Kathryn did a great job teaching us how to train our Dalmatian puppy. Penny is stubborn but, Kathryn stuck with us and helped us have a dog that is so much more pleasant to be around!

When Kathryn married our son and moved to Texas last year, we got more than an amazing daughter-in-law. We gained an outstanding dog trainer. Even our old dog benefitted from her expertise and we were able to better care for him in the last months of his life. Flash forward a few months and we found ourselves with a new dog. Not only did our daughter come home from college with a diploma, she also came home with a 14 month old rescue dog who was in desperate need of some proper training. With Kathryn’s in home training and helpful tips we now have a wonderfully sweet girl who has good manners, a sweet disposition, and is learning some cute tricks. Before Kathryn started her business here in Texas, she worked for Guardian K9 in Columbus Indiana and has a degree in animal science from Purdue University. Kathryn did such a great job training Luna! She was very patient and creative in her training methods - if one approach didn't work, she always had effective back ups. She made the training session fit my dog. She taught Luna how to sit, stay, let go of a toy, "leave it," heel, (all on command) and other fun little games to challenge her physically and mentally. She showed me how to carry on all of these lessons at home. She also gave great advice whenever I had general behavioral questions (house training, etiquette when strangers come to the door, how to have the best experience at the dog park/around other animals, etc.). I would highly recommend Smart K9 and Kathryn to anyone looking to start off on the right foot with a new dog, or even teach an old dog new tricks :) Thanks Kathryn!! More...

Kathryn did an awesome job training our rocky. She was very patient with him and us as well. She taught us how to lead him on a leash, sit, stay, come, touch when told to, lay down, and run to a “place” to wait for a reward. I would suggest her to anyone in the Helotes or NW San Antonio are who would like a top notch trainer. Thanks Kathryn! More...
