What a quaint find. We usually eat at another bbq spot,  but lately they are closed, ran out of food,  just not good.  So I yelp  and this popped up,  so we gave it a try. A good spot to stop in at.  The bbq sauces are really good,  the cornbread was good as well. I'm very sceptical of cornbread with jalapenos,  but this was tasteful and didn't burn your mouth. The Chicken sandwich was delicious and I liked how the chicken was cut up and not chunks like most bbq places, where you have take a bite and hold the chicken in the other hand so you don't dropped the huge junk on your plate.  All in all, a new place to eat. LOVED IT! I am partial to a little bit of Cajun and BBQ so I was already super happy to find this place, but it lived up to all expectations and some. Best food in town for sure!! It is right by my place so i eat here as often as possible. Im from Mississippi, so the food here is as close as it gets to the south being that its in Arizona. This place had me hooked ever since I saw a fellow yelper's video of the pork ribs falling off the bone. Satchmo's is a great choice for bbq. My husband and I were hungry and shared the pulled pork sammich, which came with 2 sides as well as the full rack of ribs, which also came with 2 sides. For sides, we got the cornbread, mac n cheese, slaw, and sweet potato fries. The pulled pork and ribs were moist. Went great with the bbq sauce they had on the table. As for the sides, we loved the mac n cheese and sweet potato fries. The cornbread and slaw were lackluster and I wouldn't recommend them. We almost finished everything. We had some leftovers to take back to the hotel. All in all with tip and tax, we paid a little over 56 bucks. I would definitely come back for this bbq when back in Flagstaff again. More...

We stopped in after finding it on yelp. We live in Phoenix so it was a little hard to find for us and when we pulled up, we looked at each other like. .. this is it But I am SO GLAD we went in! It was a small homey place and very clean. The menu was diverse but not too much. I ordered the bbq chicken sandwich, Mac and cheese and red beans and rice. The sides were phenomenal....I could have eaten all side dishes! The bbq chicken sandwich was fantastic. I actually get grossed out by fat on meats and this was perfect for me. No fat, just chicken (or so it appeared Bc it's more of a shaved chicken not pulled or sliced.) my husband ordered the catfish. Now take this with a grain of salt because we are from southern Arkansas and northwest Florida, we know real, good catfish. It was just, ok. It was plain, not seasoned well for catfish. But like I said, were used to a certain kind of fried catfish and flavor. Could just be a different style out here. My husbands tots and fries were fantastic. I am not sure about the service, as you just order at the counter and make your own drink and stuff, but they looked nice. We need more of these places around Phoenix. OMG!  It was amazing. We ordered Lil Mo's because we wanted to try everything and it was so much food. We got falling off the bone pork ribs, pulled pork, brisket, jambalaya & tater tots. Everything was so delicious even the red beans w/rice which we ordered extra. We also got 4 buns that came with our meal. I will definitely eat here again if I'm in the area. We were just staying the night in Flagstaff and this place was chosen by my spawn, they are frickin psychic when it comes to picking the best hole in the wall restaurants.  It was me, my beloved spawn and my 87 y/o dad.  It was a tad loud in the kitchen so he went and shushed them...But the place smelled delicious so we ordered. Spawn and dad ordered drafts in glasses.  I noticed there was a patio and asked the fam if they wanted to sit outside as it was a really nice evening.  Well there was a step up and, although I warned my dad of the step, he didn't make it, fell, and sliced the bu-jeezzus out of his arm l, as he had fallen on the glass.I won't detail this any more for you but I just wanted to give a seriously grateful thank you to the owner/manager as he was so kind and helpful.He packed up our food as my dad was whisked to the Medical Center.  