David is amazing and I would recommend him to anyone looking to improve their fitness level or Anyone with medical issues. He is always a positive, motivating, influence with excellent guidance and queues for perfect form. I have noticed a huge difference in my strength, mobility, and my muscle tone in just a few months. I started working with David after having a double mastectomy and almost a complete axillary lymph node dissection due to breast cancer. My initial goals were to gain full mobility in my left arm due to the surgery plus to get back into shape. He has helped me to gain full mobility, now we are working on strength and toning. I have been training with David for two months now and can definitely tell I’ve gotten a lot stronger. In addition to the personal training sessions, he has given me home workout programs with yoga and HIIT. He is really good about constantly keeping in contact about which muscles are sore after workouts so he can beat design the next workout. I highly recommend SolFit to anyone looking to train their muscles and live a healthier lifestyle! David is always happy to give any nutrition tips and recommendations as well. I really enjoy Solfit because the fitness program is geared towards you. I like how it’s one-on-one and in a comfortable setting. I also enjoy the stretching and the buffer tool that is used when your muscles are sore, it’s awesome. I selected SolFit after doing research on a variety of personal trainers on Oahu. David’s focus on yoga and mobility, as well as fitness was exactly what I was looking for. Over the last two months of working with David 3x per week at his Pokai Bay Studio, my blood pressure is down significantly, my flexibility has dramatically improved and I am re-establishing healthy habits. He asks questions about how you are responding workout to workout and adapts the programming to best drive for the results that are important to you as the client. I did my research and found David. He and I spoke on the phone at length, and he offered a free evaluation to confirm that he could help me, and allow me to see if we would be compatible. After a thorough evaluation discussing medical, where I am, and where I want to be we agreed to proceed.With my issues David has concentrated on strength training, balance, and cardio. In a short time I have gone from struggling to get out a chair to being able to get through a 20 minute work out.And....we are talking a very short time. We started working with David in our home three times a week almost 3 months ago. We have found him to be exceptionally well trained, knowledgeable, as well as extremely kind and understanding. Following his initial assessment where he learned our medical histories, limitations, and weaknesses, he has devised workouts appropriate to our starting fitness level encompassing and stressing balance, strength, and cardiovascular development. Each workout has been different, and each slowly builds on the progress made on prior workouts. He carefully explains what each exercise is designed to achieve, and demonstrates proper techniques in performing the exercise to minimize and prevent injury. Follow up e-mails after workouts will ask whether there are any residuals such as excessive soreness, such that he should modify his next workout plan. With each session he is always very encouraging and complimentary of our efforts. In summary, he is extremely professional and thoughtful as well as highly respectful of our home environment. As retired medical professionals, we feel extremely fortunate to have him as our trainer. We already feel that in this period of time we have made significant progress in our overall physical fitness and sense of well being.

So today started with a great work out at Yvette's Health & Fitness Center with our trainer David J Langfelder, we love our hour at the gym, we are benefiting greatly from various workouts we do there, ranging from cardio to strength and general fitness, every workout is different, interesting and challenging with full support and care from our trainers, you should try it sometime! ! I worked out with David and friends this morning. My new favorite way to start the day. Today we focused on balance, which David hits fairly regularly. In just two month's time, I am astonished at how much my balance has improved. Which I didn't think was possible with severed ACLs, but David's knowledge of anatomy and physiology allows him to continue to astonish me with what I can do. I also have knee issues, and today David showed me how to use the stair master without pain. I can't wait to see where he shows me I can excel next! More...

