Excellent wait staff, food look and taste wonderful. Highly recommended.
This is a beautiful place. The service is amazing, the food , variety, choice of wine etc. The sharing platter was perfect for our occasion. I amImpress how organized they are. Ben Uvodich, the manager is amazing, contacted him by e-mail, quick reply, helpful and made our experience the best. More...
Excellent meals, we allowed our waiter Anthony to pick our meals and not only was he an entertaining addition to our meal, his choices were perfect! I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fun night out! More...
Great dinner to celebrate husband's birthday. Mix of foods that were appreciated by all.
Always great food in a wonderful restaurant. The service was exceptional tonight with service by Christine. Ty!
Your server Brian was outstanding. We put our order in his hands and it was perfect.
First time there, we both ordered the Chef’s Choice. Super happy with that selection. The Brussels sprouts, pork belly, and Japanese Wagyu were second to none. Wine has a crazy makeup there. I get a markup, but damn. Their opus was 3 times what retail price is, and other nice bottles around the same. Did not have Caymus. Service was great, and the staff weren’t robots. Overall very happy and will return. More...
I didn't get any of the waiters name when I went to dine here. Very nice ambiance and great service. One of the waiters accidentally and very lightly bumped into my menu as I was looking it over and I didn't really notice or even seem to mind it at all, I knew it was an accident and he apologized like it was the end of the world and it really was no big deal at all but it goes to show you the type of place you're dining at. I started off with the Lobster Miso soup, I love miso and I love Lobster so I figured I would give it a try, it wasn't bad but I wasn't a fan, I moved on to the bone marrow, which this was one of my favorite dishes of the night, It was great in flavor and however they spiced it was amazing. I also ordered a roll that was a menu item on their happenings and a donation was made for October Breast Cancer awareness, I loved the roll but the I didn't like the aioli sauce, if you're a wasabi fan of that I am not you'll love it, however it just isn't for my taste buds. The main dish I ordered was the robata prime rib and that was decadent but they forgot my green onions as an add on. (It's all in the details) all items are pictured except for the Bordeaux red wine that I ordered. Overall an amazing experience and I can't wait to go back to try more of their sushi options. More...
lovely atmosphere, creative delicious food served in style, good spot for casual or business dining for full or partial meals.
Excellent food and wineIt was busy but they gave us excellent table
Amazing food and our server was very attentive. I will have to return the next time I’m in Houston. Make sure you get the beef appetizer. Yum!
The tasting menu is highly recommended. Service was A+. A go to place in River North.
Amazing service again and food impeccable.
This is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in Houston!!! Definitely go with the "Entrust the Chef" option. Everything was absolutely delicious
I have gone here continuously since they opened.Amazing food and customer service each and every time! I especially love the Ube dessert and scallop roll. I highly recommend this place especially if you're ever at Old Orchard! :) More...

Best food and Superior service!
Brandon was wonderful as were the managers. Very accommodating. Will be back
Our service was amazing and the food was great too! We ordered 5 items to share between 3 people and that was pretty perfect for a lighter meal that left everyone full without being overly stuffed. Location is great, we were going to a show at the Chicago Theatre. The server got us out right on time based on our schedule to make our show. More...
Absolutely delightful. I sat at the counter overlooking the sushi chefs although I had a steak. Fun to watch them all interacting basically without a word being exchanged between them and interacting by instinct. My steak was excellent and the bone marrow extremely creamy. I also had the crispy brussel sprouts which had bonito flakes on them and I was blown away by their taste. A delightful time. The bar was also a treat in that they were happy to concoct a Corpse Reviver #2 for me. It was my birthday so they gave me a complimentary dessert accompanied by champagne which was lovely. A wonderful place. Go there. More...
Excellent food, great menu choices. Nice setting! Service was fine.
We've visited Roka a good handful of times, first for a full a la carte experience and then at their happy hour sat at the bar! All times we've been extremely pleased with the service and quality/taste of food. Yes the regular menu is a little pricey but you get what you pay for and more, the food is tremendous! All the wait/bar staff are really knowledgeable or the menu, they provide fantastic service , and all seem to be very happy/proud to work there! It gives off a real tight knit vibe from the team. The decor is that of classic up scale restaurant, very relaxed, smart, simple and low key. The happy hour is tremendous with a good large selection of food items at a fraction of the price and drinks selection also! We will continue to visit. Tip: if the regular menu is too pricey, check out the happy hour! More...
Amazing Experience and food was outstanding. Best place I have been in Chicago so far

We went on our anniversary. Food was delicious and service was outstanding.
I really enjoyed my meal from start to finish and the service was great!
Where do i start?! From the moment I walked into Roka, I felt so welcomed. I came on Sunday with my friends for my birthday and I loved every moment. The hostess greeted us with a smile and sat us right away, Sunday's are a little slower, so there was no wait, but who likes to wait?! I would say go on a Sunday or Monday because you definitely don't want to miss out.Branden was our server, he is amazing and made sure dinner was memorable. Super attentive and knowledgeable about the food and drinks. Also Ricky, the manager came around to everyone dining and made sure everything was perfect. The food is to die for, everything was so fresh and full of flavor. The presentation is on point and definitely foodie picture worthy! We had the omakase and was definitely a bang for your buck. I left stuffed, my stomach was definitely full and happy! My favorites were the ALASKAN KING CRAB, can i just drink the sauce! (Drooling as I'm talking about it) The corn in its soy garlic butter glazed on top (it is cut for you but still on the cob, still worth it). The Wagyu (melts in your mouth). The green tea with banana dessert ( who ever came up with this is such a genius ) it's not too sweet but it's different and I would come back just for this dessert. Pictures definitely look good but the taste is even better. More...
by far the experience is perfect, the staff is great and the food is amazing. if your in the area and have the money to spend you have to try....
Excellent service, food was fantastic. Will definitely be returning.
I’ve been to Roka several times and unfortunately this last visit was disappointing...not sure if I’ll be returning.
Roka is always a fantastic go-to for Sushi, Seafood and a unique Steak experience. Freddie was our waiter and he is incredible! He is knowledgable, attentive and has the best recommendations for the perfect Sake to pair with whatever you are eating. I highly recommend Roka for your next Sushi dinner! More...

