Renovated/restored log cabin with modern touches (a bit Swedish-inspired). Ensuite bathrooms, low ceilings in upstairs rooms (I'm 5'6" and could touch beams) but quiet, rural and peaceful. In farm country, need a car.||||Breakfast was fresh coffee, yogurt with fresh fruit and a good helping of quiche with sausage in it (delicious!). ||||Definitely glad I had navigation to find it in the dark! About 10-15 minutes from I-81; convenient for people visiting colleges in the area, including James Madison. More...

Absolutely loved our stay here! Didn’t want to leave. Property is so peaceful, my wife and I could have sat on the front porch all day! Ryan, the manager is very friendly. The rooms are very nice and have a cozy, feel to them. The history of the house is very interesting. We just loved the log cabin atmosphere. The fireplaces in the main room are nice a cozy as well. Also want to mention that breakfast was very good. Definitely would stay here again! More...

This was a very comfortable B & B about 15 minutes drive from Harrisonburg in a lovely country setting. The hosts were very accommodating and the cabin had lots of character. The silk room was very quaint but did not have any cloths storage facility. Breakfast was at 9-00am and was a set menu (not a buffet), however there was Tea & coffee readily available in the lounge. This B&B turned out to be one of my favorites. It's is lovely. I love the rustic feel but at the same time the up to date touches. Our room was very nice. Roomy with a bluestone fireplace. The bathroom was wonderful. Everything you'd expect in a nice hotel. Large glass shower and wonderful linens. There was also a door out to the wraparound porch. The breakfast was delicious. I would go back again but for a longer stay. More...

Amazingly beautiful Inn, check in was seem less, and fast. The host met us when we arrived and showed us around the common areas. The furnishings are beautiful throughout the Inn. Sodas, water, coffee and tea were great amenities. The host suggested a few places to eat less than 10min away. We chose Clementines, the food was excellent, highly recommend. They offer a space in their refrigerator for any leftovers. The rooms were sparkling clean, so clean you could eat off the floors. The bed was comfortable, and the shower was awesome, additionally natural soaps and shampoo was provided. They have a wonderful porch with many rockers, you can enjoy the relaxing scenery while sipping some of the local wine. Breakfast was served at 9, but they are flexible with times if you would like your earlier. The breakfast was delicious, fresh yogurt with fruit, blueberry pancakes, sausage, and scrambled eggs. We enjoyed eating at the farmhouse table with the other guests. Lastly we went to the Daytons farmers market, this is a must. It has tons of shops all connected inside with unique gifts, many local products and food galore. I had a pumpkin pecan scone & pumpkin latte. We certainly will be back to explore the area, as we were just passing through this time on our way home. Cant wait to visit again! Thank you for your warm hospitality! More...

We go to the Harrisonburg area several times a year and usually stay at the Sleep Inn (which is fine), but on this trip we decided to switch to a B and B. Recommended by Trip Advisor, we found that the room rates at the Silver Lake Bed and Breakfast were competitive with the rates at the Sleep Inn or other local hotels. Although slightly off the beaten path, the Silver Lake B and B is in a most pleasant rural area. The place itself is surrounded by open farm land which provided a peaceful and relaxing view from the porch just outside our room. Although they say the place dates back to the mid 1700's, it has been thoroughly renovated and is very modern and clean. The over-riding feeling is one of rough sawn wood panelling with a somewhat log cabin like appearance. Very pleasant. Our room was simple and comfortable, but could have benefitted from a king size rather than queen size bed. The room was quite spacious and could easily have held a bit more furniture (like a second comfortable chair or a small desk). The bathroom was very modern with a spacious glass enclosed shower. Again, like everything else, spotlessly clean. The breakfast served in the morning was very good and plentiful. The only complaint we had was their Internet service was very slow and spotty. At first, it was almost bad enough that we thought we might have to leave. But we rebotted their router and the service got better--not great but good enough to allow us to stay and enjoy our visit. The home was restored very nicely. We enjoyed our stay and will probably return but I think the host needs to steep up there service. Breakfast is not served until 9:00, we are early risers and had to look for coffee. The water in the single serving machine was empty and there was no cream or napkins, no spoons. I have never stayed at BB that has not had muffins or pastries to hold you over to breakfast. The think they could do a little more dusting and sweep the porch. We loved the place but really do think they could do better. More...

We loved the area. There were farms and serenity that was unusual for those of us from the big cities. The room was great, as well as, breakfast. I was amazed by the fireflies at night; again, we don't see many of those in the city. The only small thing I would warn others about is there is a cat on the premises. I'm allergic to cats and I could tell that the cat had been in the house, and specifically our room. My throat was closing up while I was trying to sleep and I had to take a Benydryl. If you are allergic, you might bring Benydryl or an Epipen! More...
