Ruff Pup Training gets five stars! Why? Because Melissa is amazing. Starting out, our two boys, Mr. Wiggles (pomeranian / yorkie) and Harley (pit bull) were terrible leash walkers. They were also very easily distracted. Now they're super star leash walkers. We finished the personal training, now we're doing the group sessions. I have to say, I am extremely impressed. Not only is it affordable, but it works! And you get to train in the good outdoors instead of inside a pet store. How awesome is that? All natural circumstances deliver the best results. We recently adopted another puppy (chihuahua / pitbull...I know, don't ask, LOL) and we can't wait to start training her with Melissa. More...

Melissa is an EXCELLENT dog trainer! We have two small dogs who were pulling on leashes, had leash aggression, and who barked quite often. All of those things are past tense now. Her methods are gentle but effective, and more advanced than the "click and treat" that at a certain point stops working (especially with the barking). I rescued 2 pitts from a shelter and they were wild, to say the least, when trying to walk them. After the first session last week, both were walking at my side so much better and not criss-crossing around me. Melissa is a miracle worker! Just had my second session with Melissa and she taught the dogs to stay, come and how to handle aggression on a leash. You don't have to wonder with Melissa. What do you love most about your job?
The look on my clients faces when they start too see results with their dog. Most of my clients are so stressed with their dogs by the time they call me that they genuinely don’t think their is any hope that the dog will be better. When they see that my techques work, and that there dog does have a chance at being obedient the smile that lights up their face is priceless.
What inspired you to start your own business?
After training at Petco for almost 4 years, I decided that I wanted to get out of retail and focus on building a career out of the part I loved most about the job!