OMG! We went here for an event and the food was amazing! Hands down the finest Japanese food I have had. They started us with a cocktail. I had the Whiskey Fashioned. Very good. It had some kind of Japanese whiskey and was super smooth. Then we had a trio of nigiri, Toro Nigiri, Flame Seared Salmon Nigiri, Hamachi Nigiri. They were all fabulous! Lastly, we had the Japanese Wagyu with garlic mashed potatoes and mushrooms. Best steak I have ever had.We got to meet Chef Ce Bian and he was super excited about what he does. He took time to explain to us what we were eating. Loved the atmosphere, a kind of modern chic. I'm ready to go back. Who's in? More...

5 of us tried the Omakase tasting menu. We thoroughly enjoyed each course, with many highlights. One of our party is not a "sushi person", so the chef accommodated with great success. Server, Mark, did a great job.
Great private dining spaces! Not to mention the food!!!
Impeccable experience - food, ambience, cocktails (get the margarita) could not be more on point!
Absolutely amazing every single time ! Hands down one of the best places I’ve ever eaten in Chicago! I made a reservation for a date after having posted a review from a prior dining experience. The assistant manager went out of his way to ensure an above par dinner and experience as well as taking care of the bill for us for no reason specifically. Best service, best food, amazing ambience and by far highly recommended as one of my favorite places in all of Chicago. Thank you Roka Akor for this incredibly unique and fantastic experience I won’t forget and neither will my guest. Recommend the crispy squid, bone in ny strip or anything with the miso truffle butter and Brussel sprouts just incredible every single time. Above reproach More...

Creative, high quality sushi related cuisine
My friend and I meet here every other week for happy hour, sometimes we stay till the restaurant close. We love waiter / bartender Hun, he is the best! We only go when he is working. The food is always great, the drinks are the best! More...
Funky Japenese themed quisine that was quite tasty. Good drinks in a nice environment to talk freely. Waitstaff outstanding, thoughtful and honestly helpful!
Excellent food and service overall. Probably the best quality beef in town.
Really nice vibe at this place. It's a sexy restaurant, which is why I think it gets a lot of buzz. It's a good place to bring a first date or to go for an anniversary date. I think the food is above average. I've had a few plates that are amazing, and then a few that are just so-so. Their nigiri is good and I will continue to get it. I was not impressed with their cooked dishes, however. The steak I thought was underwhelming. The crab legs were also just too fishy for me. If you want to play it safe, just order their nigiri and sashimi and you'll be golden. More...
If I come back to Chicago again, I am definitely hitting up this restaurant. Every dish was absolutely delicious. Flavors that came so well together. My fiance and I had the decadent omakase and we are so glad our waiter Gary suggested it. It had 5 coursed, and we left pleasantly full. My favorite was the foie gras and the rib eye. Food this delicious made me very happy. By the end of it, I found myself sitting there with the biggest smile because the overall experience of food and service was so excellent. I hope to be back! Wonderful tasting experience
Fancy enough menu without being toooo crazy. Omikase menu is delicious.
We enjoyed a lovely family dinner thanks to our waiter Anthony who patiently guided us through the menu. Looking forward to our next visit
Our server Jennifer was outstanding! She was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable.
Sushi was fresh and delicious. We had some of their sushi specials but I can’t remember the fishes and salmon definitely will be back.
Roka Akor delivers on fine nigiri/sashimi and grilled meats. Customer service here was good, and the waiters take the time to really thoroughly explain the dishes beyond what I've seen at other restaurants. We ordered the Chef's Nigiri and Robata Grilled Pork Belly, both were flavorful. Similar to what other reviewers have mentioned though: this place is no doubt good, but for the price it's very mediocre. Atmosphere is nice, open, and not too loud. There is also free garage parking. Overall, a solid place to try. More...
Always great food and service. Great wine list. Ask for the manger, Ricky
This post is way over due but I love this place! I came here for the first time on July 16, 2017. I remember bc this is my birthday and also the day I got engaged! My husband and I had such an amazing dinner. I ordered the short ribs and he ordered the chicken. We ended up splitting the food which the kitchen did for us! If you're going to splurge on a fancy place, pick this one. You will not regret it. I promise. More...

I ate the best steak of my life at this restaurant! They offer full service at their bar where my bartender was beyond knowledgeable of their certified Wagyu selection. I got the Hokkaido with brussel sprouts and melted in my chair. This place may be more ideal for sushi if you want affordability. But if you can, treat yourself to their perfectly seared Kobe steak and wash it down with some Japanese Whiskey. I will be back! More...
Only had drinks and some sushi so far and I’m already like the place a lot. sara, the bartender, was great and made me one of the House specialties, and it was great. I can’t wait for my entree. Coming back tomorrow to try the king crab. I’m sure I’ll be back rack time I come to AZ. More...
I had a great previous dining experience at Roka Akor, and my friend and I came back for more, for the omakase this time. We were greeted by glasses of champagne and a light, refreshing ceviche-on-cucumber appetizer on the house. We did the Signature omakase, which is ~$100 per person, and I thought it was really worth it! I would definitely recommend doing the omakase on a special night. We had an amazing experience as the five courses plus dessert came out one by one. Each dish was delicious and the overall balance and sequence of vegetables to fish to meat were great. The portion was generous as well, that we couldn't finish our last course and had to take it to-go. More...
When we are in Chicago Roka Akor is a must. Love love love this place. David or server was fantastic.
Excellent. Best sushi place I've been to so far in Houston. Had several rolls and great bottle of sake.
Amazing. Mere words can't describe the experience. From an Asian heritage I couldn't help but love the modern chef twists on my culture's traditional cuisine!
Arrived early so we could sit in the very spacious, comfortable bar area and enjoy a couple drinks, the bartender was very friendly and attentive. We were seated promptly at our reservation time and sat at a booth along glass wall (wine cellar) where you can glimpse at all the different bottles and a nice view of the sushi bar. The inside of Roka Akor is very spacious and decorated nicely, very warm and inviting. Our server, Christos, came by promptly and we got re-fills on our drinks. While we looked at the extensive menu, Christos offered us suggestions and gave us time to ponder what we wanted....this wasn't our first time at Roka Akor and we always want to try something different. Since we were unsure on what to order, Christos suggested the Omakase Signature which is a, I believe, 6 course meal that the chef creates. Very glad we went with his recommendation as we ate everything from sushi to tender pieces of raw and cooked fish, to tender steak with bone marrow and a rice/mushroom dish along with Black Cod which was to die for! The dessert was outstanding, a chocolate lava type cake with assorted ice creams and fresh fruit. This Omakase Signature was the way to go as you can try all sorts of the chefs creations, VERY VERY GOOD! Can't say enough good things about Christos, always had a smile, very attentive without being overwhelming, he really made our dining experience enjoyable. We spent about 2 hours at Roka Akor and never felt rushed. The manager came by and thanked us for coming back, very nice. When visiting Chicago, it's worth a stop, you won't be disappointed. More...
I absolutely loved my experience here.. the service was Phenomenal and the waiter was amazing. His name was Gary in case you ever want to request him. Went to celebrate a birthday. Great choice and wonderful experience.
I dined in before church one Wednesday. I went for sushi. OMG the japanese wagyu roll is AMAZING as well as the soft shell crab roll !!!
Love coming here! It's pricy so we only come for special occasions, but when we do it's worth it! The king crab entree is a MUST!
Few restaurants have been deemed calorie worthy. Roka akor definitely leads the list.

