I've been going to the owner, Antonio, for 7-8 years now and I'm always happy with his work. My hair is pretty low maintenance and I just CAN'T get behind paying $100+ for a haircut. Antonio's prices can't be beat and his quality is equivalent to the people charging those higher prices. I'm always happy with my haircut and he's a great person on top of that. I only go in every 4 months or so but he still remembers what is going on in my life and asks me about what we talked about last time. The new location is nothing fancy but don't let that fool you. You'll still get a great haircut but you won't have to pay crazy prices to support the crazy rent those other places pay. More...

Great cut!! I found this place on a google search, looking for a good LA haircut that would be affordable. This place was everything I was looking for! The haircut was perfect and the prices are amazing. The new location is in echo park and it looked pretty unassuming, I was a little bit nervous just because it isn't the fanciest looking salon, but Antonio gave me the greatest haircut, everything I asked for and more. ugh i love this place. Their new location is in echo park under the bridge on glendale. So I haven't gotten my hair cut in almost a year because I'm very selective on who cuts my hair. However, Tony did a FANTASTIC job. He had answered all my questions I had about my hair and was very informative. I had found them on the unite hair products site. These products are absolutely amazing and leave your hair very smooth and silky (I have dry coarse thick curly red hair). Celebrities like Nina Dobrev also use this line and I love her gorgeous hair. I've been coming to SLS for about 3 years now since I moved to LA. Raven is the stylist i go and she's the best. Every time i come in I feel personally greeted by the entire salon. It's in a great space that is perfect for people watching in silverlake ! Raven has made my hair blonde, brown black.... long short etc. she always does a fantastic job with color and her precision cut always looks sharp. My last haircut/ color was a huge change, but Raven made sure to be patient and cautious with my reaction! I've been to some other salons out here and I ALWAYS ALWAYS come right back to SLS. Just got a cut and color yesterday. I had such a great experience. I actually never ever post of yelp. I have a lot of hair, it's super thick, and needed to be completely bleached and colored (bright pink and purple). The stylist was so great and spent so much time to make sure it was perfect. This is pretty overdue. I came in to my appointment with Grace to get my hair colored and she did a fantastic job! I wanted blue originally but they were out of the color that day so we settled on purple. The entire process took several hours because of the bleaching but she was a rockstar with her patience and attentiveness. Ademaris was my stylist a few weeks ago when I went to Silver Lake Studio. I've been a few times and always had different people who always do a good job but she was exceptional. I didn't really know what I wanted but she showed me a few pictures of what she was thinking and was always checking in to make sure it was looking how I wanted. I've gotten my hair cut short only a few times and she did the best job! I love my hair and it's all due to Ademaris' great work. Will be back to see her next time I need a cut :) More...

I want to start by saying I have been to many stylists that are very friendly. I have also been to stylists that doesn't listen to what I want and understand that every hair is different. Antonio listens to what you want and listens when you explain the type of hair you have and the problems you have faced with other stylists. If I don't explain thoroughly enough and I get something I dislike he is more than willing to fix it for you and I can't help but trust him with my hair since I know he will make it right if it is wrong. I went in today because I needed a trim and I came out in love! The second time I was there and decided to dye my hair I wasn't too pleased with the result I decided to give the salon a second chance and go back today. Tony the owner did my hair and I absolutely love the result. He cut about two inches off which is exactly what I wanted and left my hair in beautiful layers and a beautiful blow dry which is exactly what I was looking for. The salon is super clean and welcoming and the staff is super helpful and friendly! I loved talking to Nancy she's super funny and was giving me tips with my hair what I can do to it. I haven't gotten my hair done by Nancy but I've seen her work and I would trust her with my hair. Her or tony the owner. Nancy is the absolute BEST!! I have naturally light brown hair that I bleached blonde for nearly a year, then (stupidly) dyed almost black. After a free consultation in which she explained everything she was going to do and the risks involved, Nancy took me back to the absolute BEST shade of blonde I've ever been. I make it a point to visit Silver Lake Studio every time I am in LA. Raven has been doing my hair for years and is the only one I truly trust with my cut and color. In between visits, I try to maintain my color, (with her expert advice, of course) and then she just fixes it when I see her again! Tony is amazing! My husband and I have been going to him for years now- we do not mind driving from the west side.  Amazing stylist that is great with both men and women hairstyles. Will always listen to you and will not try to impose anything that makes you uncomfortable. He always gets exactly what I want and I'm a pretty indecisive girl! Best Hair-Cutting Experience!!!Asian Male (Fine hair with a small face/head) Being someone who has had much difficulty getting my hair cut the way I want (due to having fine-hair and a weird shaped head) this was truly one of the best Hair Salons I've ever been to. Stosh was my Hair Stylist.  I did a walk-in (no-appointment) late in the day.  I approached Stosh and asked if he could help fix my hair (it was looking a bit weird from a previous cutting-session at another barbershop), he really went out of his way to make sure I received the best hair-cut possible!  He took his time, and was very meticulous and careful and was also very friendly and easy to open up to about what it was I wanted.I had all sorts of questions regarding my hair-type, hair maintenance and hair-cutting techniques and Stosh was more than open to answering my questions.  