I've only recently started exploring Boulder City after the burial of my beloved father in the veterans memorial cemetery. Me and family members now make it a point to share meals after visiting Pops.Southwest Diner has great breakfast food and warm loving service. Thank you to the establishment for providing comfort to this newly minted family ritual. We all have stories and you never know what's truly going on in the lives of your patrons. The breakfast sandwich and potatoes cakes are delicious! More...

We were in the area and looking for a local place for lunch.  This place was perfect for us.  They serve breakfast all day and have a wide variety of food.  All 4 of our meals were very good and fill you up.  We're looking forward to going back this week! More...

We stopped in for breakfast driving through Boulder City.  The food was good (pretty typical selection) and the portions filled us up.  They had some pie options that caught my eye, but obviously not viable for breakfast.  The walls/shelves have some interesting decor that all seemed like random, unrelated items to me.  There's parking behind the restaurant, but it's pretty tight so just park in the street if you can't park in the back. Great diner food and homemade pies. The service is incredible, we we're a party of 18 with young kids and nothing was too much trouble for them.

After our last night on the road at the Best Western across the street (a different review for another time), we were pleased to learn that the "free breakfast" option with our BW stay was hosted at the Southwest Diner across the street.  Before we checked in to our room, we did a drive by of the old town section of Boulder City, and noted Southwest as a place we wanted to check out.Southwest Diner is a quaint, warm place that has successfully maintained the charm and hospitality of a fleeting time.  The small dining room held maybe 15 tables, and each was well attended by the servers.  Dolled up for Christmas, my family and I felt welcome from the moment we walked in until we said our farewells. In the interim, we enjoyed hot coffee that never ran dry, kindness from our server who took care of us like we were regulars, and outstanding  made to order breakfasts. The hotel provided  "vouchers" for either a free breakfast off a preset menu, or $5 off regular menu items.  The kids enjoyed pancakes, eggs, and bacon, Mrs. Picante opted for her usual oatmeal, and I went with the veggie omelet.  Portions were big, the food was hot and tasty, and everyone had their fill.  Little things like kids in the kids' cups and even the offer of coffees to go as we were heading out were the kind of perks you don't get or even expect at most places.Southwest must turn a lot of pies for the season, as preorders were lined up at the front end, waiting for holiday pick up.  Pro-tip for good karma and additional style points:  if you take advantage of free breakfasts, make your server's morning by leaving a solid minimum gratuity as if you paid full menu price.  It's the right thing to do, and when people work hard to put a smile on your face (or take care of your fork-dropping kiddos), a few extra bucks  is a nice way to say thank you, you are APPRECIATED!Southwest, we'll be back to see you again when our travels bring us your way.  Our compliments to the owners, our servers, the staff, and the kitchen-- what a great way to start our morning together as a family, and prepare for our rain-soaked drive back to Pasadena. Very cute little diner. It's quaint with little Knick knacks from the past. The menu is a bit limited but that's ok the food was good. The service was super friendly. We had a nice time. They sell homemade pies so we figured we would try one. I bought a whole strawberry and rhubarb pie. The crust looked amazing and couldn't wait to try it. We got home and cut into strawberry rhubarb liquid. What the heck? We wanted pie not chunky fruit soup!!!!! We poured out 2 cups of juice. So weird the flavor was good the crust top notch but you can't serve a piece of it just crazy. Maybe a one time mistake but I'm not willing to try again. Really to bad! More...

Had the best treat when my girlfriend took me to Boulder City last week. This place has a mom and pop small town feel where everyone knows each other. The service was super friendly and quick. I loved the banana bread and could have eaten the entire loaf if they brought it over to our table. This is a definite return back for more when I'm back in Boulder City. More...

Filling food. They go by "Southwestern Diner," but the menu covers all Southern regions of the U.S. of A. -- dishes with avacado, or Texas toast, or corn bread, make up a manageable variety. Good luck with saving room for pie with their portions. Maybe next time!Atmosphere is locals and tourist mingling. No one seems rushed, yet the plates come out speedy. The outdoor patio is a mainstay of the drag through Boulder City. More...