Best sushi in town
My first time dining here and it will not be my last!Reservations should be made. Our waiter was pretty awesome. He gave us a very detailed summary of the menu and drink menu. I'm a very picture type of person so as he was describing it, I had each entrée pictured in my head. LOL.I love the ambience here. Lights were dimmed so it made date night romantic. It was pretty quiet Sunday night but has potential of being nosey do to high and open space.Sushi here is very fresh. Cannot come here and NOT order the sushi. It's a must. I was so happy when our waiter said they had UNI since they seem to "run out" at others sushi restaurants. Pork belly is a must. Very flavorful and tender. We left stuffed! More...

What a great birthday dinner we had here Saturday night. Loved the atmosphere, great cocktails and even better service (Jennifer & co)Started with the sashimi - salmon (both regular and ora king) and the fatty blue fine tuna. The wasabi was shaved table-side and the tuna was served with pink Himalayan salt and little flecks of 'gold', followed that with the Miso marinated black cod and the rice hot pot with the shaved truffle - all delicious. The only two items what won't make my list on my next visit, the brussel sprouts (charred style) and dumplings. Neither was bad, there are just too many better options to order them again. More...

It was great! Our waiter was awesome and had some great suggestions and quick, informative answers. Made us feel special on our 3rd anniversary.
Always a satisfied customer, I've been coming here for years. Sometimes alone shopping and a quiet lunch but today was a little extra. The chef I guess noticed I was alone and idk kinda sad (I am :( lol) and brings this to me just because.. that little extra is sometimes all someone needs .. did I forget to say how freekin delicious it was omgggggg the beer was so fresh and the combination of flavors all at once .. idk what it's called but I guess I'm lucky since the chef makes it spontaneously lol always good More...
Successful revisit 8/31/19. The sashimi was great. We tried a few of the specials like the salted salmon roe and Spanish mackerel.
We had a great waiter. He made the experience even more fun! We didn’t have a great table. My view looked into the coat closet and was right next to a servers computer.
We had the Omakase Decadent menu...Wow!!! Guy was a great server and attendant to our needs and wants.

Wow! Have been here twice for special occasions with my hubbie and had the omakase decadent both times and it is definitely decadent! Went a year ago and then recently and all the offerings were different but everything amazing each time. All the food is so unique and delicious and it's a lot of food so go on an empty belly if you're doing the omakase! Service is great and you will feel pampered. Only thing, some of the hostesses were snobby, little rude things but don't let it detract from the main event! Hey hostess, humble yourself...your just a hostess. More...

One of the top 3 sushi restaurants in Houston hands down. If you don't know, now ya know...
As far as a high-quality Japanese steak house, this is A+ material. Excellent options from Snake River Farm Wagyu to a nice variety of Japanese Grade A5 Wagyu. highly recommended! Dee-lish apps ranging from succulent beef tataki to flavorful wagyu beef & kimchi dumplings! (not to say the restaurant doesn't have great seafood/sashimi/sushi offerings but we decided to go for the steaks instead)Cocktails were vibrant and meaningful in flavor.our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and offered nice insight to the libations and cuisine. she was also very friendly, professional, and courteous.the only minor things that caught my attention were:- there was a very minor water drip from the ceiling above our table by the window (NOTE: the server was very friendly & helpful in moving us but it was so minor it did not bother us enough to move)- the restaurant is using/providing the super cheap wooden "paired" chopsticks for utensils. a high-end restaurant like this can surely afford better and higher quality chopsticks than these typical wooden ones that require the user to "break them apart" prior to usage. also, it would flow better with the overall restaurant image and create a more enjoyable dining experience. we were told this is a "corporate" decision to use the cheap wooden chopsticks. hmm..... 10/10 must try Dining Experience, especially the course menu
Great service, outstanding food, and we really liked the business lunch set.
This is the only place we can agree to visit repeatedly! The service is always fantastic. The food is amazing. For the first time, we went for a birthday dinner & they made it extra special for my husband’s birthday
Very impressed with the food and service. Highly recommend!
We had an amazing vegetarian omasake! It was the best in Houston!
We enjoyed the Omakase signature tasting menu. Every course was good and the presentation was appealing. The only items I did not like was the corn and the fish wrapped in a leaf course. The fish just tasted extremely fishy n didn't have any really flavor/ seasoning. The corn on the cob was just very underwhelming and impossible to eat with the chop sticks we were left with. The dessert platter was decadent and had wonderful options- my favorite was the mango sorbet. Staff and service was friendly and mostly timely but had to make a great effort to get replacement chopsticks when I dropped mine and they didn't provide knives or forks with the courses that could use them- specifically, the corn on the cob course. Hot hand towels were a nice touch. I also ordered their "better together" cocktail which was refreshing, a glass of Carnero's red wine (Perfection:) and their espresso martini with dessert. More...
Excellent Food, excellent service
Mark did a fantastic job. 10/10 service
Debra and I celebrated our 20th anniversary at Roka Akor in Skokie. The food was wonderful, and Dan was a great server. He was knowledgeable about the food and very attentive. We started with the Salmon Tataki for an appetizer, which was quite tasty. Then Debra had the Korean Spiced Lamb Chops, they were cooked perfectly. I had the Prime Skirt Steak with Garlic Soy Sauce. Both meals were excellent. The Bento box also comes with Miso soup (which is chock full of mushrooms), Roasted corn on the cob and rice. I ate all of my rice after dunking/soaking it in the Garlic Soy Sauce. Yum!!!For dessert we had the Ube Pot de Creme which is a purple Yam pudding with Rice Tuile and fruit. It was absolutely delicious... this dessert was like eating a piece of artwork (see attached photo). More...
Absolutely love this place. We had sashimi and sushi and it was delicious. Our server Brandon was top notch too! By far one of the best servers we've ever had. Look forward to going again!
The first thing I noticed was that all the hostesses are small, hot asian girls. I don't mind it. Next, the service is amazing! I've been here twice but both times, the waiter/waitress have been so attentive! The sushi is pretty fresh and presented really nicely. All the dishes were great but the one that I always get is the Japanese mushroom rice hot pot! Get it! You won't regret it. One of my fav things about Roka is for my bday, instead of doing dessert, they gave my table of 6 each a glass of bubbles instead! Bubbles are so much better than dessert. More...

