselves and were so accommodating to our wild bunch that ranged in ages from 4 to 70. Our group has some food allergies and vegetarians and, with every meal provided, they made sure those needs were met. My wife and I recently stayed at The Gables at Stirling for a weekend of activity in and around Reading. We were hugely impressed by the property, a historic 19th century mansion and adjacent carriage house (where our specious bi-level room was situated) and the meticulous restorations that have preserved old-world charm while adding modern conveniences. Even more, we were impressed by the gracious hospitality of the family that runs the place. John and Cesare prepared dinner for us after our very late arrival on Friday evening, and an early breakfast the next day. The staff was able to accommodate all of our requests including adjusting the menu to accommodate for allergies. A few of our family members have allergies to eggs and nuts so we wanted the entire evening to be free of these ingredients to make all of our guests feel comfortable. The Gables at Stirling took this request to heart and made it happen. All of the food tasted delicious and our guests told us about it. All of the guest rooms were extremely clean and well taken care of, the grounds were maintained, and all of the staff were so friendly and helpful. This was a stay of perfection from entry to departure.||First you are greeted by John or Oscar and than taken on a individual historic tour. You will be asked about a refreshment of your choice. The chef is out of this world and cooks individual fresh farmers market food made to order. I really enjoyed my stay at The Gables, the hospitality of John and Cesar was absolutely wonderful. Their aunt is also wonderful and made sure I had some wonderful banana bread and coffee in the morning (since it was before breakfast time). The Gables is full of history and I enjoyed the tour I received upon arrival and learning about the Sternberg family. My only suggestion is to fix up the wallpaper and plaster in some of the rooms, it's a little rough around the edges, but overall the building is absolutely beautiful!