We saw this place packed with people on our way to Hoover Damn this morning. Well, thats all it took for us to want to try it out on our way back. ..however, like tourists, we didnt know which turn to take after getting in that circle on our way back to vegas.  Fortunately, we found the right exit and headed back to Boulder to try this diner.  We had prompt and courteous service, but the best part was the food.  Chilli verde pork burrito, Westerner sandwich, and beef quesadilla were the best we've ever had...everything down to the curly fries amd guacamole were amazing! I had the dumbest smile on my face after trying the guacamole because it tastes exactly how my family makes it.To finish things off, we tried the coconut pie and rhubarb pie.  The coconut was different, but the rhubarb was like a sweet and tart apple pie. This place is on my list to come back to. Hands down, amazing tasting food! More...

Seven in our party celebrating a 10th and an 80th Birthday today on a Sunday around noon. No waiting for a table. We sat outside on a shaded patio. Was a bit cool and breezy today, but we were provided blankets and were fine. Everything was five star delicious from the breakfast items: southwest burrito, those potatoes, hash browns, pancakes, everything sandwich, French toast, and potato pancakes. The birthday reported his short-stack was like eating sugary sweet clouds. Definitely fluffier than your typical pancake house pancakes. The chicken quesadilla was also a five star with excellent topping options. Our service was wonderful!!! Free pie on your birthday--five star strawberry rhubarb pie--get it heated! And the peanut-butter brownie was enough to share among all of us.Don't hesitate to stop here for a filling meal at a good price. More...

This restaurant is awesome!! They have such a great menu and really friendly and fast service! Such a great combination of traditional diner classes with a southwest twist! I enjoyed the fajita beef salad (wow!) and for breakfast the juevos rancheros. Both were delightful and gluten free! They made great accommodations for my son who has food allergies and everything came out exactly as ordered. Hopefully you are here when they offer the corned beef hash special bc my husband says it's the best he's ever had. The sweet tea was fun (I didn't have it but my kids loved it) and the coffee comes in cute garden mugs. Best of all, it's very reasonable and we had leftovers to take for later. We had our second visit here on the way out of town. The food is good and plentiful. This is a place for comfort food. It does make it a challenge when you are being mindful about your diet. That being said, I appreciated the veggie omelet with no mushrooms or chilies. Thank you! I was also happy the potatoes were held. I wish fruit was an a la carte item. I would have had that. The wheat toast is dense and delicious. It is thick so two slices felt like four. I just ate one slice. I don't care for margarine spread and the toast came with it. Next time I will order it dry. The service was friendly and attentive. It was early so it wasn't crowded. The coffee was very good! The ladies room was clean. There is a bowl of moisturizing hand scrub with a plastic spoon in it. (I remember it was there last time too). "Do not eat" is written on the paper towels under the bowl. The paper towel dispenser is directly above the bowl so drips of water are visible in the bowl and on the spoon. The product is probably good. I understand a desire to promote the product you have on sale by the register. However, some sort of clean, closed dispenser should be used. It's very off putting and doesn't compel me to try or buy the product. Overall we enjoy your establishment whenever we are in the area. Thank you! More...

A great little boy I was with stated, "When I was brought here, I believed it would be an average breakfast with lower than average food, but I was proven wrong of this place was certainly proved wrong. First of all, my family and I were greeted warmly, and after we were seated I was first given a jar-shaped glass of raspberry tea, which was very sweet and certainly admirable, as most others in this diner also prefer this drink. As for the main course, it was truly wonderful. It was presented well and looked and tasted well, with a good feeling of home. Not only that, but you can tell the eggs and sausage were made well when they go even better when eaten together. As for the French toast, I was presented with a bit much, but nothing I couldn't like; syrup served by a giant bottle, as if someone would drink so much, and quite excessive on the butter, but other than that, everything was delicious and filling, and I couldn't ask for more." As for the other dishes, they were fantastic.  Three eggs and potatoes, huevos rancheros and oatmeal are all great selections.  Bon appétit! More...