The Decadent Omakase Chef's Tasting Menu was truly amazing. Each course was a delight. The sushi and sashimi were the freshest I have had and outstanding. The wasabi was real and ground at the table. There was gold leaf and other touches that impressed and enhanced the experience. Each dish was pleasing visually, and to the pallet. An absolutely wonderful place, with dark cozy seats, a bar from which you can watch how the kitchen prepares your meals and the usual bar where you can drink, while looking outside of their large panoramic windows. All the staff are friendly and polite. The waiter, Tommy, knew the menu inside and out while helping determine the perfect choice among a huge number of dishes.Pork belly - some divine miso sauce! Pork was amazingly tender and melts in your mouth.Tuna roll - rustic but tasty.Escolar - it is very difficult to convey this taste, refreshing sauce, crisp asparagus.Yellow tail sashimi - classic sashimi. Seared salmon and unagi tempura - torch salmon on top, eel inside, crispy tempura my taste buds were overwhelmed...guys, so delicious!!! Best roll!!Lobster and Shrimp dumplings - slightly roasted dough; when biting, juice flows from the inside, a classic combination of crab and shrimp. And lastly, dessert - green tea cream brûlée with caramelized bananas, banana foam and mochi - I advise you to come to this restaurant at least for the sake of this dessert!! MUST TRY! It was an unforgettable dish, that made you forget all other you've had in the past. Amazing!I hope my review will help you to choose in visiting this restaurant! More...
Calamari was very crisp, pork belly was just right, and everything else was exquisite. Thank you Monica for your hospitality!

This is a terrific place, octopus was perfectly grilled, sashimi were excellent, the vegetables were delicious and the sorbet was nice My favorite place downtown

Exceptional food, knowledgeable and friendly staff. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough.
Portions were very small, not enough. The ambient and service was great
Great food, stylish The scallop makis were amazing, fresh product, lots of varieties of wagyu 100% recommendable
WOW, this place is awesome! We came here for our anniversary dinner, immediately we were greeted with a warm welcome and seated during our reservation time slot. Valet parking is free (just gotta tip the valent attendant), the ambience is very upscale and modern, yet cozy. We started with the seared scallops, which was cooked perfectly and was one of our favorite dish. Next was the fried squid, the battered made it stand out from your usual fried squid/calamari; it tasted like well seasoned chicharrones. My girlfriend and I shared the chef special, which include a varied of fish such as salmon, tuna, and Spanish mackerel. EVERY single dish was beautifully present and tasted super fresh. Everything was fantastic from the food, drinks, service, and atmosphere. Thank you Roka, Maxine, and Molly for the amazing and memorable night More...

Service and food were fabulous! Steak was cooked perfectly. The banana cake with toasted coconut ice cream was truly the highlight of the evening!
Great food and service. Loved everything.
Great Omakase dining experience and great sake selection.
Great place. For food lovers... Only. Phantastic. If you do Not like This or that....Coming from Germany and never missing the opportunity to enjoy Roka. Great Team. Great Chef.
Excellent moment dans ce restaurant ! Très bons plats , service parfait ; un peu bruyant , comme souvent aux États Unis...