I have had pain in my shoulder for many years, but after training with Dave the past few months I have noticed less shoulder pain, greater mobility and strength. . He does a great job treating problem areas, while at the same time formulating a exercise routine that keeps me strong and healthy.. I met David as he is one of the awesome trainers at Yvette's Health and Fitness in Sarasota, FL. David stressed that with proper technique in doing the exercises, you can use much lower weights and still get the same benefits. He explained you also lower the chance of injury. Having hit mid-life I went for the 'usual tests' and was told I have osteopenia in my lower back as well as higher than normal cholesterol. Everything I've read says diet and exercise is the answer. So I decided it was time to invest some time and energy in myself. It's a daunting task for an over 50 year old woman with no real gym experience to find a place. I found Yvette's Fitness Center online. And through her David. David's background and skills are exactly what I was looking for. With his medical background David is the bridge between physical therapy and a regular gym exercise program. I have been training with him about 7 weeks and have already noticed a big difference. September 09, 2015 Richard Lauer Venice, Florida Suffering from shoulder pain and weakness I observed David Langfelder helping a follow shoulder sufferer. I liked his approach and problem understanding and felt this is the trainer for me. Dave's personal focus on the weakened areas and methodical training in stretching and strengthening, has relieved my pain and strengthened my shoulders and conditioned my whole body as well. I went to David with my issue with weight gain due to a medicine I was on. I couldn't lose the weight no matter what I did. The scale wouldn't budge. I was on in Florida for a short time but David took the time to write me up a personalized routine and go over it with me till I was comfortable. David, I was lucky enough to start working out with you about 2 months ago. I had not been working out and was hesitant to start again because I have a medical issue with my knees. Your background in medical fitness training has made all the difference for me. To my utter disbelief, the sense of fun you bring to each workout has converted this couch potato to a fitness fan! I actually look forward to working out now. Whenever your workout plan includes some move that my knees don’t want to make, you immediately have an alternative suggestion to work the muscle without the knee strain. Yippee!! I feel so much better! I started seeing Dave due to knee pain and muscle stiffness, especially after playing tennis. Dave has strengthened the muscles around my knees and has been doing stretching exercises to help ease muscle pain, stiffness and to improve my flexibility. I met David in Japan a few years back.The guy has an amazing personality and has become a true friend.He also used to help me out with my training whilst he was here in Japan. Sometime last year i told him about my knee problem.I had been having some knee pain for the last 10years.Therefore i went for x-rays and doctors told me there was nothing wrong with my knee, from the the x-ray information.At this time it was determined that it was pain caused by a muscle and they weren't really clear with what they were saying,so i had to live with this excruciating pain on my knee.Things changed for the better sometime last year.I was chatting to David and i told him that i couldn't really workout well at the gym because of my knee.He therefore suggested to me some stretching and exercise tips for my knee and whole body.Eversince i tried out his methods I have been working out with no problem and no pain.When i started following his tips ,the pain slowly disappeared.Now im able to dance,run and train with no worries.Thanks once again bro. Q&A

1. The key to safe and effective fitness programs starts with assessment. I combine the latest in digital assessments (body fat, muscle quality and postural), advanced manual fitness assessments, and orthopedic assessments to create the perfect fitness program just for you. I also reassess your progress regularly to make sure your program is working.

2. Exercise prescription takes into account the client’s unique physiology as well as his/her goals. As a medical exercise specialist, I am able to accomodate a wide range of fitness levels and acheive positive outcomes.

3. One of the most important jobs of the personal trainer is teaching body awareness and proper exercise technique. The personal trainer is there to assist with the workout not only by motivating the client, but making sure the exercises are being performed properly, included form, speed, and breathwork. I use manual positioning as well as verbal cues designed to maximize the mind body connection and help clients to feel the correct technique instead of just mimiking an instructor. I also tell clients why they are doing the exercise in certain way and how it will benefit them and help them reach their goal.

4. Program management entails progressive modifications of a fitness program that allows for maximal growth, minimizes risk of injury and allows for continued response to exercise. Often, fitness prorams fail because the body adapts to the program and no longer responds to the exercises.

5. I have fun with my clients. I am honest with my clients and give them realistic expectations. I try to treat my clients as I would a good friend or family member.

6. I highly value my clients health and safety. Exercise is an amazing tool, but it’s not the only key to good health. That’s why I refer my clients to other medical professionals such as registered dieticians or physical therapists when appropriate. I am trained to watch for ‘red flags’ that warrant medical intervention to ensure that exercise is appropriate for my clients. I am also able to communicate effectively with my clients healthcare team in order to create safe and effective programs with the client’s best interests in mind.

Here’s a secret the fitness industry doesn’t want you to know: there’s no such thing as ‘the perfect body’. My job is to help each individual realize their ‘best self’ and find sustainable ways to incorporate fitness into their lives. Different people respond differently to exercise; there is no single fitness program that will work for everyone. Additionally, reaching one’s fitness goals isn’t a three-month bootcamp. It’s a total lifestyle change that should be permanent, safe and manageable. I view myself as a guide for my clients on their fitness journey and I give them the tools and tricks they will need for the ride. Each client gets my total focus and attention to help them get the best results possible. The true secret: a great body is one that is healthy, happy and allows for the individual to enjoy life to the fullest.

At the age of 18, I began experiencing pain and morning stiffness which worsened over time and was eventually diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis. After my first series of x-rays I was told that I had the spine of a 60 year old man by the radiologist. As you can imagine, that was quite a shock to hear and made me feel a bit hopeless and helpless.

Fast forward 6 years. I had been to various specialists and tried many prescription medications with no benefit whatsoever. I was about to graduate from an undergraduate program in music, but my condition had worsened to the point where I could no longer pratice and perform due to the pain and stiffness in my back.

After a year on disability I began to suspect that my lifestyle choices like activity level and diet were playing a big part in my illness. I realized that instead of waiting around for a my condition to improve, I would have to make changes to my life. This is how my fitness journey began.

I have dedicated my life towards helping people find ways to improve their life through fitness. For that reason, I have earned advanced certifications like that of the medical exercise specialist which has helped me get better results for clients of various abilities and fitness levels.
