My experience with Carlos has been amazing. He is extremely caring and knowledgeable. I have been seeing him for the past few procedures. He is outstanding in every regard.My appointment was on Friday the last appointment of his very busy day. I had some questions and concerns, and being a little nervous, Carlos took the extra time to explain everything what to expect during the procedure after the procedure. Dr. Swengel and his (awesome) team are always a pleasure to visit.There is great energy in this place.  It's a really comfortable environment - I hate doctors offices. . Dr. Lindsey Yeh is incredible! I had a consultation with her regarding my skin concerns for fillers, hyperpigmentation and melasma. After my initial consult, I knew she was the one I trusted to touch my face. I came back the very next day for injections, chemical peel and an at home skincare system that works on lightening melasma. She is so informative, friendly, thorough and her hand is extremely gentle for injections. She manages expectations well, after all, we are all aging and human but she will give you her honest/professional opinion on what she recommends and how to combat the aging process or whatever your concerns are. I came to Dr. Swengel to get a large mole removed on my shoulder. I was referred by a girlfriend who raved about his experience. I was extremely worried of scaring/ getting a keloid because it was quite large. It was about the size of a quarter. Dr. Swengel was gentle and took his time to answer all of my questions. I love love love the service at Refined Dermatology. Having had recently moved to the Bay Area from Atlanta, it was quite an undertaking to find another practice who was highly skilled. From much research I learned of, and carefully considered Refined Dermatology. For my consultation I met with Dr. Roy, and was impressed at his abilities to not only listen to my concerns but advise on what he felt the best approach would be to address those areas. His approach was completely different from what I initially thought and had presented to him. I recently visited Refined Dermatology (Sept 26, 2019) to see Dr. Yeh for a Cyst in the back of my neck. My pain at that time from 1-10 was a 13! Dr. Yeh, was extremely patient, gentle and super super sweet. She assessed my situation, and relieved my pain and made sure we had a plan to resolve the anxiousness of the pain from my cyst. This review is specially for Dr Swengel, Eric and Hannah.Dr Swengel is one gem of a doctor. I did multiple Micro needling and 1 Infini session with him. My acne scars has drastically improved. I remember how much I troubled Dr Swengel and Eric after my Infini session as I was concerned that it will lead to pigmentation. I almost visited them everyday. They took care of me every single day on messages, calls, visits and were so confident that everything will be fine and it did. I had an amazing after glow and so much difference in the scars with that one session. Hannah is someone who changed my life. I LOVE LOVE HER !! With regular visits my acne cleared and my scars improved and my skin is glowing. Apart from my sessions, she also helped me choose the right products and I gained so much knowledge. I recently moved from California to Texas and the only thing I was tensed about was that Hannah is not going to move with me (I still tried though :P ). But the good thing is that she educated me so much about my skin that I can step in any Med spa and confidently tell them how should they work on my skin. These guys are awesome!I’m a 50-something year old man with a receding hairline (ok, I’m pretty much bald). Over the years I developed a deep vertical line between my eyebrows, and two distinct horizontal lines across my forehead. I attribute them to too many years of squinting in front of a computer. My wife is my age, but has a very youthful appearance, so the fact that I look a lot older than her doesn’t help matters either.So, after years of procrastinating, I finally decided to do something about it. Note that I’ve never had a manicure, let alone a facial treatment, prior to this. My top concerns were: 1) Safety: This is a medical procedure after all. No botox at the dentist office for me, thanks; and 2) Natural appearance: I regularly present in front of large audiences, so this was important.After Googling top plastic surgeons and dermatologists that specialize in facial fillers and botox for MEN, I ran across Refined Dermatology. They hit all of the check-boxes: Lots of experience, plenty of terrific online reviews, and conveniently located in Silicon Valley area. All of the staff were awesome, from the initial appointment call to the personal reception, to the actual treatment. They were very professional, and