The Roka Akor is just outstanding! We took the signature menu which was just excellent! The quality of the food and the presentation were really at a top-level.Service was perfect. There is simply no negative point.À recommander!! More...
First time I had chicken teriyaki and it was just ok. All other bento boxes I’ve tried at lunch have been better.
My best friend took me here for my birthday dinner and she ordered the "Omakase" dinner or Chef's choice dinner. It was a 6 course dinner menu with cold and hot items. The Chefs at Roka only use the best and freshest ingredients which is evident in the harmony of bold and delicate flavors. Everything they served from the Wagyu sushi, grilled scallops, sashimi platter, the king crab in butter sauce, the 3 mushrooms risotto, roasted brussel sprouts, Wagyu steak and the decadent dessert platter was so delicious! We enjoyed the food so much we forgot to take pictures. The ambiance was classy and service was excellent too. I will definitely return for special occasion or happy hour. It might be pricey but I think it's worth it. We left full and happy! More...
My current favorite upscale sushi restaurant in town! The food is amazing and the staff are great as well! I went here for my birthday dinner and everything was fresh. Our server gave great recommendations and the food items were reasonably priced as well. The decor is moody with tall ceilings. Definitely a great place for a special occasion. More...
Staff is incredibly polite and professional. A great venue for business or personal.
We went to Roka Akor last night. It was a Friday night so it was crowded but we walked in after 9pm so they were able to get us to a table right away without a reservation. Looking around the room you notice the shmoozy atmosphere and the cozy lighting. A lot of the people dining there appeared to be pretty stuffy or maybe a little arrogant, however, this did not translate to our server. Brandon was so very friendly and upbeat. He was excited about the menu and anxious to explore it with us. He was very helpful with our questions and responsive to our requests. We had several appetizers and all 3 of us ordered different entrees so we could taste test. The shishito peppers were really good. They weren't too smokey and had a nice kick to them. The edamame order was huge! They were spicy too but not so much you wouldn't go back for more! The uni with chicharrones was really good. The delicate uni on the crispy chicharrones and a few drops of lime was a nice combination. The mushroom miso soup was stuffed with chunks of mushroom and tofu. Way chunkier than any other I've ever had. Good if you live those. I ordered the glazed pork ribs (half rack) which was about 7 ribs. Plenty for me! Oh my gosh, SO good!! It tasted like it had a 5 spice powder or cardamom hint to it. It was a very tasty and very tender dish!! I loved it!! One of us ordered the spicy tuna roll and the flat iron steak. He enjoyed both! The tuna roll was fresh and flavorful and the flatiron was tender and cooked to perfection! The other one ordered the hamachi serrano roll and the seared escolar and prawn roll. He loved both of them. For dessert we had the Yuzu cheesecake with pistachio ice cream. The cheesecake was probably the best I've ever had! A light, fresh citrus flavor and the best vanilla whipped cream on the planet! The pistachio ice cream was also delicious! The cocktails were all well made and perfectly balanced. Great bartender. I'd certainly go back to this place when I return to Houston. The parking sucks so we had to valet. Not sure but you may HAVE to valet there. Very limited parking. More...
Got the deluxe omakase and the food was a 6/5 - phenomenal. But for the price, was unimpressed by the takeout-quality disposable chopsticks, and the whiskey glasses provided for our sake (we were told the “little sake cups” were all being washed). Overall, if you’re going for the food, you won’t be disappointed. But don’t expect a true Japanese-style steakhouse experience. More...
Just excellent all the way around. Food quality and service are 5 stars. Seated instantly for our 7:45 PM Saturday reservation, waiter was table side with in 2 minutes, service was fast but not hurried, food was great. The octopus grilled and the Lobster/shrimp dumplings were 5 stars. Great value too. More...
Roka Akor is my top choice of restaurant in Chicago. Dine here as many times as I can.
Love Roka Akor, great food, great service. We eat there twice a month if not more. I highly recommend it.
Excellent experience. Very good service and food. Would highly recommend
Great food, but very loud.
Refined service, wonderful food and presentation. The omakase needs a directory as it was tough to remember all the items. The only negative is the expediting of the orders to the staff is overwhelming if sitting nearby. Headsets maybe? More...
Best place for bdays! They give you free champagne toast, app, and desert with a candle!
I had passed this place several times off Alabama St at Weslayan with the thought of stopping bye. Located in high rise upscale apartment building where I was staying which made it convenient...but parking is easy with many spots in second floor including easy valet option out front. Nice relaxing upscale atmosphere....great place for a date night or with a business associate. More casual dress on weekends. Craft drinks, full bar, draft beer and nice wine selection with great bartender. Top Japanese/Asian Fusion restaurant I have dined to date in Houston. Waygu beef, ribs, sushi, and some great fusion dishes. Nice sides, salads and appetizers. Portions were good and quality was top notch. Wait staff was very attentive. I will return!! More...

overall a good experience, a little noise but the ambience and food were very good. I recommend it!
It's easy to get a seat for a business lunch. Quality of food is superb, and we really enjoyed the outdoor seating on a nice summer day.
Our server, Anthony, recommended specific dishes and drinks, which we appreciated. We ordered a number of items he recommended. Food and drinks were delicious!
Treated wonderfully. Best dining experience my colleagues and I had this week while working in Chicago.
We had sashimi, tempura, desert of the day, these were excellent! We dined twice at the restaurant in a few days time. We'll be back during our next visit to Chicago! The service was super! Thanks !
We went to Roka Akor for a friend’s birthday. Everything was fabulous from the time we sat down until we were finished. We tried a wide variety from the menu and enjoyed everything. We will definitely return as we had an excellent evening! More...
Decided to try Roka again. Had the yellowtail sashimi and the salmon. Absolutely wonderful! We also tried the prime Kobe beef. Our waiter suggested we eat it last so it can remain in our palette. He was SO right. It was the most tender juicy piece of beef I've had. And what a presentation! It came over a bed of smoky charcoal with just a dab of wasabi on the side. It needed nothing. It was amazing on its own! It's on the pricey side but to be fair, it is imported from Japan. Will definitely return! More...
I went to Roka Akor for an anniversary with my girlfriend. This was our first time there and we really didn't know what to expect. We started out with a couple of drinks and ordered an appetizers. We hosted my girlfriend's birthday party here on a Friday night. They were awesome! The service was out of this world, they gave us a private room and our own server. I highly recommend this place for a upscale feel and taste. We had some of the Japanese A5 steak and it was amazing! More...
WOW what can I say but WOW. We came here for our anniversary and boy did we score on food and service. Right off the bat, we knew to just do with their omakase service. Ordered our first drinks of the old fashion and dreams of green. (A recommendation for those who likes their cocktails on the refresher side- same with my second drink of the saketini)Their omakase have 6 courses: starting off with cold appetizers, then hot then to sushi and sashimi; onto king crab and corn. Final entree of Japanese wahgyu with truffled mushroom congee. The 6th course are several servings of desserts: lava cake, strawberry lime sherbet, banana custard and an almond ... vaniella ice cream? Overall we were stuffed at the end. Our server, Ralph, was not kidding when he said "you're not gonna go to Whataburger in 2 hours." I think I'm stuffed until tmrw!! Oh! They also have an appetizer for dessert! It was a chocolate truffle. Overall service was great, every was very attentive. They have loads of recommendations to give on how to best eat each course. Therefore you can tell they are extra knowledgeable on what is presented which I find key to services. My husband was so impressed with everything he said he gives this place a 10/10! Will come back in the future. Also self parking on the second floor if you desire. More...

