We enjoyed having some tea from Palais des Thés in the spectacular lobby of the St Regis. The hotel could be refreshed a little. ||Our waiter was attentive and very nice. "Go for just the ceilings", words I've never written to start a review. The hotel is castle-like in it's stately manner and old world charm. Heavily staffed to make sure you don't have to do anything more taxing than press an elevator button or swipe a room key. ||||The rooms are LARGE and kingly. The amenities modern, yet classic. They have shoe-horns. I like shoe-horns. Shoe-horns are good. ||||The lobby is warm and inviting and not so deep you're walking the length of a football field to say hello to anyone. There is a reason why St Regis is rated by TA as one of the very top hotels in DC. Understated elegance, outstanding service staff, personalized attention and great location in downtown DC. The rooms are most comfortable and well appointed. The bar and restaurant are outstanding (albeit, a bit pricey). A most relaxing and comfortable stay in one of the iconic hotels in Washington as well as the country. If you have a choice and desire to be in that area of DC, St Regis is the choice! This place is beautiful and the service is extraordinary. The only thing that kept me from 5 stars was that the rooms do feel a bit dated and I found it frustrating that the doors must be opened by one of the bellhops and sometimes they were caring for another customer so if you had your bags and they were doing something else, it was difficult to get in and out. I understand the allure they are trying to create by having someone open the door, but it doesn't really seem necessary. More...

Hands down this is one of the most stunningly beautiful hotel I’ve ever stayed at. It’s a few blocks away from the White House and in the center of all the action. ||The reception area is one of a kind. Its a private enclave and gives you a more relax and special feeling just checking in. Our front desk person was very friendly and accommodating, she was also from California and understood what we needed.||The valet and bell person were all friendly and helpful. We always travel with tons of luggages and it was seamless when we checked in.||The bar & restaurant crew were very friendly and attentive. I’ve reviewed the Alhambra restaurant separately and the food there is simply exceptional.||We stayed at a Caroline Astor room. It was elegant and classy in every way. The color scheme of baby blue envelopes the entire room. The living room and bedroom furniture pieces were first class interior design. The details and quality of the furnishings were noticeable. The bathroom design is one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen, modern furnishing surrounded by classical marble design. ||As a Marriott Ambassador Elite, we were given complimentary breakfast but we didn’t have a chance to enjoy it. I’m sure it would been terrific food. ||The best part of this hotel is the main lobby. Brings you back in time to the elegance of the 1920s, beautiful and classy, blending modern and antique, contrasting beauty. I traveled with my husband for a planned get away for relaxation. The hotel staff and valet people were very friendly and accommodating. The concierge was very helpful in us getting tickets to the African American museum and monument. Something I wouldn’t have been ableTo do on my own. There are far to many great things to say about this hotel. It was luxurious, it was clean, the staff was incredible, it had everything and then some. We went for our 30th anniversary and my husband and I are pretty much working middle class. It was hard to spend the money on something this extravagant but alas we decided too. Lovely friendly staff that always remember you, gorgeous homey interiors, great bar (I only wish it was open later, as that does put a damper on evenings with work colleagues, etc. ).