entirely focused on me. This was not the typical doctor’s office experience I was expecting. My consultation with Dr. Roy (a highly qualified plastic surgeon) and his assistant was excellent and exactly what I was hoping for: Personable, low pressure, and very informative. It was clear Dr. Roy knew what he was doing, and he had done this many times before. Both he and his assistant took the time to educate me on the options and best treatment plan (who knew there were four types of "botulinum toxin"?). I chose to go with Xeomin (a more purified form of botox) and Belotero (the filler).Three weeks have passed since my treatment, and the results are surprisingly good. I expected the Xeomin to have some effect, but was quite skeptical about the filler. Both exceeded my expectations, and there’s nothing unnatural looking about it. My "features" are significantly diminished and my wife says I have a younger, more refreshed appearance. Money well spent!Thank you so much Refined Derm, and especially Dr. Roy. Dr Swengel is very good! I have a “difficult” forehead when it comes to Botox, and he got it right on the first try. He uses a combination of Botox and Dysport on me to get the desired results. After ten years since I left Colorado, where I had a great injector, I’ve finally found someone who gets my weird forehead muscles. I’m so pleased! I came back for a revision to have my eyebrows raised a bit with more Botox. He did that just perfectly as well. He also performed sclerotherapy on large spider veins in my legs. I'm honestly so impressed by the medical team at Refined Dermatology- 5 stars is not enough. I've been throwing money at fillers and other procedures for years, and finally met a surgeon who told me honestly what was needed to get the result I craved. Dr. Roy is candid, earnest, gracious and kind; he's also an amazing surgeon. AND, Dr Swengel was also amazing! He performed Laser Genesis and another laser procedure to my skin to insure that the skin would have a soft, youthful texture. Everyone deserves to feel beautiful. As a woman in her 40's, finding ways to achieve a healthy and radiant appearance has been an important topic to me. I tried the BBL laser and developed some skin pigmentation concerns after seven days post treatment. I needed a dermatologist who is  experienced with the BBL laser. I moved to the Bay Area in the last year and struggled with finding a good dermatologist team that was experienced, meticulous in their approach toward proactive skin care, and mindful of not only anti aging treatments but also blemishes and adult acne. I was actually recommended to Dr. Swengel and team from another dermatologist in Palo Alto for their state of the art micro needling process that very few places in the country are doing. Dr. Swengel and his team are incredible. They are wonderful at what they do and really care about their patients. I’ve been to four other places for tattoo removal and always blistered terribly, but the process Dr. Swengel uses made it so that I do not blister at all. I will not go anywhere else for treatments and wish I found them sooner. My tattoos are fading quickly and I will definitely be back for other services as well. Had a large mole on my back that's been there since as long as I can remember that was getting bigger to the point that just putting on and wearing a shirt would tug on it and cause pain. Plus I've had countless people over the years comment on it and say I should get it looked at, and I was sick of hearing these comments.Walked right in, barely had to explain anything. Dr. Sandoval assured me that insurance would help cover the procedure and that I would not have to pay out of pocket. The mole was immediately removed with almost no pain. Been going to Refined Dermatology for a few years now. Love the office and staff. Wow. I'm so in love with this place honestly. Everyone is so sweet and very talkative! I came here for a cosmetic consultation (free! ) and literally all of my questions were answered. The consultant I saw, Kaitlyn, was very informative and even asked Dr. Roy to second guess how many syringes I would need for my procedure. I ended up making an appointment for two weeks after my initial consultation to get liquid (non surgical) rhinoplasty/nose fillers. We used Restalyne Defyne, and didn't even take up a whole syringe, so they stored it with my name for next time! Dr. Roy was incredibly sweet and talked me through the whole procedure and made sure I was comfortable during the process. The medical assistants who were with me, Lydia and Vanessa, were super helpful and helped keep me distracted during the procedure. After the first maybe 10 minutes, I was feeling a bit faint because I had forgotten to eat beforehand (my