Omasake at Roka before a broadway. Service was great.
Lamb chops were great!!!!!
Will definitely return for the steak!
Food was A-Maz-zing!!! Highly recommend. Everything we ordered was good!
Had another great birthday dinner at Roka with Adam serving us. His Great suggestions helped us out! Drinks were all amazing. Great creations here. Wagyu dumplings were a big hit. Sushi is unique and dinner is always perfect! Steaks are the best. If you are a steak person you must try one here. Also, one of our favorite things here is the mushroom risotto with shaved truffle. Omg. Delicious. Thanks for another great birthday dinner! More...
Been to this place once and the food quality is just A1. Everything was delicious from their sashimi to their CARROTS! Their Wagyu just melts in your mouth.
WOW! Finally had a chance to eat here and it met ALL expectations. I fell into a food coma afterward! Valet parking is available but there's also a parking garage right behind it with plenty of parking (we went at 6PM on a Saturday and there was a lot of parking). The decor is beautiful and very upscale, and they have an open robata grill that you can sit at the bar at and see the whole open kitchen. We of course got sushi and steak to fully immerse in the food style. We started with the beef tataki and of course the robata grilled scallops. The scallops did NOT disappoint. The tataki was good, but wish I went with the pork belly instead. For sushi, we got the 7 pieces of the chef's selection and a couple of other nigiri specials they had. For me, the winner was THE STEAK - I can't even begin to tell you how tender the Wagyu Sirloin and Bone Marrow was. 5/5. It was tender and flavorful and melted in your mouth. For dessert, we ordered the warm chocolate cake and yuzu cheesecake and they threw in an extra chocolate cake for us that was TO DIE FOR. Highly recommend that if you're just choosing one dessert. Will 100% be back to try more dishes. More...
Came here for the omakase and the food was amazing! i loved the A5 wagyu and the butter corn. Definitely coming back to try more!
Beautiful sashimi presentation
I really enjoyed my experience here. I would say the quality of food is easily competitive with the likes of my other similar go to's, Uchi and Kata Robata. I liked the ambiance of the restaurant, and the kitchen area enclosed in glass. Our waiter was really nice and gave suggestions as well as let us decide for ourselves. My dream is to live in the highrise that this is located in. The parking is a bit of an issue if you don't want to valet, it's pretty limited as you may only park on one level of the garage (not many spaces), while the resident entrance is gated off. We got our staple dishes - yellowtail sashimi, a handful of nigiri pieces, a couple of different maki, Yuzu Miso Black Cod, Fire Cracker shrimp. All delicious. If only I had room for dessert. I would gladly return to dine here again. More...
A+ on food, service, atmosphere, wine selection, and decor. It is ABSOLUTELY worth the price!! Great happy hour options as well
Great location, appreciate the valet parking... atmosphere very nice. Food was good. But I'm yelping because of the level of service we received. Brandon Pham served our group and his attention to detail was memorable as well as worth taking the time to make sure he is acknowledged for it. Too few really take the time to really show customers they are worthy of exceptional service. I thank him for that and commend this restaraunt for hiring professionals to represent them. An enjoyable experience. More...

Great food. Great service
Very nice sushi/steakhouse combo! I first tried this place on a yelp elite lunch event, and it was so good I had to come back and try it again. It was just as good as the first time I ate it. I ordered the pork belly, 7 kind chef selection sashimi, gulf shrimp tempura, snow crab and avocado maki, and the shrimp tempura maki. The pork belly is a solid 10/10. You must try this if you come here. The sashimi was extremely fresh and delicious. The gulf shrimp tempura appetizer is really good. The maki was good as well but their rolls here taste a little different than traditional sushi rolls.Highly recommend this place! Roka Akor is by far the best Sushi Restaurant I've been to. The staff & service is always top-notch, the food is excellent, and the decor and atmosphere is trendy and modern. I've been here many times and each time, it is another home run hit. I've ordered many different menu items and haven't had a bad taste yet, try everything there! Last night I tried the king crab and, yet again, I was impressed. I can't recommend this place enough, go go go, you will be glad you did. It's on the higher end of the sushi restaurants, make it a date night or business outting. More...
This is our second time visiting and it did not disappoint. Very clean, trendy spot with great service, and an excellent menu. Be prepared to spend a pretty penny, but definitely worth it! The pictures in my review are self explanatory. The food looks amazing and it tastes 100x better. We started with the grilled pork belly. It was so fatty and flavorful. We had the chef choice- sashimi next. This is where the chef chooses the fish to serve. We have 7 different types of fish. Each extremely fresh. We followed up with both the soft shell crab maki and the hamachi. The flavors excellent. We also had the A5/10 Japanese Wagyu Beef Gunkan. It was amazing. So flavorful. OMG. We will visit again. Highly recommended if you are willing to try new things! More...
Not only is the food and the quality of the food phenomenal here but so are the draaaanks - shout out to ED! Perfection, food and service! Thank you
Roka Akor is located in River Oaks, and the building is shared with an apartment complex. Parking is limited with either garage parking or valet. Despite having a second floor garage parking, valet is the way to go.Upon entrance, there is an open kitchen behind the hostess. The bar is to the right of the restaurant. The restaurant seating extends to the left and in front of the bar. Roka Akor is very modern, and it does not give a pretentious vibe. It's a 3-in-1: seafood, steakhouse, and sushi.FOOD:Wagyu Beef and Kimchi Dumplings (3/5): This was just OK to me.. nothing really stood out. The four pieces are nicely pan-seared. Not doughy.Robata Grilled Pork Belly (with Pickled Breakfast Radish and Tarragon Miso; 4/5): I am a fan!! Everything paired well together. The pork belly pieces were tender and slightly fatty.Robata Grilled Diver Sea Scallops (with Yuzu; 3/5): 2 scallops are in this dish. The yuzu did a nice touch. Cooked just right. Simple and fresh. If you are not a fan of scallops, then skip this. It wasn't that interesting otherwise.Sashimi Chef Selection (7 kinds, 2 pieces each; 5/5): So fresh. One of them was on the fishier side, but I appreciated the freshness. We devoured this.Robata Grilled Alaskan King Crab (with Chili Lime Butter; 5/5): This was our favorite. The chili lime butter is not overpowering. There are huge crab portions in this dish. Definitely recommend this!!Baked Green Tea Custard (with Caramelized Banana; 4/5): The top half of this dessert is like banana pudding with the green tea custard on the bottom. There is a mix of caramelized banana and mochi between the two layers. If you combine all and take a bite, it's good.. however, I managed to finish the green tea portion only. Our server was awesome. Very personable. He recommended his favorites to us. No complaints with service.Would I come back? Yes!!! More...

Amazing food and service!!! Very vegetarian friendly! They really go the extra mile to make you feel special! My husband and I met up with friends for a special evening. The manager walked us to the table and asked us for any dietary restrictions, and I mentioned I was vegetarian. She informed me of all the available options and even ones I didn't think could be made vegetarian. When our waiter arrived, he already knew that I was vegetarian and also gave his input on items that pair well together. I thought it was great how they took the extra step to ensure that I was taken care of. Since we were there for something special, the manager came by and told us to save room for dessert because she wanted to give us something special. The waiter and her put together a nice assortment of desserts for all of us to share. During the entire evening, the staff was very attentive and we felt the service was better than we have experienced in most places. The food was also very flavorful and amazing! We have already decided that we will be going back soon, and will be frequenting this place! Thanks for a wonderful night!!! More...

