Richard Hartog shot our engagement photographs in the Pasadena and South Pasadena area. He has a calm and easy going personality coupled with high energy and inspirational ideas. He was quick, fun, and open to pretty much any photographic idea we could think of! We love that he did not hold us to an exact set of rules like number of dressing changes, exact times, and only a certain number of locations. Flexible, creative, prompt, and professional. P.S. -Richard is so friendly and helped to create such a fun and relaxing environment for our engagement photos that we all went out for pizza afterwards.

I would recommend Richard for any of your photography needs. He is really the best photographer I have ever worked with and seen. I chose him to shoot our wedding because he is a photo journalist and he creates the most unique and beautiful pictures. I told him that I had a "good side" to shoot me from, but he even managed to get amazing pictures of my "bad side"! We started with photos of me and my bridesmaids and flower girl in the hotel room. They are some of the most stunning pictures I've ever seen and certainly the most beautiful I have had taken of me. Wedding photography is so special because it is what we will have to commemorate the day and he went way above my expectations. When I saw the pictures he took of the ceremony I was completely blown away. He had pictures that really captured the emotions of the day. For that I am eternally grateful to Richard, because it was one of the most joyous days of my life. He had pictures close up of the ceremony and then long distance from the balcony above. He was literally running the entire time. He got such beautiful shots of the wedding party walking up the alter and he captured our guests as they watched the ceremony, some of them tearing up. I had the privilege of having photos taken by Richard that were extremely sentimental to me... to remember my precious dog, Stevie, that I was to put to sleep just weeks after our shoot. I am a young stage 4 Metastatic breast cancer patient and adopted my little Stevie girl, who was a "special needs" dog that just needed love and happiness before the angels came to grace her with her next journey. I knew when I adopted little Steive that she did not have long left to live. But then again, I heard the same thing myself. We both had Stage 4 Bone disease and were not given long. I have survived six years now when docs said I would not survive a year. And the vets gave Stevie about 3 months. She survived 6 months. It was one of the hardest days of my life, to let my little fur baby go... but, she was in too much pain and it was time. Thankfully, I reached out to Richard weeks before to set up a beach shoot so that I could have pics to treasure and cherish of being blessed to know little Stevie, and the honor of loving her during the time we shared together. Richard captured beautiful moments that I will never forget now... and it's all because of the quality of photographer he is as well as being a quality human being that truly understands how to snap a moment of feeling that makes others feel just by looking at the photos.
