Arriving at 6:15 for our 6:30 reservation, Sabrina the hostess sat us at the worst table in the entire restaurant. When we asked for a better table she said all were reserved for other guests. There were several tables available. Sabrina simply lied to us. After about 15 minutes a couple with a small dog was seated at a four top. A much better table than we had. The general manager came by our table at least 3 times to ask if our drinks were ok, how was our food and then to clear our dinner dishes. At that time we explained how Sabrina told us no other tables were available and not in a very hospitable way. We pointed to the table where the couple who arrived AFTER we did got a 4 top table. GM then says to us the dog wouldn’t fit under our 2 top. My husband said well, I hope the dog is a good tipper. With that the GM walked away with no apology. Teresa our waitress saved the evening. She was very attentive, made excellent suggestions and was very delightful. It’s my understanding that it’s against the law to have a dog inside a restaurant unless it is a comfort dog. The only thing about the dog was that it was comfortable in its bed under the table. I can not tell you how bad Sabrina, who is someone in the hospitality business, treated us. And then for the GM to not even apologize was just unacceptable. We almost left the restaurant. We still may never return. December 24 dinner. More...

I would recommend depending on the person's preferences. It is not warm, charming or cozy, like many restaurants in Carmel-by-the-Sea. The food was good, the service was good. Went with my fiance and and my father and needless to say we all LOVED our meals. I think they both made a huge mistake since I was the only one to order the steak. ... it was incredible. They ordered a pasta dish and a fish dish which were great but the steak was really something special. The one thing that was sort of difficult with the room, though, is that my father is hard of hearing. I wouldn't recommend going if you have people in your party who are sensitive to noise since it's just one giant, cement/echo-y room. Will be back again next time I'm in town! More...

The music was annoying but at least it wasn't loud. We were able to talk over the ambient noise which was pretty loud. We were looking for a nice upscale (on the quiet side) steak house. The waiter was outstanding and the food was very good. We opted for a few sides, salad and a $66.00 steak to share. We ordered the steak medium rare to the rare side and it came out about medium. Although tender and flavorful it was a terrible disappointment. We shared our unhappiness with the waiter and he just agreed and apologized so we called the manager over who was clearly not happy about the situation. He never came back to the table but he did remove the cost of the steak from our bill. I would return but make very clear how I like my meat cooked and I will send it back next time if the cook can't get it right. More...

Excellent food and service Camilla is super attentive David and Rudy was on top off the game Isidro the runner was excellent. The food was one off the best on a long time Cooks 100++ We walk into the restaurant and the first good thing was a beautiful smile from Sabrina. Carlos the bartender drinks are one of the best cocktails in all Carmel and Monterey thanks Jaime the manager is so nice and attentive. 7th and Dolores restaurant thank you so much for a such a good time and wonderful welcoming and charming resection we will definitely be back soon. Starters and salad great.All of our three main dishes (2 orders of scallops and 1 of salmon were over-grilled so they were more dry that they should have been). This is a consistent problem. OK the service is perhaps the best in Carmel, and the food and drinks and wine list outstanding. And because we were seeing three different friends while in town, and each wanted to eat there, we had dinner three times out of four nights of our stay, and didn’t tire of it at all. The restaurant has a nice lively vibe and the food is outstanding. My wife had a small filet and I had the scallops and both were great. The three cream whipped potatoes are also excellent and topped off with the best carrot cake I’ve eaten. A bit pricey, but I highly recommend this restaurant. Bon apetit! More...
