I worked with Semper Solaris a couple years ago to replace my SMA inverter.  They were a pleasure to work with then, and was happy to do business with them.  Just over a year after install, the system crashed during a firmware update.  Initially, they informed me that the service call would be $250, and I asked them to reduce it since it failed so quickly after install, and they agreed.  Turns out the connection to the network to ensure a successful firmware download wasn't set up.  When they called for payment, I asked that they consider splitting the negotiated fee since the system wasn't fully set up and it was only a matter of time before the first firmware update crashed the system.  Got an email back from them that they would waive the fee entirely.  They really stood behind their system, and as a result, I would gladly return for service in the future.  This is especially noteworthy because neither the original installer or service manager are presently employees of Semper Solaris.  Would have been so easy for them to pass the buck, but they took care of me in style.  Really glad there wasn't actually something wrong with my system, other than an incomplete setup, but I truly believe they will treat me fairly when the time comes that I do have a legit system malfunction.  Thanks!!! I was referred to Semper Solaris by a coworker about two years ago.  Yes. It took me two years to make my decision as to which company I was going to go with.  I explored the ones you see at Costco, Home Depot and Lowe's; however, there was just something about them that didn't sit right with me.   Being a veteran myself, I try to support veteran owned businesses. I decided to give Semper Solaris a shot at he job. I contacted Genevieve from Semper Solaris and let her know my situation and my concerns. She explained EVERYTHING ( lease vs purchase, true up billing, upgrade options, financing, and any other questions and concerns I had ). Response time from Genevieve was either immediate or within an hour.   Now at ease and fully understanding what the process was, we felt comfortable enough to make the leap to solar with Semper Solaris.  There was absolutely no pressure for add ons like Tesla wall or other things.  I had to send in my past SDG&E bills which conservatively run around $300 to $500 ( pool/electric spa and an air conditioning unit that we rarely run  because it is so expensive. They could personalize a system for us.  We got 32 (300W) solar panels and an upgraded power panel/circuit breaker box as our place was built in late 60's. Genevieve, Veronica, Vinny, Billie, and Matthew all worked together to submit city permits, liaison with SDG&E and scheduling installation and inspections.  I don't know the names of the installers, but they were punctual, clean, profession, courteous and answered all my questions in layman's terms.  It took them about a day and a half to put up the panels and another 6 hours to upgrade my circuit panel.  For us, from the time we agreed to put in solar to the time we were fully up and running was about one month.  Billie and Genevieve were exceptional helpful with sending me follow up emails to make sure everything was working well and they also walked me through the Solar Edge app which lets you see how much power you are generating.  I have been running my air conditioning at 70° this entire billing cycle, cranked the spa to 104° and running the pool pump about 7 hours a day just to see what the bill would be. Ended up being $42.17.  WOW !!!I had heard so many horror stories from friend about other solar companies and now I just tell them they should have gone with Semper Solaris .  Top Notch company. She was very friendly and always made time to answer all of my questions. Very happy with the entire process. Rhami was our sales rep. He explained everything and continued to be available to us during the time we waited for our solar permit. He prepared us for the different parts of the project and assisted us in getting us the best possible solar loan for our situation. We had been thinking about getting solar for some time and finally decided to take the plunge.  It did not hurt that we will be getting a tax credit as well!  The entire process from start to finish was phenomenal!  Gen, who was the sales person, was always prompt, friendly and very knowledgeable about the company and the product.  She always, and I mean always, replied to our emails and answered all of our questions.  Once we signed, the team a Semper Solaris were always communicating and providing status as to what was going to happen next and when.  It was just a pleasant experience from start to end.  The actual solar installation took one day!  The only lengthy wait we had was SDGE which is out of the hands of any solar company and the customer.  Overall, great customer service to everyone we interacted with, especially Gen and Billie!  Thank you.  We are now enjoying our solar system! Very happy with my entire experience; I shopped multiple vendors. I researched and researched and everything I read online led to Semper Solaris and Panasonic solar panels.    Rhami was our sales associate and was very cordial, friendly, and knowledgeable. He knows his stuff.  We really liked that he cut to the chase and gave us facts with no fluff.  Great job here.        Coordination was done thru a few different office coordinators who were accessible when needed. They sent me detailed emails of what to expect along the way and the emails kept me up to date on my project.  I did have a question along the way. It was  a Sunday, I emailed Rhami and to my surprise he responded almost immediately which was great. The installation looks great. I'm very happy with my decision to use Semper Solaris. Rhami our consultant was excellent through out the entire process. Not happy with how long SDGE took to upgrade our electric box but Rhami warned us so it was not a surprise . Very happy to be done with SDGE.    