The sign of a true service is when you see and feel the heart in it.... Tonight i randomly stopped at @smokey Tomato with the intention to eat something and they were out of Veggie Tacos. .. I stepped out disheartened and soon someone came after me saying... chef says we can make something special for you.... I was soooo touched that i have no words for it... Could not say enough about this place! Between the food, decor, and hospitality from the owners themselves, I could not ask for anything more. When asked about a special item, the owner was extremely accommodating and made a roasted poblano and chorizo sandwich for the gods. The ginger mint lemonade was sweet and refreshing. I even overheard that all the herbs used come from their personal garden! The ham and brie sandwich nearly made me cry it was so good. And we started with a vegan black bean soup that was hearty and spicy with some cool avocado to offset it. The owners' warmth makes you feel relaxed and at home. Best food downtown downers grove by a long shot. They do a lot of catering so their space isn't big but IT DOES NOT MATTER it's THAT good.
