What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
The best way to take a successful photo for a client is to listen to what the client is looking for and how they plan on using the photograph.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
The questions can be as different as the assignments, so there's no one set of questions to ask. But certainly knowing what end result the client is trying to achieve is the best piece of information to have. Beyond that the questions are about timing and logistics to have the shoot go smoothly.
What do you love most about your job?
The thing I love the most is that I can take my talents and experience and give the client something they can't produce on their own. There's a tendency for people to think that the only reason to hire a professional photographer is because we have more expensive cameras. There reality, however, is that what makes a great photo is the talent and knowledge of the photographer, not what equipment they use.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Commercial photography is a very client-oriented business where a successful outcome is based on having a good relationship with the client from the start. It's easier to make this happen as a business owner rather than as an employee.