While it was not hot it was still super tasty!! Yooooo! This place is damn amazing! Let's start with that brisket: Melt in your filthy mouth! Make you back flip while barefoot in the summer on the pavement. Next up! That Blackened Catfish, served on a bed of rice: So good and savory, I had to ask everyone to keep it down so I could hear how good that bad boy tasted. I heard the flavor... you read that right. Imma breeze past the sweet potato fries and coleslaw, but just know they were fantastic sides. I dipped my fries in the spicy bbq and the Cajun sauce I had for my fish. NOW! The holy grail of the place, that slammin' Mac n Cheese: I 'bout damn near karate chopped my table and side kicked my server! Mac n Cheese ain't suppose to be that good. I had to listen to soothing sounds of nature on compact disc to calm my butt down. It had the flavor sections on my face acting out. Give them ALL THE STARS!! Phenomenal food and great service!! Coming in from Texas, we really were hoping for some good BBQ or Cajun food and Satchmo's delivers! ! Definitely the closest taste to home!!We got the Big Mo special and it was fantastic!! The jambalaya May be the best I've ever eaten!! I loved the spicy sauce and the boys loved the sweet sauce! This has to be the best place to eat at in flagstaff. Amazing food, and also nice people work here. I got the smofried catfish, and it was the first time I've gotten catfish, but I'm afraid about trying it again at a different place since it won't be as good as it was here. The tater tots and Mac and cheese were a cherry on top and were so delicious, and the rice was also great. The orange sauce mixed perfectly with the catfish and added a great flavor. The place also wasn't that busy during 1:00 pm, which I was surprised about. It also has a "old western town" look to the building, which was nice. My 80 yr old mother said the ribs were the best she had ever eaten!  Everything we ordered on our 2 visits during our vacation in Flagstaff was great!  I usually don't like catfish but tasted my husbands and liked it. The gumbo has that authentic file flavor and the jambalaya was spicy, just the way it is supposed to be. Delicious food! Came here with my boyfriend because we were staying in Flagstaff on the way to Antelope Canyon & Horseshoe Bend. I ordered blackened catfish style basa on jambalaya with mac & cheese and tater tots. It comes with a remoulade that's freakin delicious and I loved dipping the tots in it! (Had to ask for more bc it was so good). The jambalaya was also delicious and seasoned well.My boyfriend ordered the pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries and red beans & rice. Who knew the best cajun food I have had would be in northern Arizona?! I found this gem on a weekend trip to Flagstaff with my mom and, I have to say, this is my new favorite restaurant up north. It's kind of hidden, but totally worth it. Not only was the food great (I recommend the jambalaya and the mac and cheese - so good), but the service was excellent. Now this was a great find. They have delicious food - I had the jambalaya - and the prices are reasonable. Of course, it seems like half of Flagstaff knows about it. This place was on the list for places that checked all of the boxes and I am not disappointed we stopped here on the road trip. Not only is the staff super friendly and helpful but the food is beyond anything I can find at home. Everything we ordered was so good including but not limited to the pulled pork sandwich, the brisket sandwich, and the shrimp po-boy. They have seating inside and outside and beer on draft. So this place has some pretty good Creole food. Searching on yelp for some good places to try around Flagstaff, Satchmo's definitely topped the list with good reviews. Even some of the people we met here in Flagstaff said Satchmo's was a good place to try.We did takeout here and ordered Jumbalaya, which came with 2 sides of your choice. I ordered the tots and the Mac and cheese for around $16. It was on the more pricey side but the Jumbalaya was super flavorful and the sides were delicious.  Wow this makes me hungry again thinking about it.Overall, highly recommend trying while in Flag. We came here on a weekend trip to Flagstaff. My husband had been here before and wanted me to try it because he loved it so much. The patio was a great area that was private from the traffic and had plenty of shade. It was a fun outdoor atmosphere. I had the pulled chicken sandwich with macaroni and sweet potato fries. My husband got the cornbread, potato salad and pulled pork sandwich. We shared most of it so we could get a taste of it all. It was delicious. The Cajun crust on the macaroni gave a different yet yummy flavor. The cornbread was so good!! The meats were great. I loved that they came dry so you could use any of the barbecue sauces that you wanted! Wife and I stopped here during a visit to Grand Canyon. I had brisket which was marginal. Awesome side dishes, however, including best coleslaw I've ever had and very good baked beans. Also had a very good farm-style ale from a local brewery. Wife had pulled pork with a side of sweet potato fries and seasoned tater tots. She liked all of it. Service was good too. This place is out of the way but it was worth the drive. Ordered a half rack of ribs, gumbo, and a side of smoked beans and cornbread.