A few reasons we chose Senper Solaris over the 3 other companies we met with were that they have all necessary licensing including their C39 Roofing license which is a big deal since we just got a new roof and did not want any issues with it. Secondly they gave us a Panasonic solar system with the best warranties on the market.  Thirdly Rhami was the most knowledgeable and most responsive of any of the other reps we met with. Rhami our Semper Rep  & Semper Solaris exceeded my expectations and I am finally free from SDGE. After much  research and several bids; I sat down with Rhami and immediately appreciated his honesty and knowledge on both roofing and solar. I didn't feel pressured and didn't feel like I was sold. I chose Semper because they gave me the best overall value on my project; not the cheapest price; but the best value.  My 50 year Owens Corning roof looks great. Night sky shingle with white fascia and white gutters. Getting compliments already. My neighbors thanked me for bringing the neighborhood value up. They dropped the conduit in the attic & garage and painted it to match my stucco on the side of my house. All the extras included at no extra charge to me. They went up above and beyond.    Dexter kept me up to date on my SDGE electric box upgrade (painfully slow but not the company's fault). SDGE took forever to give us the work order on my electric box. Good riddance SDGE. Finally done with them.     Vincent coordinated my project scheduling and worked around my wife and I's hectic work schedule. He called & text me regularly with updates. The crews were excellent on both roofing & solar. Update!In fairness to Semper Solaris I thought I should rate them for my 1-solar installation, 2-roof leaking and 3-the outcome of my complaint about the leak. As I previously stated my initial installation was completed on time with no issues. For this reason, I would give Semper Solaris a Solid! 5 Stars!The roof leaking experience. You read my previous post. A Terrible! Ridiculous! Experience! 1 Star!The Outcome.  Shortly after my Yelp posting, I received a call from a Semper Solaris Manager (Upper Management).  He told me that I should not have endured the issues I experienced.  He gave me his personal cellphone number and assured me all my concerns would be immediately addressed.  He promptly scheduled a senior (experienced) roofer to come inspect my roof and the interior of my home.  The roofer concluded the damage was caused by my solar installation.  Semper Solaris agreed to make the necessary repairs.  The manager worked around my schedule to complete my repairs.  I was completely satisfied with the repair work. Very satisfied customer.  A great experience start to finish.  Everyone we dealt with was responsive, straight forward and knew their business well.  The made clear the options, process, timing and any potential variability.  They know all the cities in the area and which are faster or slower for permits and inspections.  We had one change order but they told me of the possibility upfront due to the size of our panel. Mark Ivory, the salesman was honest, efficient and open.  He gave clear options and did not try to upsell.Billie Yako, our Installation Coordinator, usually responded to email inquiries within minutes and kept us in tune with every step of the process.Eriel (sp?) and Junior were two of the 6-8 person site crew that i interacted with and both were awesome.  I was picky about the cable routing, but they were way ahead of me and had already figured out how to run everything in the most aesthetically neat manner.  They color matched the paint on the cable pipes to the stucco and trim. As with any tile roof installation, some tiles were broken (it can't be helped) and they (without asking) replaced the broken tiles and hid the new tiles (that stand out color wise) in an area of the roof not easily seen.  They lined up the panels with a great deal of care and precision. ie they did things the 'right' way.I've recommended them to 3 friends already.  Very happy we did it and love looking at how much power my panels are generating! Semper Solaris is undoubtedly the most customer centered company we have ever dealt with.   We have built a home, had an endless number of contractors, roofers, electricians, plumbers, flooring specialists over the years.  Although many were excellent, experience tells us to be careful.  Still, solar had reached a point where it was economically sound to invest in a system that would allow us to reduce our monthly expenditure on utilities.  We had interaction with several companies.  Competitive in their pricing, but one stood out above the others, Semper Solaris.   When we met with Mike Barnett (consultant/salesperson), he was extremely helpful and explained what would be a good investment and what probably should wait until technology improved, such as battery backups.  He explained that they offer a maintenance contract, but that the guarantee on the system components meant that it was not needed.  He pointed out, and I had verified on other reviews, that the company usually knows when there is a problem and contacts customers to make repairs under warranty before the customer is aware of a problem.  In addition, Semper Solaris was a couple of hundred dollars less than the next bid from an equally reputable company.   When I mentioned concern about roof damage (some wouldn't even consider installing on a tile roof) and other companies not guaranteeing the roof from damage, he said his company would repair any damage the company causes.  Billie Yako was the installation coordinator, and what a great job she did!    The timeline was met ahead of schedule.  The company discussed the placement of the system and running of conduits (which they matched to color of roof and walls) so that they were minimally invasive and visible.   They let us know when the plans were sent for permitting and were approved.  The crew that came, seven in total, were able to install the system on our home (about 3,000 sq. feet) in one day, granted it was long day.  Their work was excellent.  They broke one tile and replaced it.   We have never seen a crew work so hard and so carefully.  