SERVIZ

The hinges on my 11 year old Thermador range had weakened to the point that the door no longer stayed closed tight.  My handyman took the door off the hinges to prevent additional damage since the door is so heavy.  Good old American Home Shield (appliance warranty repair company) gave me their usual runaround indicating  I had unusual wear/tear, abuse etc. until I gave up on them.  I called several repair companies on my own.  Their estimates ranged wildly from "It's going to cost too much to fix this, you might as well buy another range", to "they don't make these hinges anymore, you have to buy the whole door ($1500-3000)...... Other companies were willing to fix it but had no idea how long it would take. At $120/hr, I was not willing to find out.  I called Serviz and took a chance since they promised to fix it for a flat rate of $225 plus parts.  I was hoping there were no strings, but it was my best chance of getting it repaired without it costing an arm and two legs.  The repairman was on time and professional.  The job was tricky, but he called his friend in the business who was able to help him figure out the hinge mechanism - the connectors were hidden inside the walls of the oven, so you couldn't see how the hinge hooked onto the locking device.  He could have easily given up, but he hung in there.  He determined the issue and concluded that the hinges had to be replaced.  I found them online cheaper than what his company offered and he allowed me to order them myself to save money.  He returned once the hinges arrived and installed them for the price agreed.  In total, the repair took about 3 hours - so much cheaper than the pay by the hour companies who would have probably given up and charged me anyway indicating the door was irreparable, or forced me to buy the parts from them at a ridiculous markup.   I am so pleased I don't have to replace my $7k range which would now cost $13k. I have had mostly very good experiences with this platform and the "pro"s that they send out are generally very good. However, I had one nightmare experience that has unfortunately tainted my opinion of them at this point. There was a "pro" who was hired to attach a set of storage locker to the garage wall so it doesn't tip over. You set the feet so the locker is balanced and anchor the locker to the wall. That's it, because they're already assembled. There were about 10 pieces. The guy they sent out gave me a quote of 5 hours which he figured would be more than plenty. He went 7 hours, only did half the job and was at my house until 10pm at night and I couldn't get him out until I signed his bill or allow him to continue. It would have ended up costing me 1,000 dollars to have this work done. Now I cannot get a hold of anyone at Serviz to help resolve the issue. There have been multiple excuses but it's impossible to get a supervisor on the phone to explain what is going to happen. This "pro" was incompetent, and put my family in a very uncomfortable position, which isn't totally serviz's fault but they ineptitude in resolving / responding to the matter has been almost as frustrating as the incompetent pro themselves. So to sum - you get some really good people, and once and while a bad one, but if you do, you're totally on your own and prepare to be very very frustrated.Edit: They got back to me and gave me a partial refund and future credit that makes things right. He had everything he needed to do the job (installing a new toilet) - and he was efficient, prompt, clean, courteous. I received an email promo for $60 off services so I decided to book a job for furniture assembly and to have some drapes hung. Serviz just cleaned my dryer vent. Sal was prompt, professional & efficient. Wonderful customer service. A trait sorely lacking in this world. Sal replaced my dryer tubing with new, heavy duty vent. This was by far the best service I have every had dealing with home repair. I had booked a couple of places one wanted 70 dollars just to come out another a Google backed service didn't show up when I called I was told the guy was already there so I cancelled and was about to do it myself, I had seen 69 bucks to clear a drain it would have cost 30 to rent a manual snake or 45 for a powered one so for an extra 40 bucks or so give these guys a shot. Booked on line , love that, got an appointment for 8 to 10 the next morning Juan showed up 5 minutes before 8 and was done by about 845. I had some concerns with my LG Fridge and called Serviz.  