Stosh also took time showing me different hair products that best suited my particular hair-type!  I walked out of there feeling like a Million Bucks! The actual hair-cut was about $40 (Well Worth it!)  I added extra tip just to show my appreciation!  It's a great feeling having a Hair Stylist who is invested in making sure you look your absolute best!  After years of trying various Barbershops, this is definitely my go-to spot for getting a Rock-Star haircut!  And for anyone looking for a true professional, I highly recommend Stosh! This update is way overdue. I can now say that the keratin treatment is completely worth it. I bought a keratin shampoo & conditioner, plus a styling serum, and this extended my treatment out way beyond the 3 months. I didn't end up going for another treatment until nearly a year later! I have been coming to this salon for over 10 years. All the staff are amazing and multi talented;Just recently Tony managed to lightened my hair to blonde without damaging it. This is my favorite hair salon in Los Angeles.  I've been to a number of different places over the last 15 years and I keep coming back to Tony and the Silver Lake Studio.  I started seeing Tony when the salon was on Micheltorena and I've never been disappointed.  I wear my hair very short and Tony always does a fantastic job.  If you want to try short hair and you aren't totally sure, Tony is the guy to come see.  I've also done some color work with him, and loved the blond highlights. So I really feel the necessity to update my last review on Nancy which was about 10 months ago. Her work ethic and professionalism remain the same. I have been a client of hers for over 5 years. And I can honestly say, she takes great pride in her work, and doesn't let you leave her chair till every hair is in its place, she is indeed a perfectionist! Ok, so after I had some financial issues I could no longer afford to keep up with my blonde maintenance root touch ups every 1 1/2-2 months and decided to look for a cheaper alternative. Boy oh boy was that a big fat MISTAKE! You definitely get what you pay for. I ended up texting Nancy to desperately get her to fix what the other hairstylist did. She was able to accommodate me and fit me into her busy schedule 3 days later. 8 hours later, and my hair is as good as new. Thank you so much Nancy! I'll never abandon you again! My hair is an investment, blonde hair is definitely one of those things that are worth shelling out the extra money for to let a professional work their magic! Nancy is a hair guru! Massimo has been cutting my hair almost monthly for over 3 years. I seriously feel bad if I'm traveling and need to get it cut with anyone else. He has some serious talent. I always feel confident he will do a great job which is important to me because of my work. I'm required to be polish and do presentations in front of many people. I remember asking around town who cut guys hair the best and I got his name from a female stylist. Even she had to admit he really knew what he was doing. Excellent place. Brought my daughter for a hair appointment for prom. She had pictures and the beautiful young woman--sorry I didn't get her name--was amazing and did a wonderful job. On a whim I asked if I could get my hair done as well. Nancy took me and understood exactly what I was hoping for.  Turned out great! Was visiting LA for a  vacation and my sister decided that she just couldn't stand how long her hair had gotten and wanted to get a trim. We were staying in the area and passed by a couple of times and decided to check it out on yelp to see if the ratings were good. They were, so we called to see if an appointment was needed. They told us that we could walk in and that is what we did. Paige ended up being her stylist, which was great because she specializes in curly hair. She listened to what my sister wanted and was fun, enthusiastic, and very friendly. She cut my sister's hair EXACTLY the way she wanted and I even got a bang trim.  Paige also recommended a great styling crème for my extremely curl resistant hair.  The prices were affordable - $45 for my sister's cut and $10 for my bang trim. Raven was in studio as well and she was friendly and welcoming too. We were so happy with the results and am glad we stopped in. Thanks to Paige and Raven for making our experience a great one. When I lived in SF my hair was an art project I designed myself, and it was fun for me. It was messy and platinum, and it worked for awhile. Now that I live in LA, I started getting my hair professionally maintained, and it's been full of ups and downs (mostly ups!). I was frequenting a different salon, but my stylist moved and was only available once a week, so after much back and forth in my head, I decided to give Silver Lake Studios a shot. Paige cut my hair and I am absolutely loving it. I've been trying to grow out a pixie cut for years, but I the truth is that I like having short hair. Paige has short hair too, so I knew she'd know what to do! We talked about how I wanted to grow my hair into a graduated bob, and she went to work. She meticulously cut my layers in the back and they lay on my head so well! I had mentioned I wanted side swept bangs, but since I had already took the scissors to my bangs a few weeks ago, we had to go shorter than I initially wanted. I LOVE THEM. I'm thinking I might actually keep them for the long haul. I'm not super into selfies, but I have been taking so many of me with my new hair cut. We talked about how I should come in every 4 -6 weeks to maintain my hair, in order for it to grow out. I had been previously waiting 8 -10 weeks, as I didn't want to lose any length, but would then have to cut more hair than I liked, as it would completely lose any style. I am very excited to go back and have Paige work her magic on my hair again in a few weeks! Bring your own beverages. I had worked the night shift and then had an appointment at 11am, which is not first thing in the morning I know, but it is for me! I wished I had stopped for coffee before. I also didn't ask, because I get shy, especially when I am tired. It was $35 to wash, cut and blow-dry my short hair. What a deal! More...