Just hands down amazing! Christine our waitress was great, she was slammed with tables but still very attentive to us. I will ask for her again when I go back. The sushi is the best I have ever had. I myself have not been to many places to have sushi so me saying it's great isnt that big of a deal. The friend I was with HAS been all over the world including Japan many times and he even said it's the best he has ever had. I decided to try this place with my boyfriend after hearing about a great experience from a friend and we were so, so impressed!First, I just want to make note that the experience was probably as great as it was because of our server Ed, who took the time to talk to us about the food, gave great recommendations, explained the restaurant's concept, and showed us all that the restaurant had to offer. The interior has a very modern and stylish design. The food.. I can't even describe. We originally intended to check out the happy hour only, but liked everything so much that we had some sushi and dessert too.The happy hour menu items are absolutely delicious and for the price, definitely worth it. I think it's suitable for a date, but I don't necessarily think it's a great place for very large groups (maybe no more than 4 people) since the portions for each item isn't that big. I was most surprised by the corn, which tasted so savory and my favorite was the beef skewer-- so tender and flavorful! If I had to redo this, I probably wouldn't order the tuna tartare only because it was the most difficult to eat. The chips were small and it wasn't easy to scoop the tuna into the chips. Otherwise, it was very delicious! Maybe not a shareable dish by design. The sushi was also very yummy and I found the experience very wonderful to let an expert pick and choose for us.The last delightful thing from this experience was the dessert-- the baked green tea custard with caramelized bananas was TO DIE FOR. I was hesitant at first with the banana and matcha combination, but it was soooooo good! I would come back here just for that. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here and have been (and will continue) to recommend people to come. The price point is kinda high, so maybe come for the special occasion or just to try the happy hour with friends! More...
Roka akor now has a special place in my heart. I will always come here for any special events. Chef Daniel and his fellow colleagues were amazing! Everyone was so nice and respectful. The experience is something I cannot forget. I went with my significant other and a friend. We did the Omakase courses. It was worth every pennies we spent. I will attach pictures along with this review. I can't quite explain the fish itself, but if you do visit the place. Ensure to asks any questions you have directly to the chef or his assistants. The fish are special and omakase is an art. I highly recommend this place! I will definitely return here again. Additionally, roka akor makes their own soy sauce. Their wasbi is all authentic( real wasbi) Parking: you can do valet or you can park yourself in the garage. It's a very short distance walk. There's an elevator if you need it. Price: it is in the higher ends. That is because the ingredients comes from Japan and the quality is the highest you can receive. More...

This restaurant was fascinating in terms of the quality of service and food. The pork was phenomenal and despite its upscale status, it deserves a more upscale rapport.
They have a self parking garage near the valet! Restaurant parking is level 2 and above I believe. I've visited Roka Akor twice now once was for dinner and the other for the Yelp Biz Lunch special. Each time has been a different experience I enjoyed. The waiters are very informative and give good suggestions. The decor and space is very clean, modern, and aesthetic. You can see into the kitchen through the big glass windows. On one side you have the bar area and dining and on the left is the main dining area. I enjoyed the quality of ingredients in all of the dishes I've tried here. The chef selection sushi has never failed me and I can't wait to come back and try what's in. Absolutely fab! From valet, to hostess to menu!!
Wow! Let's harp on this word... WOW! That is exactly how I felt during my evening here; from the service to the food Roka Akor did not disappoint at all! After visiting the Chicago location some time ago, my expectations were already extremely high! Decided on going here over Steak48 (another gem) Celebrating an accomplishment at this wonderful establishment was just as rewarding as the accomplishment itself. At the table, we ended up going with Roka Akor Omakase at $128 per person, this "entrust the chef" experience was well worth the bill! From the appetizer to the dessert the hand selected items were perfect; not to mention the presentation of the plating! A unique experience one that I would highly recommend! OUTSTANDING! The team at Roka Akor Houston was phenomenal. Christine was our server and was really knowledgeable about the menu options. She highly recommended the omakase meaning to "entrust the chef" for $128 per person which would best highlight the entire menu. I'm so glad we did! I was worried we wouldn't be full but my the end I was stuffed! It was 6 courses of tasteful bliss! The mussels, wagyu beef, scallops, crab....ALL PHENOMENAL! Excellent dinner experience for our group of six. Beyond impressed with this restaurant, the quality and service is amazing. I will say, Nahum was an absolute perfect waiter - there is no doubt that I will be asking for him again the next time I'm in there. They didn't have mint tea on the menu but somehow, Nahum was able to magically conjure up a wonderful mind tea and left a beautiful pot for our table. The SALMON AVOCADO was very refreshing, I love the mixture of fresh avocado on a sushi! Next, I had the CRISPY PRAWN AND DICED SASHIMI; even better than the first role as the crispy prawn was beyond expectation and the diced sashimi added that additional texture that also cleansed your palette from the bit of saltiness from the prawn, great combination.Last, I tried the SOFT SHELL CRAB AND KIMCHI. I always order soft shell crab wherever I go and I think this place is officially on my top 3 in Houston. It was very simple but tasted very fresh and just the right amount of flavor on every bite. Can't say enough good things about Roka! After an unfortunate experience trying to dine elsewhere (staff was so rude we left) we ended up here. I think it was meant to be because this was one of the best meals I've had in my time in Houston. Our cocktails (the mule and the penicillin) were so refreshing and balanced. We started with the crispy squid, which was incredible and had an amazing aoli with it.My fiancé ordered the waygu flat iron, and I ordered the smoked salmon and unagi tempura roll along with the diver scallops hot plate. Everything was beyond delicious. The steak was unlike any one, it basically melted as you ate it was so well prepared. The scallops were incredible and the smoked salmon on my roll was so delicious, my fiancé (who hates raw fish and salmon in particular) was swooning over it. To finish it off, our amazing server (I believe his name was John) brought us the most decadent and delicious chocolate and caramel lava cake to celebrate my fiancé's birthday. From the moment we walked in until we left we were smiling, that's how great the service was here. Great employees go a long way, and after a rough start to our birthday evening, it was so wonderful to be greeted with such warm and friendly service. We will be back again and again. With food and staff that are a step above, you're missing out if you haven't eaten here! More...
Knowledgeable and discreetly attentive wait staff and an out-of-the ordinary menu.
Excellent service from everyone there. Robata grilled pork belly was really good, so good I can skip the sauce. Steak was good but need little more salt.
My sister and I came here for my birthday during happy hour and I think we had one of everything. Food was pretty good. Nice atmosphere.
3.5 Stars. To clarify, the food, presentation, service, ambience deserve 4 stars. My only reason for the 3.5 rating is because the omakase is not truly a traditional omakase. It is more of a fixe or set menu. I've had several omakase in town and out of state and generally there is interaction with the chef and the items vary from day to day or from customer to customer based on preference and specials they have. Roka's omakase is set for everyone and likely every day of the week. All the items I ate during dinner was exactly the same items several Yelpers reviewed (also would have preferred more nigiri focused).Having said that, I did not dislike any item I was served and majority of them I would say were superb in freshness and taste. I would go back but not for an omakase. More...
Very nice atmosphere attentive staff friendly and food is very tasteful portion sizes are not to small but not big either you can valet or parking in a garage overall five star dinning
One of the best restaurants in Houston. Amazing staff, and amazing food. The wagyu sirloin with bone marrow? The best thing I have put in my mouth in months! ...and I put a lot of stuff into my mouth. More...
My friend was in town and we decided to try out this place since I've heard great things about it. We went Saturday night without a reservation and got 2 seats at the bar. We both decided to do the Omakase dinner for 2 and it was amazing. Way more food than expected. Every dish was cooked perfectly and the presentation was on point. When the lobster wontons was our least favorite dish tells you how awesome the rest were. Too many dishes to describe so pictures will have to do. We would totally go back for it again since the menu is different each time. More...