I went online and scheduled an appointment the next day. Cedric came out and was awesome. He ran a diagnostic test over the phone for any problems that came back normal. He explained everything to me about operating the fridge and what I thought was a concern turned out to be normal. I've used serviz  for carpet cleaning, ice maker repair and garage door repair. Service excellent. Technicians friendly and on time. Charges very reasonable. Only had an issue over charge on garage repair. I had to dispute three weeks and make at least 5 calls several emails to get credit back. I finally got supervisor Karen involved that handled this. Nel B and her partner arrived at 9:15 for an 8 to 10 window. This was my second appointment. The first was on July 15th to diagnose the problem. (I made a mistake in buying a Samsung refrigerator two years ago. On it's anniversary day the computer in the door failed but Samsung replaced the part and I paid for the labor to put it back together. That Serviz Plummer did a great job in record time.) Nel and company ran into a bigger problem this time. The icemaker was encased in ice because of a failure in the icemaker's motherboard. It is supposed to turn off the water when the cube tray is full. Not so much. They made an estimate to repair it and I purchased the part through Sears. The Sears part was perfect however it arrived 2 days late so I had to reschedule Nel. She's a good trooper and today they had to manually defrost my icemaker with my blow dryer and tube of boiling water. They were very patient. When the ice finally freed up enough to where they could remove the old part, they replaced it in under 10 minutes. Amazing. They left at about 11 AM. I used a $40 coupon to discount a $194 repair to $154. That was reasonable. The two plumbers were really great. You guys know that Serviz is an interface between plumbers or electricians or handyman or carpenters or ceiling repair people and the people looking to have their appliances, toilet, carpets or ceilings (etc.) fixed, right? The person who comes to your house is an independent contractor looking for extra work at a discounted rate. The scheduling problems and price problems those are on Serviz. The excellent work, timeliness and character are individual-based. You can like one and not the other or vice a versa. Today I got both. I would recommend Nel and her partner anytime anywhere. If you have a coupon, and explain carefully to the person on the phone that you will get the part etc. then Serviz itself is a boon. The up-charge on the parts is a bit outrageous. You need to be canny about what you have to get fixed to make this a good deal. It took two different repairs over two years for me to figure this out. I'm a bit slow! I think I'm on my fourth use of the company. I will continue using Serviz as long as we understand each other and I will use any of their professionals that I have used in the past because they have been wonderful.They take credit cards, ATM cards and checks. Oh I assume they take cash also.Update: Nel told me it would take 24 hours for the icemaker to chill down enough (after all the hot water) to make the first ice cubes and I should be patient. It is 11:29 AM and I just got my first eight ice cubes. They are perfect!Addendum: I called four different appliance people and plumbers before calling Serviz this time. Not one of them would work on a Samsung refrigerator. The one that claims that he does doesn't do the icemaker. Had a handyman come out and do a bit of drywall repair.  Did a great job, was on time and professional.  I think the price was a bit high, but I used a coupon so I think it turned out OK on price in the end.  I have also had carpet cleaned by them and they did a good job, and came back when it dried still looking dirty.  I am not sure I would recommend them for complex multi-trade work, I tried to get them to install a ceiling fan, and they sent an electrician, who then had to call a drywall guy, who couldn't come out until later, so my time window was blown.....wish they would have sent the proper trades when I scheduled it saying it needed a new outlet (meaning ceiling work needed to be done)You can always get someone out quickly with this service. Dear Serviz,My name is Frankie and I'm a puppy, only 8 months old.  I'm really smart (see how I can type with my paws) but sometimes I get bored. ..and when I get bored anything can happen.  Like for example, last week when I was really bored, I chewed through the cables to my Mommy and Daddy's air conditioning unit outside.  I think my Mommy turned purple when she saw what I had done, but I'm cute so she got over it pretty quickly.  After the HVAC folks fixed the wiring she called Serviz to tell them what I'd done.  They sent Jose the very next day!  Jose was very nice to me and after speaking with my Mommy & Daddy about different solutions, installed a custom fence around the unit so I can't get to it or the wires anymore.  I personally am a little annoyed at this because today I got bored and felt a hankering for some AC wires but couldn't get anywhere near them....oh well, I guess I'll just yelp instead!My Mommy downloaded a coupon for $50 off your first Serviz visit and she simply called, told them what coupon it was and they took off the money!  Considering that was like 25% of the price, my parents were really happy.We will definitely be calling Serviz again in the future and asking for Jose; he's the best!  Hmmmm what can I destroy now?Sincerely,Frankie the dog More...

I had Serviz out today to clean two sectional sofas. Jeorge was the technician  who came to do the job. Prior to arriving, I was kept up to date by txt messages to my phone and he arrived right on time. Jeorge was professional, helpful and a hard worker. He did a great job on the sofas and compared to Stanley Steamer, the job was just as good if not better and the price was much more reasonable. I will definitely have them for future cleaning jobs!