mistake of course) so Lydia sat with me and provided some snacks as I began to feel better. Dr. Roy was super patient during this time and let me recover before proceeding with the last bit. The entire procedure was pretty painless, a bit uncomfortable just because of the nature of getting fillers. Afterwords, I was provided with ice packs and care instructions before being sent on my merry way. The next week, I came in for a follow up and again every single employee was incredibly kind and welcoming. Overall, I had an amazing experience here and with Dr. Roy. I've been going to Refined Dermatology for years. I see Hannah for all my facials. I've struggled with hormonal acne since my early 20s. Now that I'm in my early 30s.. my skin is better than its ever been. I'm quite particular when it comes to my skin needs. Hannah is very professional, accommodating, understanding, caring, meticulous, and knowledgeable. I usually come in every 4 weeks for a facial and I believe it has kept my skin in check. We only have 1 skin for the rest of our lives. It's worth the dedication and investment. I can't recommend Hannah enough! She has helped transform my skin with her magic touch and she  truly cares about your skin integrity!!! I have tried several 5 star dermatology offices for different cosmetic treatments , but when I found Hannah Merrill that all ended! ! She is absolutely the best esthetician I have experienced.. I have been looking for a place that I can go to for a little facial rejuvenation. I usually don't get much done and I was a little hesitant coming here based on some of the reviews. But my friend referred me and she had a great experience so I decided to give them a try. I first started with a very pleasant consultation with this lovely lady named Nagme (not sure if that's how her name is spelled). She was so nice and very informative and gave me lot of different options based on my concerns. As tempted as I was to go for some of the big guns, I decided to start off with a facial first. Hannah was my esthetician and let me tell you, she had magic hands! Not only was she super thorough and educated me on what I need to use without being pushy, it was hard for me to pay attention because I was so relaxed! She was so kind and patient and made the same recommendations as my consultant so it made me feel good to know they were on the same page. My skin glowed for days after!! Because Nagme and Hannah were so wonderful, I decided to get some botox and lip filler. Dr. Swengel was so amazing! Extremely nice and did a beautiful job on my lips. Super natural as I requested! With the beautiful facial and the nice plump lips, I feel like a new woman! Now my only problem is to save more money to come back and try some more treatments! I first went to Refined Dermatology in December of 2018. I was a "virgin" to any facial cosmetic enhancements. I decided to do restalyn in my smile lines and little Botox between the eyes. Dr. Swengel asked me if I would like to be skin tested for Bellafill, which is a longer lasting and different type of filler, in case I wanted to try it next time. I did, with no reaction...I decided to try the Bellafill and am amazed by the results!  The crazy part is, I can't exactly pinpoint what it did to my face specifically, but I just look YOUNGER!!  My skin texture is improved, I have fuller cheeks like I did in my early thirties!  The greatest part is I am told it can last upwards of 7 years!  The process was very simple and didn't take very long at all.  Not painful, more of an odd feeling as it's administered slightly different than traditional HA fillers. Dr. Roy was awesome and explained everything upfront as well as during the procedure. People keep telling me "your skin looks so good, what did you do?"  It's so obviously improved, but so subtle at the same time!  I highly recommend Refined Dermatology.  They beautify you without overdoing it!  The staff and doctors are top notch! I would highly recommend seeing Jaeny Kim, FNP, NP, RN!  I had a growth on my second toe and she quickly diagnosed it as a mole.  I wanted to have it removed but was nervous about having a needle in something as sensitive as a toe.  She suggested some ice to numb the initial prick which I happily accepted.  That worked really well as she numbed the needle area and then moved the ice just up my foot to a spot that would also help stop the pain of the needle; consequently, I barely felt the needle or the "burn" of the numbing medicine that she warned me about.  I was numb VERY quickly, she removed and cauterized the mole, and I was out the door in minutes.  Her "bedside manner" was warm, yet efficient, and I can say the same of her kind assistant.  I wouldn't hesitate to go back to her again.