Came here for lunch On a Tuesday. Place is nice. Crowd is extremely light here for lunch. Food was delicious! Service was outstanding. My only complaint: Prices are on the high side. And parking sucks. More...
I've dined here for lunch, early dinner, and dinner.Across all time frames, the atmosphere is quite pleasant for my party and I to have nice conversations. There are some restaurants like these where you're unable to hear the person in front of you because the entire restaurant is so loud, but not here. Every time I've eaten here was pleasant, from the service provided by the waiters, presentation of the dishes, and the taste of their food. (Can't say much about the decor, there's a section in the middle of the dining area that waiters/waitresses go to obtain their customer's checks, etc)Onto the food. The dishes I enjoy most and find myself getting every time are the:- Toro Foie Gras Nigiri - Yuzu Miso Marinated Black Cod with Pickled Red Daikon- Seared Wagyu with Oshinko and Garlic Chips- Robata Grilled Pork Belly with Pickled Breakfast Radish and Tarragon Miso- Prime beef tataki with shaved black truffle, truffle jus and pickled daikon- Robata Grilled Sea Diver Scallops- Warm Valrhona Chocolate Cake I've tried others (as you can tell from my pictures) - but the above are what I favor the most from their menu.I would warn you to stay away from the Uni Chicharrones. Sure they give you 2-3 pieces of Uni, but that doesn't validate for this thing to cost you $28 (or $24, it was one or the other..). You can buy some chicharrones from Walmart (because these chicharrones aren't made inhouse) - and then get yourself a FRESH whole Uni for less than $20. A fresh whole uni consists of about 6-8 pieces inside.I've given this place my business plenty of times - I would recommend it, but if you're budgeting and want to get incredibly full - then I would not recommend this place. For each time I've dined here (party of 3-5) - I've spent at minimum $300. (I've never hit $300, I just know that the bill always came out to be more than $300). I wasn't quite full during this time. The other time I dined here and spent $550 - I was full. It gets pricey! What a remarkable night, we have tried just about every recommended dish and enjoyed each one of them. The STEAK was the talk of the town, but the sushi unfortunately fell short for us. I am no sushi expert, average or high grade, I think sushi taste like sushi. But hey! Process of elimination right? Finding out which restaurant fit your criteria and make it work in your favor. Was it expensive? Yes, but are you paying for the overall experience. The food was solid, the service was comfortable. The ambiance felt easy and nostalgic. Complimentary champagne was offered as a toast to celebrate my s/o Birthday. It was indeed a successful evening. In one word: PERFECT. The food is Devine - every bite is amazing, I can't imagine any of the dishes being any better - all perfectly prepared. The experience is framed by OUTSTANDING service! Izzet was our server - a true professional who makes sure that guests are well taken care of with highest courtesy. He reminded me of traditional high-class European servers who take pride in this important profession and make the dining experience very special for the clients (truly, great meal alone can't deliver a good dining experience without service, so for this reason, knowledgable and professional servers are critical for high-end dining!) I was especially touched that our allergy considerations (communicated when making the reservation) were remembered and confirmed as dishes were served. Supporting staff was also great - efficient and courteous. To top it off, we got a complimentary dessert for our anniversary, which was completely unexpected and such a nice touch! Some of the best sorbet we've ever had! :-))Thank you, Roka Akor, for making our special celebration dinner so perfect - from start to finish! More...
I went to Roka Akor craving sushi, and I was not disappointed. The restaurant design was up-scale and had a beautiful interior. We started off with the lobster and shrimp dumplings, which were savory and light. For entrees, we ordered the "Dynamite Scallop," tuna, Hamachi and Serrano Chili, and snow crab rolls . The tuna roll and snow crab rolls were good, but there was nothing particularly special about these rolls compared to other restaurants. I did appreciate that they used real crab in their rolls instead of imitation crab. The Dynamite Scallop roll, however, was more unique and had more diverse flavors. It was essentially the snow crab roll, but with a scallop and scallop sauce on top. The additional scallop components added a lot, particularly texturally. The only thing the roll was missing was an element of crunchiness. The Hamachi and Serrano Chili roll was my favorite out of the four. The roll was fresh, yet incredibly luxurious. The wasabi cream on top highlighted the other flavors in the roll perfectly. The restaurant was a little pricey for the quantity you receive, but the happy hour menu has a lot of variety and has more reasonable prices. Overall this place provided a great experience, and I would like to return to try some of the many non-sushi/sashimi options as well! More...

I have been to Roka Akor only once and enjoyed it. It's a Japanese fine dinning restaurant with a lovely ambience to it .I love the contemporary design and seating arrangement . The menu normally changes seasonally. Small portions. Lovely customer service and food More...
