Tampa
RESTAURANT DESCRIPTION
The Castro family emigrated from Spain and established the Spain Restaurant in Downtown Tampa in 1980. The food (Tapas & Entrees) offered here is a representation of the northwest region of Spain, known as Galicia. These traditional recipes have been passed from one generation to the next and are commonly served in Galician restaurants and Bars.

This was the final stop on our Tampa Bay Food Tour (Riverwalk), with a sampling of desserts. A great finish for the night. The staff was great and the crepes were amazing. If you go there, also use the salt rub when you wash your hands. Wow!! More...

We went last minute with no reservation on a busy Saturday night, they did everything they could to get us a table, after a few mins we were enjoying their great food and show! The croquetas are the best!

This restaurant doesn't have parking. You can park on the street if you can find any- or pay to park. We found two lots a block away that wanted 9. 00 an hour which was rather unfortunate. You can find better parking in the garages etc it just depends how far you want to walk. The restaurant was not busy the night we went and we were seated immediately. I spoke to the waiter about my gluten allergy. He was fine to check with the chef's to make sure everything they prepared was not cross contaminated. The menu has GF next to everything that was gluten free so that takes out the guess work. The house salad was really great, I wasn't to wowed by the Sangria, but it was a good price ($25 for a pitcher). I haven't had ropa vieja since I went GF so I was excited they had it here and it was pretty good. My husband's shrimp dish was also really good and the shrimp were very very tender. We ordered a lot of side dishes just to try out as much as we could eat. Everything was great except the collard green soup- it was not good and that may be because I have never had tripe and was unaware that there was tripe in it. The waiter took it back- but still charged us. It was only 6.00$ So I did not say anything, but they could have removed it from the bill. The chorizo dish was just that- just chorizo in a dish. It could have been skipped to be honest. Overall, I would return and try a few more items. It was a good enough experience and nice to have some gluten free ropa vieja. The food was fairly priced, we ordered a lot and it was only around 100$ with the sangria and one margarita added on. More...

I attended my friend's bridal shower today at Spain Restaurant and & Toma Bar. Our group rented the restaurant which I thought was an great idea so that the shower was intimate and private. The food was delicious. The ropa vieja was delicious and the churros were the best I've ever had. They came out warm and had a chocolate sauce to dip them in which was amazing. The space was perfect for the event even with a small stage. We had about 20 guests total and it was perfect with plenty of room, even tables for the gifts. I highly recommend this venue for private events as the staff was very attentive and made sure we all had drinks and food throughout the entire 3 hours. Thank you Spain for making my friends bridal shower special and for a great event. More...

This is the second time we visit Toma, we love the Spanish food, this time we went for dinner and show. We had the octopus as aspetizer and was really good and soft not gummy. Entres, mariscada verde and of course the caldo gallego.. Cant go wrong! Very good and to top it off flan, the flamenco show was spectacular, it throws you back to Spain. Thank you to our Colombia/Puerto Rico server (pardon for not getting her name) she is amazing! We will definately come back. More...

Excellent tapas and wine! I'm a fan of Portuguese vino verde and they found a Bottle for me once again! The happy hour specials are wallet friendly. Service at the bar is prompt and friendly. The seating is set more for doubles and small groups not a crowd. European league football is the most often shown tv entertainment. The owner/manager has been present on the floor each time I've been and it shows that he cares for his business in person. (PS the croquettes and papas bravas are even better than the other tapas chain that still has that location in st Pete ;) ) More...

We love Spanish food & this is the best place in the Tampa Bay area for that. The tapas dishes were good and did not come all at once, which we prefer. We've all had better paella, however, as the rice was a bit soggy and tasteless. Regardless, we had a lovely evening! More...

Great happy hour deals (cheap draft beers and only $4 for mojitos/sangria! I enjoyed the latter). Our service was great even for a big party where our server bent over backwards to help us out. Lots of great tapas to choose from. I particularly liked the chorizo and delicious Del Mar. The Pulpo was tasty but not quite what I hoped. More...
