The evening was lovely. The wait staff was pleasant and friendly. The food was the best we have had eating out in a VERY long time. After needing a change of pace for restaurants we decided to hit this place up for a night out. I hadn't been in years so I was curious to see if the change of owners had any significant affect on the service and or food. Arrived a few minutes early and were promptly added to the group of tables that were being seated ( they seat in groups to serve each course around the same time). We were brought upstairs to a cozy table for two and were asked if we were celebrating anything. We were not but it was a nice touch. Champagne was brought to a table nearby that was celebrating their 20 year anniversary. We ordered drinks and were told of the first course appetizer options and which salad we would like and whether we wanted bread or not. When our drinks came back we put in our main meal order. Each course came out promptly and was pretty good. My date was very picky about his filet mignon and said his was pretty good but not the best he has had in the area. My fish was lovely and sides were cooked well. Service was prompt and super courteous. While the menu is limited each course has a good amount to appease many dietary needs. More...

This was our second visit in as many months. The first was before a performance at the nearby Theater at Monmouth on the recommendation of friends. The food and service were excellent although the staff was a bit stressed by the full house so the leisurely meal took almost two hours. Fortunately, we had allowed for that on the advice of the person who took our reservation. Although I had forgotten to mention my husband's allergies when I booked, the staff was helpful in accommodating them that night.Recently, we returned with my mother as part of her 96th birthday weekend celebration. The owner and the server remembered us from our previous visit and, again, the food and service were excellent:lobster/shrimp bisque and creamy vegetable soup to start, lamb and haddock for main courses, and apple crisp and ice cream sundae for dessert. I was feeling a bit ill but hadn't wanted to disappoint my mother by canceling the outing. Our server took note and tactfully offered gingerale and discretely boxed up my dinner and dessert. Overall we enjoyed the night. The waitress did mess up our drink order, although the drinks were excellent. And we had to ask twice for our dessert to go. I had the smoked scallops and shrimp. It was very good, but the orange marmalade sauce made it a little too sweet. My wife had the chicken pot pie with lobster. Again very good, but too many ingredients. Had breakfast for the first time at Sedgley Place this morning with a friend. It was wonderful!! Plenty of choices and the food was great. We drove by a few times during our moving process and the place was packed every night. We’ve always eaten a Sunday breakfast at our old local breakfast diner, but we had to find one closer to our new home. Very convenient location as it’s only 1-2 minutes away. The food is absolutely delicious, and I can honestly say I CANNOT believe that place wasn’t packed for breakfast this morning. The prices were very affordable, the staff was on top of it!
