I normally go in to Sals for the lunch buffet which is comparable to Valerios downtown. It's decent  and you always know that you can count on the salad to prepared well and cold. I went to Sals last night not knowing what I wanted but landed on the Philly cheesesteak sandwich. IT WAS GREAT.. they have the perfect match of meat cheese and bread  that takes you back to South  Philly . The only thing wrong is the packaging  allows the steam to form moisture in the tray that makes the bread moist on the bottom.  It just makes you to have to use the toaster oven at home to dry the sandwich out .. but other than that try this sandwich. Hidden gem. Looks like a hole in the wall however, have been around for over 40 years. It was our first time dining there . Restaurant was suggested by a friend. It is a very family oriented place and the people that work there are very nice especially the owner Sal. I had spaghetti with mushrooms and onions and a chef's salad and it was off the chain it was delicious.

This is my boyfriend's moms favorite place and I can see why. The food is wonderful as well as the atmosphere. The waitstaff is eh. Sometimes you get an amazing waitress and other times not so much.