I thanked the crew chief for their outstanding work and consideration.  His response, "We really appreciate you choosing our company."   You don't hear that very often from workers with any company.  "We appreciate your business" was what we felt from everyone in the company with whom we spoke or interacted.The company had the building inspector out within a day and a half.  The inspector examined the work and was quite pleased.  By the way, the company had sent out its own "inspector" to check to make sure the work was perfect and sent another worker to meet the inspector.Following the permitting, Semper handled all the steps to get SDG&E to approve the connecting to the network.  Our guarantees/warranties from both the inverter company and the panel company arrived within days, and we got a check within a couple of weeks for our rebate on the panels.  There was not a single instance the company was not on top of our installation.  It is obvious Semper Solaris has a process that is carefully monitored internally and proactive.   The company's "team" approach focuses on customer satisfaction.   We literally didn't have to do anything with planning, permitting, utility approval or getting a rebate.   It took about six weeks from start to finish.  Semper Solaris proved to be outstanding, so much so that I have recommended it to my family and friends. My recent business with Semper Solaris has been Outstanding. Due to the recent rainy season, my roof was damaged and leaking.  I had five quotes with other vendors for solar and 3 quotes for the roof.  I decided to go with Semper Solaris because they had the best price for both solar and roof as a combo.  They also were veteran owned and had a good rating on Yelp and Google. I had to do research on the type of panels and invertors just to make sure that they had a quality product. Other's countered and still could not beat the price.  To start, my Consultant was Roland O.  He informed me on the process, how long it would take, and the cost. I was given a military/veteran discount. Next, was Field Supervisor Cesar A.  He walked me through the re-roofing project. That part of the project took about 2 weeks for the entire roof. Once complete, then the solar portion took place. Billie Yako, Senior Installation Coordinator, held my hand through the process, making sure everything was correct and on schedule. If I had any questions, then she would call, text, or email within 24 hours. The solar project portion took less than a week. SDG&E and the city inspection passed in less than a week later. Billie followed up making sure everything went smooth and insured that I was able to monitor my system online or on my smart phone. My new Owens Corning roof looks great! Panels are sitting low on the roof and are not an eye sore like many My neighbor even complimented me on the aesthetics of the system and asked who I went. I couldn't be happier with the customer support I got from Semper.  They did a fantastic job, were always super responsive to any issues.  Their price is great, especially considering the quality of the panels they provide and the amazing warranty.  They are quick with rebates and stuff.    I highly recommend them, but definitely talk to your neighbors who have gotten panels and find someone who used Semper and talk to them about it (also your friend/neighbor can get a referral fee then too :).  I put together a huge spreadsheet and evaluated 5 different co. before I picked Semper.  After having my panels for 4 months now and going through the whole process I'm sure I made the right choice.   I have friends that went cheaper and were pulling their hair out with all the issues they have had and they don't have the product guarantee on their panels like I do.  Semper has been around a long time, and they aim to please (you can tell by the reviews) so you know they won't let you down..... We signed a contract in September 2018 and the system was installed in February 2019. Chase, our sales guy (and a mighty fine one at that), told us it would take some time, so we weren't concerned. Everyone we dealt with were fantastic! John, the electrician and site manager was here when he said he would be, answered all out questions, and did a great job on the install. I should mention that we have a metal roof and another company we talked to wouldn't work on our roof. With all the rain we have had, we didn't have a single leak. Whenever we had a question or concern, Vincent at the home office was quick to respond and answer. The entire process was great. I had shopped around for solar and they weren't necessarily the least expensive but finding out why was the quality of not only their work but the panels that were put up. When I drive home I was expecting to see an eyesore with solar and I can honestly barely notice them (they are the all black panels, no cells you can really see). Financing options were great with a lender that will subordinate to any future refinances if that's what you're thinking about doing. Overall a great experience, they fixed part of my floor that was damaged during the installation and even helped me with something in my attached studio. Great knowledgeable people that care about how the system looks. Billy Jean was there whenever I needed anything. A family member did a lot of research and came up with Semper Solaris as an excellent, trusted company. His project went flawlessly some months ago so I took the leap. From initial sales presentation, everything was made very clear. Project manager Billie Yako was so very available and answered our few questions during the very quick process. In a matter of a few weeks from initial contact SDG&E worked most efficiently with Semper to do their part and yesterday the very professional and efficient installation crew finished. 8:00 AM-3:00 PM and all 24 panels were up. And the next day (today) the Santee building inspector met with the foreman and signed it all off. Within the next two weeks SDG&E will do their last bit and we'll be up and running.
