Friendly staff. Fresh vegetables. I got the Country Bowl with warm grains and kale. Just the right amount of acidity with balsamic vinegar and sweetness from the apple and candied walnuts!

I recently tried Salads Up for the first time when they were in the cafeteria in Domino's Farms. I spent less than I usually do on an "ok" salad from the salad bar, and got the kale caesar salad. It was phenomenal. I couldn't stop talking about it with my coworkers and I regret not getting another one to take home. I hope you guys will be back! More...

This turned out to be the ideal spot for Jamie W. and I to grab a bite while we were traipsing around Ann Arbor on a particularly chilly Sunday afternoon. It's close to campus right on Liberty Street, a small, efficiently run operation that offers fourteen different signature salads, warm grain bowls, and wraps. It was started by two recent Michigan alumni who opened this place just eighteen months after they graduated in 2013. They've already opened a second location in Madison, WI.It's obvious they've hit on a winning formula. Jamie and I were due back at his parents' house back in Waterford for a big dinner that evening, so something light was in order since we were too busy walking the campus to have an earlier lunch. I decided in the $9.35 Fresh Prince Salad at 380 calories, a bowl of Romaine and arugula tossed with avocado, edamame, carrots, apples, and dried cranberries, all of it mixed in a tangy carrot ginger vinaigrette (photo: bit.ly/2OTYlcV). Really tasty and healthy. Jamie one-upped me with the $10.85 SoCal Surf Salad, which was only 325 calories. It was also a bowl of Romaine and arugula but tossed with chopped cucumber, shrimp, red onion, kalamata olives, and roasted red peppers in a lemon herb vinaigrette (photo: bit.ly/2Ko9Bh1). He did request toasted croutons which probably made us neck-and-neck on the calorie count. His was also tasty, and he got shrimp as part of the bargain. If I was a Wolverine, I'd be in here a lot as I doubt I'd get anything so healthy in the dorm cafeteria.FOOD - 4 stars...full meal salads with manageable calorie countsAMBIANCE - 4 stars...clean open space, communal tablesSERVICE - 4 stars...friendly and speedy TOTAL - 4 stars...salad days indeedRELATED - Are you coming to Michigan? First visit, my lettuce was brown, which was very disappointing. Since I got a Yelp coupon for checking in, I decided to try it again. This time everything was great. Lots of interesting toppings, very quick service (in that Chipotle vein that everyone is doing now.) Prices are probably $2 too high, but I'm okay with paying for convenience now and then. More...

Great, quick, healthy option just off of State street. Place was clean and there was a short line. I was greeted by a friendly employee who suggested I try the Wild Thai with tofu and the Brotein Shake for dessert. Both of them were quite tasty. My buddy got the Kale Caesar which also looked good. Meant to do this awhile back but I did eventually go back to S'Up multiple times. They now make employees wear a bandana and hair nets and it's really great to see actual improvement based on Yelp feedback. Founders really care about quality and I appreciate that. Outside of that hygiene mishap - the food is so good (albeit a little bit pricey) that I wish it was a national chain like Potbelly's :)For people who like this place and want it cheaper - follow them on Snapchat and watch their snapstory for frequent and really good deals! Had to come back and update my review after vising the newly re-opened Salads Up! So I'm pleased to report they no longer chop the salads up before putting in your bowl. I like this because now all the salads are mixed and prepared individually and separately from others in their own contained, clean bowls. No cross-contamination of meats and veggies like before! The price hasn't really changed. I did a mix it up/customized my own salad and it was still around $11, but it was like 2 1/2 servings which was nice. The only downside still is that their signature salads don't offer a meatless option, or a substitute tofu or egg without extra charge. I feel like if I wanted to have a kale caesar but instead of chicken, have tofu, it shouldn't be an extra $1 to do so. Even for mixing it up or making my own, adding tofu, an egg, even cheese was an up charge. I think if you "mix it up" one protein should be included in the list. But, I still only paid around $11, so it wasn't TOO bad. Expensive for salad? Yes. But it's downtown Ann Arbor. More...

Came here the other day while out exploring AA and I have to say that the food was really good! My favorites were: the koto bowl, the pumpkin patch (seasonal) SoCal surf, the saddles up wrap, all the presses juices that they do in house and the açaí bowl! Everything is made in house fresh, including all of the dressing which is great! Prices are pretty fair for what you get size and freshness of your items.Things I didn't like: all of the smoothies and the wrap with kimchi- smoothies all had zero flavor and they should have strained the juice out of the wrap that had kimchi. The juice was puddled in the bottom of the bowl.Other than that the food was great and so was the service! More...

The staff here is incredibly kind and sociable, which I really appreciated since I was pretty grumpy/hangry coming in but left with a big smile! Very fresh food, great for a restrictive diet. You can see exactly what's going in your food and have a lot of choices!  If you're really counting calories, they have a choice of fresh lemon squeeze instead of dressing, and although sometimes that turns out bad and sour, theirs is very good because of the natural sweetness of their lemons. I never thought I'd be a salad fan until Salads UP came to town. I will agree with others that the prices are high, but let's be honest - the staff is fun and friendly, the ingredients are superbly fresh, and you do get a hefty amount of salad! Plus, it's nice that there is 'fancy' fruit infused water free to all customers as opposed to from a soda machine. My favorite salad is the Saddle Up, which is the perfect combination of crunchy, fresh, and spicy. Most of the time, I have to eat it in two sittings because they pack a lot of stuff into one bowl. It's a pre made salad from their menu but because I'm vegetarian, I requested egg in place of chicken. It was great! They were super accommodating of any substitutions I wanted, and I loved that they chopped the greens into edible sized pieces before mixing the salad! The dressing was delicious, and even though it was a chipotle ranch, not too calorie dense. The only complaint I have is that the boiled eggs were SO salty. Inedibly salty. The first time I came here I tried the spinach pesto and was not a fan-- basically tasted like leaves on my leaves but that was my own bad dressing choice.Delivery can take a super long time-- I had it take two hours once. And I've also gotten a salad without all the toppings ordered. I really like that we finally have a decent salad place downtown, I just wish their prices were a little lower for the quantity of food you're getting. Salads Up's flavors are pretty spot on; however, some things lack that pop of spiciness that would make the salad excellent (e.g., the shrimp skewers). I think I've stuck with the Maize and Bleu on each of my visits. They also have some interesting dressing options, such as "Seasonal Beer Vinaigrette," that you won't find elsewhere. I really want to love this place and have actually been here 4 times to-date.  They offer a large selection of fresh high-quality organic produce.  Love, love, love that they offer turkey bacon!  I appreciate their preparation technique, in which they chop the salad.  My two biggest complaints are that the dressings are so bland.  I always get mine to-go and end up pouring on my Martinez dressing from my fridge because their's just doesn't cut it for me.  If anyone who works there ends up reading this....seriously just adding some lemon juice and garlic to the ranch would really bring it to life. :)  My second issue is the price.  I can't justify paying $10 for a salad even if it is delicious.  So I only go there now when I find a "Hooked" deal or they offer me free cash via their Salad's Up app.  Because, I downloaded their app. they loaded $6 onto my account so I was able to try their Cobb salad and it was delicious (especially once I added my dressing).  Their soup is also yummy.  They also have good customer service.  I'm looking forward to another Hooked deal so I can return soon. My biggest problem is the service. I've been here twice and both times they were pretty unorganized. Some of them are unfamiliar with the ingredients as well... I had to point out where the kalamata olives and cucumbers were.
